Okay, let us play your game. Let me name some of the atrocities the good ole ‘secular’ US of A has achieved of late:
  1. Saved the Muslims of Bosnia from the Serbs - when not a single Muslim soldier from a single Muslim country volunteered to help their European Ummah.
  2. Save the world from Communism.
  3. Save the Afghans from the Taliban.
  4. Save the Iraqis from Saddam.
  5. Give billions in aid to Africa and the Muslim world.
Yup - those are the atrocities of the Great Satan, USA.

Please get some perspective - Muslims have and continue to persecute and kill millions of non-Muslims. In the USA we have racial and religious discrimination laws - try to find something similar in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.
As secular you the United States are, the fact that your president said he received orders from God to become president and invade Iraq would make him a prophet no? And lets face it, presidents are decided by American christians these days.

Ok ill play with your examples if you promise to move to another thread ok?
  1. I freely admit ignorance to this pt so in good standing ill submit to what you say
  2. Saving the world from Communism at what cost? The US gave countless armaments and support to Huessein(sp?), Bin Laden, the Taliban and an organization that would become Al-Quada. 9/11 was effectively your pet biting you in the ***.
Lets not forget the countless democractically elected gov’ts (Mostly in South America and Central) that the US toppled because it saw it as too red for their liking and replaced them with dictators. Look at Castilla and current day Chavez was kidnapped by terrorists funded by US operatives in an attempt of a Coo.
The shining Path of Peru and the 2 major terrorist groups were also funded by America to keep the area from industrilizing.
  1. Yep I agree, thou it should be pointed out that the US created the Taliban in the first place and trained and armed them in the first place.
  2. By liberate, you mean destroy their infastructure, start a civil war, legions of death squads, mass bombing of civilians and plunge the entire reigion into chaos then yes they were liberated…of their lives at least.
  3. If by aid you mean armaments to Dictators for them to shed blood then yes! You are correct!
Ill add to the game. During WW2 the Japanese had 2 divisions that specialized on human experimentation. The test subjects ranged anywhere from children to American POWs.
Experiments ranged from sticking someone in a freezer to see how long they live to vivisection and sometimes removal of organs to see how long they life w/o them.
After the war the Japanse gov’t tryed to hide all this. In recompese for immunity of the courts, the US was given the data for these tests and let the butchers of these divisions scott-free.

So yes, US is the paradym of morality and goodwill

I’m not questioning the crusade, nor fear the end of Christianity because it can’t as Christ promised.
Country Main religious groups involved Type of conflict

Côte d’Ivoire Muslims, Indigenous, Christian Following the elections in late 2000, government security forces “began targeting civilians solely and explicitly on the basis of their religion, ethnic group, or national origin. The overwhelming majority of victims come from the largely Muslim north of the country, or are immigrants or the descendants of immigrants…” 5 A military uprising continued the slaughter in 2002.

Cyprus Christians & Muslims The island is partitioned, creating enclaves for ethnic Greeks (Christians) and Turks (Muslims). A UN peace keeping force is maintaining stability.

East Timor Christians & Muslims A Roman Catholic country. About 20% of the population died by murder, starvation or disease after they were forcibly annexed by Indonesia (mainly Muslim). After voting for independence, many Christians were exterminated or exiled by the Indonesian army and army-funded militias in a carefully planned program of genocide and religious cleansing. The situation is now stable.

India Animists, Hindus, Muslims & Sikhs Various conflicts that heat up periodically producing loss of life.
Indonesia, province of Ambon Christians & Muslims After centuries of relative peace, conflicts between Christians and Muslims started during 1999-JUL in this province of Indonesia. The situation now appears to be stable.

Indonesia, province of Halmahera Christians & Muslims 30 people killed. 2,000 Christians driven out; homes and churches destroyed.

Iraq Kurds, Shiite Muslims, Sunni Muslims, western armed forces By mid-2006, a small scale civil war, primarily between Shiite and Sunni Muslims started. The situation appears to be steadily degenerating.

Kashmir Hindus & Muslims A chronically unstable region of the world, claimed by both Pakistan and India. The availability of nuclear weapons and the eagerness to use them are destabilizing the region further. More details Thirty to sixty thousand people have died since 1989.

