Hey there SUPERCATHOLIC, I went on you tube and watched the The One True Faith and it is good. I am glad people like you and the others are conversating with me on this subject. It is always good to talk to people. I dont know if this is natural with the situation that I’m in. My wife and I are basicly seperated. We have been living apart with the exception of the once or twice a month visit, since Feb 2009. Since, we have had the situation come up on Christmas day she has been distant from me sometimes and sometimes I think she thinks we are normal again. I left Alabama on the 2nd and since then I have only talked to her about 30 min. I want to talk to her but to be real with you all, I dont know if it is a good thing to talk to her. I love her and would love for my FAMILY to be in communion with the Catholic church (that will never happen, to strong of a SB stronghold). I am ready for what ever is going to happen. I would like to start over. Now, that I know what to look for in a wife. I know now that relationships arent just sex and lust. it is about sharing your lives together serving God and each other. I have done to much to my wife. When we got married I was inmature and I guess I thought getting married ment you have a ---- buddy for life. Dont get me wrong, I love my wife. We have both agreed that we are not in love with each other anymore. The one thing I have been doing and Im going to do is talk to my son every night and send him cards every week. Just to let him know that I still love him. He didnt ask for any of this and I dont want him to think it is his fault.

I just want to be happy and if my wife isnt happy which she hasnt been, I want her to be happy. I just think what it would be like to have a family that goes to Mass with you. I wonder what its like to take communion. I havent taken it in so long I wonder. I'm just ready to do whatever it takes to get back in communion, if that means get a divorce and annulled, or get my wife to get married in the church.
Well, I’m sorry to ramble on on stuff you all already know about. I im stuck here in the BOQ here in Beaufort and it gets lonesome so just bare with me.
Peace be with you all…
I myself have been divorced before my friend. My son, who has lived with his mother since that day, only comes to see me once every two weeks and some in the summer. I wasn’t the best father when his mother I were married, I was only 18 at the time.
I feel soooo horrible for you man, and will pray for you. The road ahead will not be an easy one. The KEY thing to focus on, is the time you can spend with your child, should be quality time. You raise him no differently when he is with, as you would have if you were still with his mother.
My current, and God willing last wife so to speak, and I have son as well. We have been very involved in the Catholic Church since I was 23, and “came back”. She was an athiest when I meet her. We have raised our son together as a Catholic, and of course my oldest son as well. His mother was always a SB, as you put it, but never ever ever went to church. Years and years I have raised my oldest in the Catholic faith, and never been allowed to have him baptized. I have pleaded and begged, only to get the answer “I don’t want my son learning that Catholic s***”
Well…just today, she called me. She has finally, after 13 years of me raising my son in the faith, decided she is going to go back to the SB church. She even told me she is going to have him baptized. I wept…I wept…oh did I weep. All my time, all my trying to show him some faith, just to be denied something yet again as a father to my son.
She normally scares the hell outta me, as most women that are angry tend to, but I called her. I explained how much it had meant to me to bring him up, as much as possible, in the Catholic faith. I explained that if he chose to get baptized in the Baptist church, I would not fight it.
I really have no say in matters, no matter what court papers say But I stressed very strongly that my son had always said he desired to be Catholic, baptized Catholic, and that I did not want my son taught the horrible things that SB believe about Catholics. She said we can talk about it, which is much better than the normal response.
You don’t ever give up man. Times will seem so very dark in regards to how much you can and can not do with you child. Stick true to what you believe, and in time, it will win out.
Embrace that desire for the Eucharist, as it will never lead you astray. Embrace your own personal cross that Christ has allowed you to bear, through free will and decisions that were made in your life I am sure. Cling tight to that cross, learn to love it. Learn to love the suffering that may come. Use it, and draw closer to the Christ and the Eucharist.
I will name you by name when I pray for you, as most of my prayers for those here are a general “shout out” to God for the people on these forums.
Sorry for the length, but I know your pain all to well my friend.
Peace and all good things,
Matt
