(friard). No, it is not. We have the Holy Spirit within us. The idea of “conjuring up the Holy Spirit” is the 'protestant view (if you must put things like that), which you seem, for some other-worldly reason, known only to you, to be arguing for. Pentecostals are the ones who think we need to “conjur” Him up from outside. He is not the air, He is the Spirit of God. Our souls go inward to God, not into space.
Has faith really gotten so synthetic and syncretic… or should I say, sin-thetic and sin-cretic.
The Holy Spirit is within us.
God never leaves us, completely.
Yes, we can sin, mortally. But we are still in receipt of a certain kind of grace even when not in a state of grace and therefore God does not leave us completely. Because where grace is, God is, also. Did you never question why it is that you feel inspired to go to Confession when you sin? This motivation comes from God.
You are diverting around the point anyway. Whether there are times that we can be deprived of the Holy Spirit, does not mean that the TRUE understanding, that the Holy Spirit is within us, is false. It is altogether, true.
