Catholics for Choice Group Holds Event at Planned Parenthood

Catholic League president Bill Donohue has noticed that the pro-abortion “Catholic” group Catholics for Choice has scheduled a workshop or April 28 at Planned Parenthood of Collier County, Florida.

Donohue says this is more evidence that the organization has much more to do with the abortion industry than representing Catholic teachings. He told LifeNews on Monday:

Catholics for Choice has twice been condemned by the bishops’ conference as a fraud–there is nothing Catholic about it. Indeed, it has never raised as much as a dime from practicing Catholics, relying almost exclusively on donations from the Ford Foundation and other establishment groups. Its agenda–to champion child abuse in the womb–is anything but Catholic. But it is fitting that Planned Parenthood, the captain of the abortion industry, is hosting this workshop.

The Diocese of Venice in Florida has it exactly right when it declares that this event is “an attempt to distort Catholic teaching to advance a particular agenda that is offensive to Catholics and like-minded people of good will.” The central message of Catholics for Choice–”you can be prochoice and Catholic”–carries as much credibility as saying you can be pro-genocide and Catholic.

To say, as they are advertising, that “abortion can be a moral choice,” is to say that the intentional killing of innocent human life can be morally justified. It cannot be, notwithstanding the positions of Catholics for Choice and Planned Parenthood, both of which have a track record that is as deceitful as it is bloody.

It comes down to Catholic teaching on conscience. Basically, every
individual has the right and responsibility to follow his or her own
conscience—and respect others’ right to do the same.

The Bible contains enough references regarding self-control, fornication, adultery and divorce that these people do not have a Biblical leg to stand on.

Jesus said, If you love me keep my commandments.

To put it another way: Yes, we, meaning Catholics, are all sinners. Even the Pope goes to confession. We are to be purified like gold in the fire. We are not to be slaves to our flesh. Yes, we are to forgive but we are also told to trurn away from our sin. Our faults are meant to be fixed. Jesus also said to the woman who was about to be legally stoned to death, Go and sin no more. She was not given permission to commit adultery again, she was given another chance to live holy and how God commanded. She was shown mercy.

It is an act of charity to show others the error of their ways. Not to condemn but so that they might see more clearly.
