=guanophore;6744570]This is not true! I will agree that they are isolated from the successor of Peter, but it was Peter who started the line of succession in Antioch, and other points East. The successors installed by Paul during his journeys are all valid successors. This is why the Roman Communion recognizes the Apsostolicity and Sacraments among our Eastern brethren.
The reason they refrain is because they don’t consider them valid. They consider that the Roman Church separated herself from communion many centuries ago and has not returned.
This dear friend borders on the absurd. Your saying that ROME chose to seperate from the EAST?
From their point of view, the Latin Rite has separated herself, and as further evidence of apostasy, cite the Protestant Reformation, which they see as the spawn of the Latin innovations to the faith. They are stronly urging us to reconcile that “mess” created before approaching them to reconcile. They see the Reformation as a problem created by the Latin rite that should be cleaned up by it.
This position IF TRUE??? is not even worth discusion.
From their point of view, the Pope has inflated himself to the status of “pontiff, vicar, and visible head” and taken upon the status of infallibility, doing that which is anathema, changing things handed down to us from the Apostles, by “adding”. It is the same charge the Protestants level, but for different reasons.
I’m uncelar if your in agreemnt with this nonsense? Matt. 16:16-19 is exceedingly clear; and th Apostles and the Early Fathers had no disagreement on the issue.
Keys
“The key is the symbol of the authority of the vizier (the major domo/ prime minister/ treasurer/ vicar) of a royal household. He literally carried the keys attached to his belt, with which to open the storehouses and other treasuries on behalf of the king. In Scripture only the Messiah and the Apostle Peter are spoken of as having this authority. The Messiah is the Vizier of the great King, the Eternal Father, bringing to earth the treasure of Redemption from the Storehouse of the Father’s mercy. Peter is the Messiah’s Vizier, the Vicar of Christ, who through his successors in every age is head of the Church on earth which distributes those treasures in the name of the Lord.(Isaiah 22:22, Rev 3:7, Mt 16:19) To the other apostles is given the power to bind and to loose, but not the supreme power of the keys (Mt 18:18)”.

**Isaiah 22:22: **
I will place the key of the House of David on his shoulder; when he opens, no one shall shut, when he shuts, no one shall open.
**Rev. 3:7 : **
"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write this: " 'The holy one, the true, who holds the key of David, who opens and no one shall close, who closes and no one shall open, says this:
Matthew 16:19 :
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Matthew 18:18 :
Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
This is not an accurate statement. They also think the Roman Pontiff can repent, and return to the fold.
God willing this is the first and lst time I will hear such nonsense.
I think you understanding of sacraments may need some polishing. A person who recieves a sacrament in an unworthy manner brings grave consequences onto himself.
TRUE, but what does it hve to do with the rest of the post?