Kurdistan Christians, Muslims Assaults on Christians (Protestant, Chaldean Catholic, & Assyrian Orthodox). Bombing campaign underway.

Macedonia Macedonian Orthodox Christians & Muslims Muslims (often referred to as ethnic Albanians) engaged in a civil war with the rest of the country who are primarily Macedonian Orthodox Christians. A peace treaty has been signed. Disarmament by NATO is complete.

Middle East Jews, Muslims, & Christians The peace process between Israel and Palestine suffered a complete breakdown. This has resulted in the deaths of thousands, in the ratio of three dead for each Jew. Major strife broke out in 2000-SEP. Major battle in Lebanon during mid-2006. No resolution appears possible.

Nigeria Christians, Animists, & Muslims Yourubas and Christians in the south of the country are battling Muslims in the north. Country is struggling towards democracy after decades of Muslim military dictatorships.

Pakistan Suni & Shi’ite Muslims Low level mutual attacks.
Philippines Christians & Muslims A low level conflict between the mainly Christian central government and Muslims in the south of the country has continued for centuries.

Russia,
Chechnya Russian Orthodox Christians, Muslims The Russian army attacked the breakaway region. Many atrocities have been alleged on both sides. According to the Voice of the Martyrs: “In January 2002 Chechen rebels included all Christians on their list of official enemies, vowing to ‘blow up every church and mission-related facility in Russia’.”

South Africa Animists & “Witches” Hundreds of persons, suspected and accused of witches practicing black magic, are murdered each year.

Sri Lanka Buddhists & Hindus Tamils (a mainly Hindu 18% minority) are involved in a war for independence since 1983 with the rest of the country (70% Sinhalese Buddhist). Hundreds of thousands have been killed. The situation in mid-2006 is degenerating.

Sudan Animists, Christians & Muslims Complex ethnic, racial, religious conflict in which the Muslim regime has committed genocide against both Animists and Christians in the south of the country. Slavery and near slavery practiced. A ceasefire was signed in 2006-MAY between some of the combatants. 3 Warfare continues.

Thailand Buddhists & Muslims Muslim rebels have been involved in a bloody insurgency in southern Thailand – a country that is 95% Buddhist. The army has seized power and has agreed to talks with the rebels.

Tibet Buddhists & Communists Country was annexed by Chinese Communists in late 1950’s. Brutal suppression of Buddhism continues. *

So what? The Constitution of the United States of America separates religion and state. It doesn’t matter what the President says - most if not all Presidents are Christians (some more devout than others) but it doesn’t follow that when they act, they act for God. They act for the secular state of the United States of America.

Since when does helping the enemy of my enemy become a moral evil? You claimed the USA committed atrocities - is helping the Afghans defend their homeland against the Soviets an atrocity? It’s damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

Besides, the fact that I help you kick out the Soviets twenty years ago does not give you the right to attack me today. You get the picture? My help was limited solely to helping you kick out the Soviets. The fact that you subsequently became a terrorist Islamist evil-doer is not my responsibility.

Ummm… so the US failed to prosecute the criminals. Is that why the US is now responsible for that atrocity?

Failing to prosecute is not responsibility for the action itself. Go it? Or do you hold the US government and people responsible everytime a cat burglar fails to get prosecuted?

Of course the US is not a paradigm of morality or goodwill - who said it is.

But that is a far cry from accusing it of atrocities as you have done.

It all boils down to this in a nutshell. We are all sinners. Christians, Moslems, all! The root of all sin is pride. Pride kills the humble heart. Pride makes us say " Thank you Lord that I am not like the others" Pride makes us seem better than other people. Pride makes the “Good Ole USA” do things that are horrible. Sure, we arent as “bad” as the others, but we are all guilty. Pride = sin
We are all sinners. Why cant we love others as Jesus commanded us to? Because we are sinners. We may try, but we fail. Its striving for a humble heart that enables us to eventually succeed. There are no proud people in heaven!

Mike

Good to hear that instead of the old ‘Death to America’ chants. It does get so tiresome.

So?

So?

So what? We did enter in the end - you’re saying we should have entered at all?

Ever heard of China?

Self interest is nothing to be ashamed of. Just look at what happens when you try to do something good without obvious immediate benefit to yourself for a change - like getting rid of Saddam.

Hasn’t every other government?

