Catholicism was wiped out in Scandinavia by persecution following the Protestant reformation, so that a hundred years ago, very few Catholics were left in its countries of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. It is surprising to learn how Catholicism is coming back, largely because of immigration, and now, when it comes, for one, to Norway, Catholics are 5% of the population. See

Our local Trappistine monastery, a few years ago, established a daughter convent in Tautra, Norway, on the grounds of a monastery destroyed during the Reformation.
