I don’t particularly care for it, but the symbolism of the ark of the new covenant atop the ark of the old covenant is appealing. Where is this located?

Every breastfeeding Mary one

I know I’m gonna get flack for this but in my opinion it’s just tasteless and too inappropriate

I already feel it. Someone is going to comment and tell me I’m wrong and that I should be ashamed because breastfeeding is natural.

Yeah it’s natural but idk I don’t wanna see Jesus painted eating a bowl of Wheaties either

And seeing Mary’s nipple is just really weird

I know that in a breastfeeding context it isn’t sexual

But idk it’s still an erogenous zone

Please don’t comment on this if you’re gonna tell me I’m wrong it’s just my opinion

You’re wrong! Lol
Just kidding. I’m okay with that type of images, but I totally understand your position.

I am no art aficionado by any means, but there is something that seems off about this. Maybe it is a modern piece using mid evil style.

I don’t, and I wish more would not post negative comments about ones opinions.

This. This was on a friend’s FB page on Visitation Sunday. It really just drove home for me that Mary and Elizabeth were real people, doing real things like the rest of us. It somehow made them human to me for the first time in my life. Strange how that happens.

That is pretty good. I like your reasoning. Many people feel that they “can’t be saints” since we do not all have halos, are always longingly gazing at heaven, don’t perpetually have a cross or Bible in our hands, or solemn looks on our faces like most icon images. But you’re right, the picture you shared is much more human, relatable, and achievable. Thanks!

I love the statuary at my parish with one exception. There is, at times, a large doll representing Jesus, dressed in red robe with crown and scepter. Please forgive me for saying so, but it looks more like Chucky and kind of freaks me out.

I totally understand why you feel that way, but maybe if you read up on its background it will seem less creepy to you.

I need that painting in my house! So human. So relatable. Like most converts, I’m still working on my relationship with Mary. This totally helps! Art can really be a powerful tool.

It’s nice but it looks like Elizabeth needs to have her thyroid checked.

it will seem less creepy to you.
this is it alright.

And having a story behind it is very helpful. I love Theresa of Avila too, so there we go. From what I read, though, is it not odd that it is still on display?