Thanks.
Killing innocent people throwing over country governments with marines is just so? I find that immoral myself, but to all their own.

No we should of entered when our allies needed us not when we couldn’t wait anylonger.

China is afraid of N. Korea at the moment, to the point they are being very cooperative with the US at the moment, so what about it?

I don’t beleive in doing something for self interest, others before yourself, a Christain and military value I take to heart.

Most goverments do manipulate, but we ahve the resources to do it wide scale and control our outcomes.

A lot of people got killed when we invaded Germany and overthrew Hitler. We are so evil to have done that. Those poor folks were just sitting around eating sausage. Open your eyes. Think.

you fail to see my point I think, I don’t care what a religious dominant country does to people, many Christian countries in the day did it’s share too. My question is why are Christians so hateful, angry, unforgiving, blood thirsty, hypocritical people they are today? I watch the news and read the papers and take history classes in school I know all these things about history you bring up, but none of them really reach out to my point, we don’t see eye to eye my friend.

Id rather a portion die than the entire region. And cmon, this wasnt about liberating the ppl to begin with. That was what? excuse #4?

I give you a gun - I didn’t tell you to use it to oppress your people. Which dictators are you talking about anyway? Don’t tell me… let me guess… Colonel Gaddaffi, Bashar al-Asad, Ayatollah Khomeini, Idi Amin, Foday Sankoh, Omar al-Bashir, Yasser Arafat.
Again, giving guns to dangerous ppl and forgetting about them IS unethical

Constitution would mean Bush would be wrong on sooo many many things…

You dont understand. The US kept them from being prosecuted. They considered the research much more imp’t than justice. Whats more disturbing is that some of the scientists ended up working for the US army after the war

What do you mean I have done?!

Its because they knew the kind of oppressive gov’t the Taliban wanted to impliment and after it was implimented it was left in place left alone to do w/e they wanted

You’re right they have no right to attack you, but honestly, giving a group you know is violent guns is just asking for it

Umm no, in alot of cases they were directly responsible. As in US planned, financed and armed them directly for the sole purpose of destabilizing the region lest it devop and your precious goods go up in price a dollar. Youll have to excuse me if I think Human lives are worth more than your savings on groceries

No, you only made them dangerous and gave them an edge

If you knew the person was going to be a killer and you yourself encouraged it, id say you are responsible

I merely pointing out Christianity has egg on its face as well. Honestly, the world would be a better place w/o either religion

Yes you did, Loginus. This is what you wrote:

The ‘good ol US of A’ is mother to countless atrocities globally where Saudi Arabia and other Muslim theocracies cant even compare.

Now, what are these countless atrocities globally that the good ole US of A is the mother of? You tell me.

Surely not our billions of dollars in aid to the poorest countries, including Muslim countries, every year?

Surely not our helping the Taliban defend their country against the Soviet aggression?

Surely not our helping the Afghans get rid of the barbaric taliban?

Surely not our helping the Iraqis get rid of their mass-murdering dictator?

Again read my post. Also a recommended reading is any non-American written text book on American history.
The notion of destroying other for personal gain is a time-tell tradition!😃

Are you saying American text books are untrustworthy?

Don’t cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.
Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We’ll miss him.
We’ll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We’ll miss him.
We’ll miss him.
We’re gonna miss him.
We’re gonna miss him.
No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.
But you were so loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.
I’m too smart when you’re invisible by the bone and the symbol on you. So he bashes his skull through the window while over looking the sea. Twilight amber ego. We were amused by this
Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I’m so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.
Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don’t you ****in lie.
Don’t you step out of line.
Don’t you step out of line.
Don’t you step out of line.
Don’t you ****in lie.
You’ve claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own
eulogy?
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
He had alot to say.

Come down.
Get off your ****in cross.
We need the ****in space to nail the next fool martyr.
To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For our sins and our lies.
Goodbye!!!

I find non-Americans usually are far more biased. I remember a time when Canadians and Americans were on the same side. Now Canadians have forgotten those Americans who died for them. Some of them now root for our enemies to destroy us. They are filled with glee at the thought of our cities in ruins. And they think we are hateful…

How so what?

I’m talking about the World Wars, how about you?

Chinas position with N. Korea has changed recently, do you watch the news? We basically were given permission by China to enter into N. Korea by force if we so chose unopposed by them.

