Titus 3:9-10

9But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.

We need to keep this in mind dealing with folks who come here to stir up trouble. If they are not willing to dialouge but only want to cause contention then it becomes unprofitable to continue beating around the bush with them endangering our own spirtual life by falling into anger

I’m sorry, but that’s not funny at all.

If I’m not mistaken, the foundation of Christianity is the belief that we are all born into original sin and someone had to pay the price, and that person was Jesus Christ, and the only way to get into Heaven is to admit we are sinners and accept His sacrifice. The church I attend believes that, and I believe it. Have I been lied to?Without Jesus Christ, there is no hope for this world.
I as a Catholic don’t deny your acceptance of Jesus as your Savior by faith, nor do I deny that He is the only way to heaven, John 14:6. What I would question is the Protestant idea that any church that says it teaches Christ is teaching the entire truth as to what Jesus and the Bible teach and if it does, then doesn’t it seem reasonable to ask this church to give not only Scriptural evidence but also historical evidence that support its teachings?
Not to sound bragadoucious, but Catholicism surely can give a plethora of evidence from Scripture and history to show it was established as the authoritative church by Christ Himself and that its teachings are Scripturally and historically sound.

No, Andromeda, you have not been lied to. However, by accepting these truths you are becoming catholic. This is a truth that is taught by, for, and through the catholic church. I am glad that you have embraced this truth, and welcome you as one of my 'brethren in Christ".

And what do Protestants say? Where are their Apostolic successors? What claim do the Protestants have to Christ’s one true Church?
Everyone is part of Christ’s church who has been born again and regenerated of the Spirit.

No one can exclude who they please.

So, Christ lied to St. Peter, when He promised to protect His Church?
Nope. Christ’s Body is alive and well.

Always has been.
(Matthew 16:18-19) But, if Christ lied, then why should we worship Him? :hmmm:
It’s a good thing He did not lie.
What happened to Christ’s organizational church - the one that we read about in the Book of Acts, and throughout the epistles of the New Testament? 🤷
There are churches…and then there is Christ’s church.

The 2 are not synonymous.

Which means that they need to come. Forsake not the assembly of the Church as is the manner of some, as it says in the Good Book.
No one can exclude who they please.
Nobody is “excluding” - we want everybody in the whole world to join Christ’s Church. You’ve gotta come to Jesus’ Church, though - not a man-made Protestant one. 😉

Of course they are. The particular Churches (city churches) are those Dioceses that are part of Christ’s Church, under St. Peter’s successor, the Pope. We are members of our Diocese and of the Catholic Church, both, at the same time, because our Diocescan Bishop is in communion with the Bishop of Rome.

Is it just me? Where is the opening poster?

Seems like a “hit and run” post…I see an opening post, more than 25 posts later, 2 pages… but no response [or followup] from the OP

Enjoyed the discussion but do not think the OP is listening [reading]…

All those who are chosen are part of Christ’s one Body, his One Church. He knows those who are His. He commanded all believers to be baptized, however, and those who are not, did not follow His commandment.

This only assumes they are outside of Christ’s Body.

You do understand what that means, right?

You don’t like it when people say the same of Catholics…
Forsake not the assembly of the Church as is the manner of some, as it says in the Good Book.
Actually, it does not say that.

And secondly, Christians gather together all the time.
No one can exclude who they please.

Huh?

If you got any evidence that all non-Catholics are outside of the Body of Christ, then please present it.

…

I agree with you here totally.

I am glad to see we are united on this one.

I agree with you, Atemi, with the addition that baptism is what makes us members of His body. Jesus commanded that all who come to him in obedience are to have a trinitarian baptism.

" For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks, slaves or free - and all were made to drink of one Spirit." 1 Cor 12:12-13

While I recognize that people who have “accepted Jesus into their heart” and believe they are baptized in the Holy Spirit, something of the fullness of God’s intention is missing without appropriate water baptism.

I also agree with you that only Christ knows those that are truly His.
