The head of our RE in our parish uses this Bible and I was wondering if it is a good Bible to buy to use with my kids. I’ve heard so many negative things about all of the Catholic Bibles.
In this, thou hast answered rightly.I wouldn’t recommend it, the inclusive language diminishes the prophecies of Christ.
For an easy to read Bible, I would suggest the New Jerusalem. It still has inclusive language, but not of the sort regarding God.
Many prophecies regarding Christ are gender neutral in the NRSV. For example, the first psalm should read something like “Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly,” but the NRSV renders it “Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked.” It’s not even a prophecy anymore. The NRSV does not use gender-neutral
language regarding God. It refers to God as HE.