We have no need to be over seas so why waste troops and lives for something that isn’t really worth it, even if it is self interest.

How is Iraq moral and not self interest? many countries have far worse dictators and regimes in charge of it doing far worse things, but they happen to be rich in oil, unlike some of those poor African countries and so on.

Isn’t the big and dominant one supposed to be held to a higher standard? It’s the role model for the rest of the world.

I’m sorry you feel that way, Loginus. I may be an atheist but I’m a patriot American. And therefore not a lefty-wishy-washy American. You don’t tell a Yank his country sucks. Dems fightin’ words, if you know what I mean.

I don’t know why Catholics/christians are so prjudice. I’ve been a member of this thread for months and read countless threads, responses take my breath away and my blood boil.Homosexuals tend to be evil in one way or another regardless of individual beleifs and behavior. Muslims are these evil beasts and targets of extreme hate!. One political party or another blah blah. Why can’t we just love and except one another. We don’t have to approve or anything, no changing beliefs or principles. Just except not everyone is of our faith, not all beleive as we do. I hear way too often about Muslims trying to force us to live their way and desire to dominate us. Well when one hears Christians saying how the government isn’t upholding our beleifs above all others and that we should do this and have this and others who are different shouldn’t do blah blah, aren’t we doing just the thing we accuse them of doing. People always talking about Christian beleifes in government and fighting off Muslims and all that, isn’t that just what we hear about Muslims trying to do and complain and whine. Christian gets killed in a Muslim country we all wail in anguish and anger. Muslims are attacked and killed in America and Christian countries as well. Even people who aren’t Muslim but are arabic and wear clothing of something Eastern or something are targets. I trust the Catholic Church completely, but her followers and those who branched off from her seem to be far from trustworthy, just a giant 2 billion army of hypocrits and war mongers. I understand that isn’t true of some, but it does seem to be the majority, it saddens me truly. Where has the love and compassion and understanding that Jesus taught? Why is there so much prjudice and self righteousness in a group who is supposed to be different, supposed to be like Christ?
I think the explosion of this thread, the way it has taken off with everyone debating about politics, shows exactly why you seem to think Christians are prejudiced.

It is because people in general have passion about what they love.

And Christians love Christ, and will defend Him, and preach His teachings from the rooftop, and spread His Truth endlessly, all because of their passion for Him.

And people are passionate about bringing the world together as one, through Jesus.

We (the Catholics) know Jesus is the Truth, and that His Church (the Catholic Church) is His Church, and we want everyone (Muslims, Jews, Protestants, etc) to come together in this Church.

That is why you may see us getting so fiery in the threads.

It does not excuse name calling, or rudeness, which sometimes does occur, but I think you should take each thread, and see how each post you find is “prejudiced” may just be “passionate”.

Of course we can love and accept one another, as we should, as we are all children of God, but that should not stop us from trying to show people the Truth, the Way, and the Light.

How so what?

I’m talking about the World Wars, how about you?
What were you saying about the World Wars? Didn’t the USA, being the foul and atrocious and immoral country that it is, enter and defeat the forces of evil twice, thus saving the world from fascism and totalitarianism?

How soon we forget.

Chinas position with N. Korea has changed recently, do you watch the news? We basically were given permission by China to enter into N. Korea by force if we so chose unopposed by them.
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about.

We have no need to be over seas so why waste troops and lives for something that isn’t really worth it, even if it is self interest.
That’s your opinion. Note that we did not send our troops to Iraq until after 9/11.

How is Iraq moral and not self interest? many countries have far worse dictators and regimes in charge of it doing far worse things, but they happen to be rich in oil, unlike some of those poor African countries and so on.
The oil is a red herring, bud. Because we pay for the oil no matter who’s in control of Iraq. You and other anti-Americans think we invaded Iraq for the oil - I got news for you, bud. We didn’t.

The fact is that Saddam miscalculated - he thought he could stare down the world wrt the weapons inspectors. The only way we could be sure he did or did not have WMDs was to invade and thus we did. It turned out he didn’t but he shouldn’t have tried to stare us down.

Isn’t the big and dominant one supposed to be held to a higher standard? It’s the role model for the rest of the world.
Says whom? You got a rule book we don’t know about?
