Adele Jones at 83 enjoys a carefree lifestyle at her independent-living apartment, reading novels in a rocking chair, catching Masses in a chapel down the hallway and scheduling shuttle service for jaunts across San Antonio.

Soon, her life will get a bit hectic.

Today, she’ll be ordained a deacon — and months later a priest — in an unsanctioned ceremony that she claims will usher her into the all-male priesthood of the Catholic Church.

That is unfortunate, since bad reporting is the only reason she would believe such a thing. What happened last summer was that the Vatican grouped both offenses (along with several others) into the same judicial category, which affects how they are handled. I think a similar grouping, in the US judicial system, would be how burglary and murder are both considered felonies. This doesn’t mean that burglary and murder are considered to be of equal gravity.
 
Way throw your life away and possibly risk eternity right before you die. Great idea.

Wrong. She’ll pretend to be ordained a deacon, and then pretend to be ordained a priest, and incur excommunication into the bargain.

I’m surprised a self-described Catholic is surprised. Take a gander at this. And this.

And Jesus not only submitted to the Law of Moses but also fulfilled it. So don’t you DARE co-opt Jesus in support of a rebel against the Church He Himself founded.

I might not be too open minded but I see the first red flag when a Catholic gets a PhD in ministry from a United Methodist seminary.
 
Ugh in this politically correct time why are they still saying “women priests” ? Uh she would be a priestess or a deaconess. And yes I know it makes no difference. I don’t support rebellion against the Church just irritated with more liberal hypocrisy.

Anyway, were is she going to be a “priest”? No diocesan parish would let her say mass or do anything else.she did study at the oblate School of theology, but why as a Catholic as devout as she claims herself to be, would you go to a protestant seminary.

And yes, she would be called a priestess or deaconess. The problem is, men have always been priests and deacons since the earliest days of the church.However, there were women deacons, or deaconesses.I believe St.Paul in one of his letters mention St.Phoebe, who was a deaconess. We sadly don’t have very much information on their exact role or women period in the early church. I think even amongst groups like the Cathars, those who consecrated the bread for communion for the people were the male parfaits, and there were even Cathar bishops, again men.

Men can’t get pregnant and woman can’t be priests. I wish people realized they are protesting against the teaching of Jesus passed on through His Church.

Yes, I will pray for her and all who have dissident opinions that they learn the error of their opinion and realize they are protesting against Jesus. Fortunately, Jesus loves them and we should as well.

“Franciscan spirituality”? So I guess she is in the SFO or a secular institute? Her doing this is grounds for being dismissed from the order; since members promise obedience to the Holy Father and to the Founder St Francis of Assisi.

This reminds of that Irish pop singer, Sinead O"Connor, who is a ‘Catholic’ Priestess in some offshoot of Catholicism which ordains women. Some of you might remember her, the one who tore up a picture of John Paul ll on stage during a concert? Thankfully, we don’t hear much of her loud protesting mouth anymore…

I had to go Google the ‘bishop’ that is conducting the ordination. Found that she was ordained by several, including clergy from the Old Catholic church, same group that Sinead O’Connor was ordained by.

They not only support women priests and deacons, they support married and gay clergy as well. Found a male priest who is a member who lives with his male partner. These priestesses are involved in gay and lesbian ministry, feminist theology, new age spirituality and Call to Action.

Typical liberal dissident cafeteria Catholics. Why am I not surprised??? :confused:

How can these people sleep at night and not worry about the condition of their souls and their eternal destiny?

And the priestess existed in various forms of paganism. It was unknown in Judaism which ended with the destruction of the Temple. The priestess has never been part of true Christianity.

The priest stands in persona Christi. Males create outside of themselves. Females create internally. God’s creation is external to himself.

It is not possible for women to be priests.

The existence of female rabbis is irrelevant. Modern Judaism aka “Judaism without a Temple” is not the Judaism of the Old Testament, but a creation of man without mandate from God.

The existence of female clerics in Protestant denominations are irrelevant. The Catholic Church is not a denomination, it is the one and only Church established by Christ. Protestant denominations are creations of man without mandate from God.
