If “the right one” is an American he then just remember we in the United States like to bathe at least once a day and we don’t like our women to have hair under their arms.

 I don’t know if I’m joking or not with that. 🤷
I knew this would come out at some point. 🙂
I don’t want to get into details but last time I checked everything was super clean.

It’s a numbers game just keep in mind a lot of people on those sites are just window shopping and not serious though they may think they are when things head toward a real relationship they turn and run. I’m not trying to discourage you just warn you to guard your heart and not to take the whole internet hing too seriously. I can say it does work for some. I’ve been to 2 weddings where the couples met online through various sites and both couples are still happily married. Just don’t take to all too much to heart that’s all I’m saying.

Well, that’s true I guess, but the other side of the coin is that the contact is so accelarated and so goal-conscious. I mean, everybody knows what everybody else is looking for. Everybody has expectations and everybody’s clock is ticking. The place resembles a market or a stock exchange or some kind of roster. Unless two people actually click, which means they respond with comparable strength and timing, one of the parties can be pushing it, while the other guarding his or her freedom, accusations of either desperation or non-comittal attitude being flung the respective way. At least that’s how I see it happening in my part of the woods.

“window shopping” I know! Its really weird and I don’t like it that much.

“when things head toward a real relationship they turn and run” That’s was I was thinking the other day. So I’ll keep that in mind.

“I’m not trying to discourage you just warn you to guard your heart and not to take the whole internet hing too seriously.” Thank you!

So far, I have found three profiles I like. I’ve had some request that I rejected. One guy wasn’t my type but even when I said no he asked me if we could be friend. Really???
Another one was pro contraception and pro premarital sex. When it’s clear on my page that I follow the teaching of the Church on that matter. Sorry but they’re certain things I just can’t take.

You can tell that even though its a catholic website some are here just for…sex. That’s why I didn’t put too much pictures of me and none of them is a full length picture. I agree that physical appearance is important but that’s not everything.
I am 5.10, size 10 and what you call curvy so people just assume I’m not serious when I say I follow the Church teachings.
As for real catholic men of course you have some in Paris or in France in general, but as much as I love my country, racism is something that is not deniable. As far as I can remember I’ve never seen any interracial couples practicing Catholicism the way I want to. And it is not because they didn’t have the opportunity to date outside their skin color but because they have prejudice or are plain racist so…🤷
As for black people, I’ve not seen any of my age or so in my church and most of the people I used to go to catechism when I was young have converted to Islam. And it’s also complicated because if you’re not originally from the same country (even if you were born and raised in France) it can be such a drama for some people. And as I have an open minded family I wouldn’t be with someone whose family isn’t. So… I guess that’s why I’ve been single for almost 2 years 🙂

the Key point is don’t take it too seriously. Be open and give people a chance just don’t rest all your hopes on it. People will come and go and some will just drop off the face of the earth for no apparent reason. Don’t worry if it’s you or them just let it go.

Does anybody know of a free catholic dating:D:) website?
There may be some but one good thing about payment is that it has the tendency to filter out ghost accounts, multiple accounts, even to some extent half-hearted accounts. It can be tough when your finances aren’t in the best order, I know, I have the same problem. But perhaps see it as an investment?

Oh come on there must be some good Catholics in Paris! I know some who used to live there, but they all moved and they are all engaged/married now.

Anyway, why don’t you try one of the French Caholic dating websites, if there are any? If you are in the right age group, you could also visit one of the masses organized for students etc. The Tridentine Mass should also attract some very devout young men…

This was not you question, but still… 🙂

YES, your right, i should look at it from a long term prespective not short term. i need to be patient, i actually have a free catholic website, its pretty good.👍

Excellent post - succinct and to the point.

I met my wife online. Neither of us was on the others’ match list because of distance. However, we met at an event and hit it off. In my experience, it’s action that counts.Sending emails or chatting online is nothing. It’s a good pre-filter, but face-to-face is the real test. Don’t invest a lot of time emailing. If it seems to be a good thing, meet! Soon! Stop being paranoid. Select a coffeehouse in a mall or something and arrange a time. Then you haven’t given out your address, you haven’t been followed, there’s plenty of people around.

I know of one singles event where a single man had no less than three eligible women inquire if he was going. He didn’t go. The opportunity of meeting three seriously interested women, and probably another thirty gathered in one spot on their own dime was too much. He didn’t go. Why? Because he obviously wasn’t serious. I suspect he probably joined the site in order to be able to tell his nagging mother that he was trying to find a girlfriend.

