Hello all, I was wondering if Catholicism for dummies has recieved the Imprateur and the Nihil Obstat.

God Bless

we checked it out from our local library and was so impressed we went to purchase it from our parish… only they sell the Idiot’s Guide to Catholicism…

it wasn’t until we got home that i noticed it lacks the same nhil obstat and imprimatur in the front cover…

should this concern me?

well, i think i just answered my own question by looking it up on amazon:thumbsup:

seems there aren’t many fans of the idiot’s guide… i wonder why my parish sells that one and not the for dummies book?

Yes. That book is notorious for serious errors.
Take it back for a refund and get the other one.

That is a very good question… It could be an innocent mistake, or it could be telling you something about the parish.

CFD, yes. This is fine to read.

Idiots Guide is COMPLETE opinionated, outdated trash. Please do not buy it.

Just what I was thinking. Catholicism for Dummies, written by Fr. John Trigilio, PhD, ThD, and Fr. Kenneth Brighenti, PhD, carries both seals. Thus, it may be used as a catechism. RCIA programs should use it, IMO. I highly recommend it and learn something each time I read it.

I see that the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Catholicism has rather poor ratings on Amazon.
