I received this update from Catholics Come Home:

1*. **Our ******Launch:***Over 155,000 unique visitors from all 50 states and over 80 countries visited the www.CatholicsComeHome.org website during its first 60-days. An estimated 6,000+ people returned to the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Phoenix test market in less than 3 weeks!
  1. Expansion:
In winter of 2008, the following Dioceses will launch CatholicsComeHome.org campaigns: St. Louis, Lincoln, Colorado Springs, Sacramento…with a dozen other dioceses pending. We hope to air nationally, even on the Superbowl, in 2010!
  2. *** Honors:
***a) Our founder met with various Vatican officials last week to share the world-wide acclaim for CatholicsComeHome.org.
b) We were notified that CCH commercials “Epic” and “Movie” received two top *Telly Awards *for national advertising excellence.

c) And, finally, our CCH Theological Advisory team has grown to include: **Cardinal John Foley, Bishop Thomas Olmsted, Bishop Michael Sheridan, Patrick Madrid, Dr. Peter Kreeft, Matthew Kelly, Jeff Cavins, and Steve Ray

****Please help us bring more souls home, including your family and friends who are away from the Church.

**Please be sure to pray for CatholicsComeHome.org. Pass the site along to Catholic friends to support the growth of the ministry, and e-mail inactive Catholic friends about this site to help them come home.

This is really nice. The testimonies are a plus, as it is like a journey home on the web. I would love to be part of this.🙂
Thanks for posting it as it has all the elements even our Holy Father.

I’d love to see Catholics Come Home spots on TV down here in Texas…

I’m here in the Diocese of Phoenix and they showed the testimonial spot quite a bit during Lent and Easter (only on certain local stations…others didn’t). In fact one of the people in the ad is from my parish.

It would be awesome to see it nationwide. Thanks for the info.

Thanks.

Are the telly’s the definitive advertising awards - like the Oscars are for film?

Was this award in a "religious’ category or a general award? I could not tell from the links.

If the latter, how often do religious ads win the award?

Thanks again.

It won in the “film and video silver” category.

I don’t see any categories beyond: Commercial winners silver, Film/Video winners silver, Commercial winners bronze and Film/Video winners bronze. I don’t see a specific category entitled “religion”, so I would say, no, it didn’t win in a “religious” category. It won a general award.

Are the awards like Oscars? Well, according to them, it is one of the “most prestigious awards in advertising and video and film production”.

Thanks again. i noticed in reredaing it is a generic award. Silver category.

I assume there is a gold category but couldn’t find it.

BVut I guess my bottom question is the following - is it unusual for a religious ad to win a Telly or fairly common?

I realize you may not know. I am asking as this is one of the best, maybe the best - Epic - religious ads I have seen.

Actually, no, there is no gold category. The site says the silver is the highest honor.

As far as how often religious videos win, I don’t know, but looking through the titles of the entries, I don’t see many religious titles. I see McDonald’s, Macy’s, Little Caesar’s, Guitar Hero 3, Pemco Insurance…

Here’s one:

Abilene Christian University - The Making of Jacob’s Dream

I have been to the site Catholics Come Home, ordered the book, and even ordered the free extra copies of the book to hand out to lapsed Catholics. Unfortunately, I don’t really know of any lapsed Catholics to give the books to so I am thinking about giving them to my priest. 🙂

Where I work is mostly fallen away catholics. But, I would get in real trouble if I left those books on the break room table.😦

Totally awesome ministry! I encourage everyone who can to donate, even just a little bit.

God be praised!

A Super-Bowl ad would take a million plus. Sadly that won’t happen. The Catholic church just does not seem to have the outreach resources of other groups. Despite the fact its the largest by far.

The Christian Scientists - just about a million in the US - have a huge media campaign on BART. Bay Area Rapid transit. 4th largest media market US. Plus radio ministires for several years now on a number of Bay Area stations. Radio that is. Its just in the past 6 months that the Bay Area got a atholic radio station. Like there are or have been 5 or 6 Chritian stations here for years.

'The ad from CCH is great. They need a sugar daddy. 40 or 50 dollar donations from the “folks” ain’t gonna get them on AI - let alone the Super Bowl.

Like is something wrong with this picture?

I used to say that a real church doesn’t have tv commercials. Now apparently it does. I’ll have to think of something else.

That’s sad. 😦 Something needs to be done about all of the lapsed Catholics and quickly. So many people die every day and the lapsed Catholics need to be ready to meet their Lord. I have a feeling that if they stay lapsed, they’re not going to be ready to meet our Lord. 😦