Use what’s free but appreciate the benefits of what’s not–if it really is worth it (it can be but isn’t always but you can always just not renew your subscription if it’s a periodic payment or just keep the account without putting too much hope in it if it’s a one-off fee). 😉

Always have a coffeehouse at the ready. Or five. Vary. Adapt. Hunting 101. :D;)

Well, Richard, I’d disagree on the obvious part. The conclusion seems practically guaranteed from the POV of a go-getter who just makes things happen without spending time in deliberation mode or worrying about stuff. But there are people for whom those things are a bit more complicated. It takes some courage. A man should man up and just do it, I’ll grant you that (although, personally, I needed more than 18 years to get to that point) but the other thing is that if you go to a place where there’s a number of women interested in finding a partner, this is going to be a messy bloodfest:

– in choosing one, you reject the others; obviously, you can act the sweet and gallant part to the best of your ability but you’re only limit the damage;
– dare you choose one initially but then go back on your choice and pick another, let alone repeat…
– compare various possible picks and go back to make your choice? it’ll be offensive and you’ll feel bad for it (probably rightly so, I think the situation is necessarily non-ideal from the POV of a lady’s dignity);
– get several phone numbers and just go have some coffee? – you’ll look like a player, the situation will due to its context always be harsh on the girls’ dignity, some will bail out when personal honour stirs their blood enough (and I don’t blame them, I always refuse to compete directly myself, I only provide information for a choice).

(And obviously they will communicate. Each of them will know what you did during the respective meetings.)

Basically, while it’s possible to entertain a group of women at the same time, even in a civil, dignified fashion, and impress all of them to varying degrees, possibly befriend all, you just don’t find your one girl that way.

And I personally dread to find myself in the middle of an, ‘every woman on her own,’ free for all. That’s like touching live wire, except worst.

I’ve tried Catholicmatch.com and it’s interesting. I’ve made some good friends from the site, but I’ve not met anybody that is a candidate for dating potential.

I prefer to keep all my avenues open as far as vocations go. As I continue to discern, I am keeping an open heart towards all vocations. If my vocation did turn out to be marriage, I don’t know where my wife would come from ( whether that be the internet, my parish, etc).

In summary, just look at it more for friendship… if a relationship blooms from it then you can just count that as a bonus.

Ite in pace,
Joshua C.

Hey everyone!

I’ve said I’ll get back to you so…I’m done with online dating. It is just way too much for me.
I’m having a break from dating anyway.People (I know not everyone but still) are just too shallow. Long story short me and my friends went out for dinner last night. There was a male colleague of one of our friend saying that he would never date anyone over a size 10 (38/40). And even a size 10 is almost fat depending on your height. What!!! So we’ve started arguing with him and he said he didn’t want to have to worry about his wife getting back in her clothes after getting birth AND that we should’t be upset because we’re all size 10 or less. :bigyikes: + first thing people see is your body so it should look nice…
Anyway we’ve argued for at least 20 minutes but he wouldn’t change his mind.
There is worse in life but this is really depressing.
I’m just praying for him.

Anyway,
God bless you all.

But I did. This is not theoretical.

Hi Elizabethelisa,
It’s not about his mind – that has little or nothing to do with it. Allow me to explain in a posting that might take 5 minutes to read.

While I do hope for you to find someone special, calling a man shallow just because he is attracted to a woman with a more petite body simply isn’t fair, and you’re saying it more out of sour grapes rather than out of fact.
Going by that logic, you’d have to call every man on the planet shallow. …

… If it was a man, a man on welfare, it would be like that man calling a woman shallow for not wanting to date a man who can’t pay his rent. That’s not fair either.

It’s simple — women want a man who can keep a certain standard of living$, and men want a woman they are physically attracted to. And neither one of them should be judged as shallow for wanting what they want. — To judge them as shallow would be to judge the whole human race, and that’s not fair.

And that’s not to say that they don’t have the intention of falling in love – they just have the right to be choosy about who they might fall in love with.

