=Todd520;6964566]I have been repeatedly told in CAF that LDS are not Christian because we presume to become gods/God/like god after we die.
Now I read in the Catholic Catechism that Catholics also believe a soul can become God/gods.
Is the Catechism wrong or are some posters un-catechized?
(I unerstand the purpose of the Catechism is to clearly state beliefs so that interpretation errors are not possible.)
VERY GOOD POINT. But what does it mean?
**460 **The Word became flesh to make us “partakers of the divine nature”:“For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God.” “For the Son of God became man so that we might become God.” “The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods.”
1322 The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.
1325 “The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.”
1391 Holy Communion augments our union with Christ. The principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist in Holy Communion is an intimate union with Christ Jesus. Indeed, the Lord said: “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” Life in Christ has its foundation in the Eucharistic banquet: “As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.”
Gen.1 Verses 26 to 27
"Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. "
In receiving Catholic Holy Communion [the Real Glorified Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Himself]
Jesus becomes a part of us
AND
We become apart of Jesus [Who is God]…
It is in this REAL way that properly received we become ONE WITH JESUS [for as long as the Sacred Host [Jesus Himself] remains in our bodies.
This is God’s actions NOT our own human actions. This is God’s choice NOT one that we usurp for ourselves as do LDS who do not accept Christ as God, and determine that upon death they will be like gods.
Thus ignoring the First Commandment.
Love and prayers frind, nice try.
