In the last 10 years, there have been HUGE strides in accountability and the protection of children in the Church. So, if you are looking for “greater accountability” you got it.

You can go back to evangelizing everyone into the Church now. 😃

Not according to retired Bishop Gumbleton’s homily of 2010. (I’ll take his word over yours).

This is the same Bishop Gumbleton who had the audacity to directly contradict the current Ordinary of that archdiocese, Archbishop Vigneron?

Archbishop Vigneron:

And the archbishop of Detroit, Allen Vigneron, told the Free Press Sunday that Catholics who receive Communion while advocating gay marriage would “logically bring shame for a double-dealing that is not unlike perjury.”

(retired) Bishop Gumbleton (2 days later):

The Detroit archbishop’s recent comments about communion and support for same sex marriage is still sparking debate among Catholics. Now a local priest is speaking out publicly against the archbishop’s approach.

“Don’t stop going to communion. You’re okay,” said Retired Auxiliary Bishop of Detroit Thomas Gumbleton.
Frankly, if this retired bishop is willing to directly contradict his Ordinary in public, I’m not sure I would take his word for anything.

He was sacked by the Vatican for speaking out about the lack of accountability according to Bishop Gumbleton:
