I was surprised that Duquesne could do this with a public radio station, but apparently the university holds the station’s license.

The controversy, which occurred in the middle of the station’s fall fundraising campaign, seems to be hurting donations. I guess a number of people are concerned that Duquesne will force the station to withhold something from its airwaves for political or religious reasons.

But refusing money from a tainted source has precedent. Many public radio stations refused money from Exxon after the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

And it just wasn’t right for listeners to be given warm greetings from Planned Parenthood whenever they listened to a station identified with Duquesne.

After I read the story on CWNews.com, I prompty made a small donation to the radio station via the internet and told them it was “applause” for yanking the Planned Parenthood ads and returning their donation, under the direction of their Catholic license holder.
