#7 But do you think if they were going for Brunch or something after mass rather than the beach they would dress appropriately?

Nota Bene:
I wish those suggesting that would use the numbers provided.

This is #1.
Oops, sorry Nota Bene. The next time you start a thread (and this is a good thread) you may want to consider setting up a poll with instructions to explain thier voting decisions.

God bless

good grief Nota Bene! I must say that I sincerely hope you are more charitable to your fellow parishoners than the strangers on this board and I hope the good Lord is more charitable to you than you are to the least of His sheep - ragged and unworthy though they all are compared to you.

I think the real question here isn’t whether God cares about what you wear to church - it’s whether God agrees with Nota Bene’s dress code. Nota Bene seems to assume He does. Talk about presumption!

I also have another view on going to Mass. Yes, He is a King of Kings, but He is also our Father in heaven. When I go to Mass, I’m in my father’s home. It is a place of respect, it is a place of comfort, it is a place where I can be comfortable in being what He is/has raised me to be. Sometimes I dress up for an occassion at my Father’s house. Sometimes I visit at my worst and lowest - but still in need of Him and His guidance and nurishment. Sometimes, most of the time, I come to Him just because it is what I should do and I’m glad to do it for His sake. And once, I came to HIm with nothing and has nothing and over time He has made me more than I could have imagined. How gratefull I am that He didn’t turn me away.

Yes, there are other options than not going or dressing improper, but I can assure you that being critical about a persons looks isn’t going to do much for getting them to confess their hearts. I’ll restate: turning anyone away from the True Church and God puts your own soul in jeapardy and doesn’t lead anyone to a closer relatinship to God. It just gives you a reason to think your a better Catholic than someone else.

Has anyone other than me noticed that Nota Bene’s threads are always combative and rather nasty in nature?! This should have been a good thread, but it sure degraded quickly…

I don’t know what Protestants wear to their Sunday services. I’m too busy attending Catholic Mass.

Martha (Rob’s Wife) Your My Hero, I Personally Agree With Everything You Just Posted 😃 :clapping: :yup: :amen: :blessyou:

Nota Bene:
While they cannot offer an answer or even meaningful dialogue, they certainly come here to vent. I would be willing to bet that they are extremely defensive about how they personally dress for the Mass and they are simply projecting here.

I wonder why such a simple question is causing so much consternation? Perhaps because it cannot be answered by most Catholics without feeling at least a tinge of guilt?
Ah, there’s another old Crusader tactic. “Anyone who claims to disagree with my premise, really agrees with me and is feeling guilty about not living up to my standards.”

By your fruits you shall be known. Doesn’t it get old?

Amen to that, Nota Bene has proven to have a real problem with how everyone but Nota Bene dresses, I don’t think you could make him/her happy no matter what. Dress covering your body but dress as you want, don’t dress a certain way because someone like Nota Bene says so, do it for you, don’t live your life because of what someone else says, live your life for God and who really cares how other churches dress?? Who is going to other religions churches to see what they wear? Weird

I think there is simply nobody who can live up to Nota Benes standards but really, who wants too? I just think some of the posts are so crazy but others are really hurt by the things Nota Bene says, you have to be careful with your words, you can really hurt people. :crying:

All you offer is another excuse.

On my way home from Mass, or driving from the Mass to the Divine Liturgy at another parish, I typically several Protestant groups “congregating” around their parishes.

I’m not “too busy” to notice what they are wearing…

The simple fact that you are taking the time to retort says something very curious about youself.

My guess is that you’re a person like Tantum ego described in his posting – a “rebel.” I’ll guess further that you have very low self esteem that certainly is not helped by what you wear to Mass. Feeling a touch self conscious? Why not post elsewhere? You’re non-value added (NVA) here…

One must ask why you even make the effort to post here. To look foolish and petty? Something is festering inside of you and it sounds a great deal like bitterness/hatred.

Why not post elsewhere? Your efforts are NVA here…

Yes, PLEASE! I would really like to know why most Protestants have recoved so much better than most Catholics with respect to the horrible church attire of the 1960’s/1970’s.

Get behind me Satan

Nota Bene, you are the most Un Christian I have ever seen who claims to be a Catholic Christian, just listen to yourself, you need to get to confession fast, what is your problem, your true colors are shining through very fast, you are a big, mean, bully, just becuase someone doesn’t agree with you then you bully them, that sounds very not like what Jesus would do, how can you profess to be a christian? Shame on you:tsktsk:

You’re also NVA on this thread.

Why not actually try to answer the questions I raised in posting #1, or refrain from posting all together?

And you’re a nasty judge – and your comments are NVA.

Why not pass on this thread if you have nothing productive to add?

just becuase you start a thread does not mean you own it, goodness me, anyone can post and you have been very, very rude to all these very nice people, if you don’t like us posting then don’t read the posts, gee, thats easy enough, I’m having a great time. 🙂

Adding NVA postings like you are doing does nothing but make you look foolish.

It DOES however beg the question:

Why are a handful of people so agitated about this thread? After all, read question #1 – nothing nasty about it.

The answer I believe is that there are people here who dress extremely poorly when attending the Mass for the reasons Tantum ergo gave in an earlier posting and for a long time they have felt guilt.

This thread is the perfect medium for them to vent their personal anger. It’s becoming more and more transparent…

Hey wait a minute Norta Bene…your whole topic is basically saying that Catholics don’t dress as nice as protestants. Well I am not a Catholic, but a Christian interested in Catholocism and thinking about converting to Catholocism.

If Protestants believe in sola scripture and I attend a Trinity Lutheran Church, does that not make me a Protestant? Have you been belittling my attire all this time assuming I was a Catholic? Then again I’m probably wrong about it all.
