Actually there seemed to be more emphasis on Jesus at the protestant service. As is the Catholic Mass but more so!
Peace!

The protestant service seemed more personal to me. Like a group of people getting together to praise God and pray. I thought it was nice.
How so? The Mass is all about Jesus, from start to finish. You know that “sign of the Cross” thingy that we do at the beginning and end of every Mass? That’s Jesus on the Cross, dying for our sins.
Have you thought of joining a Catholic prayer group or Bible study group? I think you would enjoy it.The protestant service seemed more personal to me. Like a group of people getting together to praise God and pray. I thought it was nice.
Yes I attend a prayer group on tuesday nights to praise God & pray. It is very nice, but it is only at Mass that I get to partake of Jesus in the Eucharist. If you are trying to tell me that what you like in a protestant service is on par with the Eucharist I have to ask if you understand what the Mass is all about. The protestant service seemed more personal to me. I don’t think I do…I’m struggling with the idea.Do you believe in the Real Presence in the Eucharist?
No, I don’t.Thank You for your reply.
However, I fail to grasp your point so I will re-introduce my original question.
Do You understand that to espouse the doctrine of Purgatory is to deny the sufficiency of Christ’s work upon the cross to save us from our sin?
I’m doing it as a social event since a lot of my friends are involved. It actually is a lot of fun. The people are very nice, down to earth and welcoming. We have cook outs and such it’s fun. It’s non-denominational so there are some protestant views from all over. Catholics are very welcome to join and I haven’t met any hostility. If I ever do then of course I leave for good. How are you “learning more Scripture” from them, differently or better than how you could learn it either by studying by yourself, or by joining a Catholic Bible study group? And in the mean time, you are hearing Protestant interpretations of the various passages that they are looking at - many of which are at odds with the teachings of the Apostles and of the Catholic Church. Obvious things like whether Mary had other children or not (she didn’t) aside, there will be more subtle things that can slip by because they are conveyed more by attitude than by words (for example, the idea that all necessary teaching is found in the Bible alone), and you could easily pick up on an attitude without realizing it, that would undermine your Catholic faith.
Yea but I’ve been confirmed for like 4 years now, I’m pretty grounded in my faith and don’t plan on leaving. I spent years studying the protestant belief and concluded that the catholic church is more compatible with my personal morals and beliefs not that I should choose what I believe and not at my convenience but it works out that way which is good. I still question things in the church like how some sins can be on the same level as murder (such as some sexual sins not as serious as fornication like lust or passionate kissing = mortal sin) but I accept it.No sin at all. But, you get at most 3 years time to decide if you wish to be Catholic, Protestant, or N.D. disciple.
Some people spend a lifetime dipping toes in various streams of water … and never make up their minds what their Christian mission in life is.
My understanding is that Mary’s perpetual virginity isn’t a dogma but it is a very firmly established and agreed-upon teaching. (Not that that answers your question. Also as a side note and out of curiosity, how does the church no for sure that mary didn’t have other children? Is it assumed and through faith in the scripture or is it proven somewhere?
I believe what the church believes but I’m just curious and open to possibilities that she “could have” had other children. If she did it wouldn’t change jesus’s divinity would it?
Thank You for your post.I don’t follow your logic. What do you understand Purgatory to be ? Why would it diminish the Cross ?
In light of the Pauline doctrine of justification by grace through faith, how is it possible that an afterlife cleansing through punishment is necessary for a Christian who has trusted in Jesus to cleanse him from all His sins?
Wasn't Jesus' punishment for our transgressions sufficient? Didn't He redeem us in that He suffered our death?
Maybe our Church does not have all the answers we are looking for?Somehow i think some catholics got this so call ecumenism backword.\
i thought that the ecumenism was for catholics to go into the world to evangelize their faith and bring others into the Church.
somehow i see many catholics being swept into other faiths. as if we are all the same with no distinction.
the CC is not going to tell us not to go to other churches. that is up to us to discern. we know what they teach, if they believe what we believe then they would be catholics.
so why we as catholics who know that our Church teaches the Truth which every man should learn go and learn from the unlearned?
unequal yoke.
Just a thought.
This is the so-called “ecumenism of the return”. It is no longer in vogue among those at the top of the Church hierarchy (see here):i thought that the ecumenism was for catholics to go into the world to evangelize their faith and bring others into the Church.
God didn’t put protestants on earth…God put people on earth who chose to split away from the Roman Catholic Church. Why would god put protestants on the earth if god had intended catholics and all christians to help one another is it not right to see what and how another local church does things.

First, God did’nt put ptotestants on the earth. They were’nt even around until 500 years ago. I also think you missunderstude the question. Why should a good practiceing catholic go to a protestant servace that will contradict what that catholic believes?
A different perspective…maybe the Catholic Church doesn’t have all of the answers…how would you know unless you looked elsewhere?
It is a good thing to learn about other faiths however because it can further help you understand your own.
