I just looked at the Wikipedia page for that and it sounds like a film I would greatly enjoy. Thank you for the recommendation, exnihilo , because I had never heard of that one! I’m going to seek it out, even though I have a brand new Catholic DVD sitting right here next to me, and which for some reason I’ve been unable to bring myself around to watch for months now.

Glad to help. I enjoy the film. I think it isn’t exactly true to Chesterton’s Father Brown, but I enjoy it nonetheless. And it has some good Catholic elements. Not to spoil it but pay attention to the subtle mistake the police make, and are gently corrected for, in the early part of the movie.

The Detective. It is a Father Brown movie starring Alec Guinness. Guinness converted to Catholicism in part due to an experience while filming the movie.

I was going to name that one also. They have shown it recently on TCM or the Movies! channel. I think Alec Guineas is a great Father Brown.

TCM ,Turner Classic Movies had a film on a Saturday night with Ricardo Montaban and Maximillan Schell as St.Joseph of Cupertino. I liked it, but had never heard of it before.