And these attractions don’t change just because people happen to be good Catholics – human nature is the same everywhere. …

… Look at Joel Osteen for example – have you seen his wife? Drop dead gorgeous! I can just LOOK at her and tell she’s a rich man’s wife. How many pastors have you ever seen getting a woman that looks like her? — Fact is, when a man has millions of dollars, he can have a smokin’ hot woman. His desire for a hot female body in his bed doesn’t disappear just because he’s a man of God. Unfortunately though, most pastors will never make that kind of money and therefore will never be able to obtain a woman that hot. …

… another example: Think of every superstar athlete or entertainer that you’ve ever seen on TV. Have you ever seen their wives/girlfriends? All gorgeous models! Would you say those guys are shallow for using their millions of dollars to obtain the most beautiful women in the world? What would you have them do? Take an average-looking woman just to prove that they are not “shallow”?

Think of every beauty pageant model that you’ve ever seen with all her values and education. Who does she give that amazing body to? Some clean cut doctor or lawyer? No, she gives it to some dirtbag rocker, as he is worth millions of dollars and she likes that he can easliy provide for her, and she likes that he gets up on stage and sings about what he’s gonna do in bed to some chick he met 5 minutes ago ( nevermind the fact that 2 years later she finds out that he’s cheated on her with 500 groupies and she divorces him ). … ( Don’t get me wrong - I love rock, but the only reasons to become a rock star is satisfaction of ego, tons of money, and hot chicks in bed. )

Facts are facts – beautiful women have choices, and they choose men who are on the wealthier side, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to fall in love. And wealthy men are men with choices, and they choose women with faces and bodies that make make them want to copulate with those women, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to fall in love. … to say that is shallow would be to say that every beautiful woman who has ever lived is shallow, and every wealthy man who has ever lived is shallow – and that’s not fair and it’s not true at all. …

For a beautiful woman not to use her looks to allow herself choices in succes$ful men simply goes against human nature – and conversely, for a wealthy man not to use his succes$ to allow himself choices in beautiful women simply goes against human nature. … How many poor guys do you see getting Playboy Cenerfolds? How many ugly women do you see getting wealthy men?

Every time a less-than wealthy man is rejected by a beautiful woman, he always wants to call her shallow, as if it’s HER problem and not HIS. … and conversely, whenever a less-than-attractive woman is rejected by a well-to-do man, she always wants to call him shallow, as if it’s HIS problem and not HERS.

Both men and women have the right, without being judged, when considering a possible romantic partner, to get their market-value in a partner, regardless of their religious affiliation. And yes while personality is important, a man’s market value tends to lie in the size of his bank account, and a woman’s market value tends to lie in the shape of her body and the prettiness of her face.

The sooner you accept this, the better. Falsely and unfairly judging others for wanting what they have the right to want is not going to hurt them, nor is it going to help you. So please refrain from the jealous sour-grapes of saying that someone is shallow just because they don’t want a physical relationship. That type of statement typically doesn’t fool anyone, and is just said to cope and make one’s self feel better.

This doesn’t mean you should give up your search though – perhaps just be more realistic about what is available to yourself.

Excuse me? Have you read my quote properly? First off I said not everyone is shallow. Second I am 1m78 and wear 38/40 so what kind of jealousy are you talking about? Sorry if you feel rejected because you don’t fit in whatever criteria but don’t blame it on me.

This is funny because I knew someone would come out with something so STUPID. But so that I’m clear for everyone.

This might be true for you but that’s not how I’ve been raised nor that any of my brothers and sisters are raising their child. Let me introduce you to some women (me included) who can pay their rent and EVERY bills they have on their own. And some of them even have kids. Since God is available to everyone, I’ll stick to him and he won’t judge me for looking for someone who isn’t only interested in my bra size and “mon joli minois”

Do I know you? No! So please keep your judgmental values for yourself and stop pretending you know anything whatsoever regarding the type of men I could or could not have regarding my physical appearance or anything else.
The only one that doesn’t fool anyone here is you. Troll!

I think there is a fine line between being shallow and not settling for what you want.

There are many shallow men out there with skewed views of women (the same could be said about women’s views of men), but there are also good holy men with a certain standard that leads them towards attraction.

My criteria for dating a woman are very simple. She must:

be Catholic
be financially stable
have direction in life
be physically attractive to me

Now, my attraction can’t be pinned down to a dress size, specific facial structure, or certain part of her body. I just need to find her attractive in order to feel a form of physical bond. I don’t think of myself as shallow but I do prefer women who are more in shape and athletic. That shouldn’t suggest that I have not been attracted to women who are larger than that, but if you run the numbers those are the women I am generally attracted to.

We must define the line between shallowness and knowing what we want. It is important to know that love does not come in one specific form.
