Catholic Senators vote against 'Conscience Law’

Washington D.C., Apr 3, 2009 / 09:13 pm (CNA).- Yesterday, a majority of Catholic Senators rejected a conscience protection law proposed by Senator Tom Colburn that would protect health care workers who object to abortions from participating in the procedure.
Conscience protection has become a topic of debate after President Obama announced that he was reviewing the law and could possible eliminate it. Colburn’s amendment states, “To protect the freedom of conscience for patients and the right of health care providers to serve patients without violating their moral and religious convictions.”
The amendment was voted down by a margin of 41-56, in which a majority of Catholic Senators voted against the amendment 9-16. The failure to pass this legislation now leaves the door open for the Obama Administration to rescind the law by executive order and force health workers to compromise their moral convictions.

My 2 senators are of the 16 who voted against this law. They are not pro-choice, but pro abortion. They are all reprehensible! Oh, that the Archbishop of the Seattle Arch-Diocese would publicly call these 2 women out.

I don’t even bother reaching out to my two senators ~ Boxer and Feinstein!! However, I pray that our Bishops would remember that GOD was with Moses and defeated the Egyptians…GOD will not abandon them for excommunicating all our “catholic” politicians!! I am so SICK of these so called “catholics” leading our flocks astray!

BISHOPS OF THE USA ~ WAKE UP!! Enough is enough!!

That is apparent. there vote is against choice and against individual freedom.
They are anti-life.

“They are not pro-choice, but pro abortion.” ???/

Is that like Nazi’s not being against Jews, just pro death camps???

Come on, when we will stop being gutless and call out the liars and murderers for what they are!

Please contact your Archbishop and let him know that Jesus would never tolerate hypocrites who allow the murder of innocent babies, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!

"but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 19:14)

I am an incredible sinner, but I do not want to stand in front of Jesus at my death and judgment and say "I am not pro-choice, but abortion is not my problem (ie. the murder of innocent children is not my problem!)

Despite the lies and garbage our society tries to feed us everyday like “Your actions are your own choice, your own private business”, we all know the Truth of Jesus Christ!

The Truth is that our actions or even our lack of taking positive actions to stop evil, have consequences that directly impact other peoples lives., Some of those effects are permanent, long reaching, eternal and unchangeable, like murdering an innocent baby!!!

Sancta Maria, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

I think you misunderstood the comment. If they were truly pro-*choice, *they would have voted to allow health providers to have a choice. Instead, they voted not to allow medical personnel to choose… so they are pro-abortion.
