I suppose he can do it, but he has no right whatsoever to remove his town from being federally governed.
 
Like so many things, it sounds wonderful- in theory- but putting it into practice, in this country, in this day in age may not go well. (by the way, I think there are already several discussions on this floating about the boards)
 
It’s my understanding that Catholics are supposed to go out into the world and spread God’s word, not isolate themselves in some Christian utopia where anyone who disagrees with their point of view will be ostracized.
 
I wonder what official Church stance on this would be? It’s an interesting question, in this day and age it’s a nice way to remove near occaision which is beyond rampant. I wonder if it will have a full Catholic police dept and restrictive gun laws.

That sounds like smorgasboard of black market goods waiting to happen.

While I see you point, I think this is just another way to give witness to the faith, reminds me of contemplative orders. Also, if people don’t agree with their point of view, they’re not likely to live there.

Personally, I’m more concerned with the potential loss in the Ann Arbor area, when Ave Maria College and Ave Maria Law School head south. Tom Monahan and the Ave Maria Foundation have had a tremendous impact here.
