Catholics for Choice praises Empire State Building owner for snub of Mother Teresa birthday lighting
Not every Catholic wants to pillory the owners of the Empire State Building for refusing to light the iconic spire for Mother Teresa’s 100th birthday.

A group called Catholics for Choice is praising owner Anthony Malkin for sticking to his long-held policy of refusing lighting requests from religious organizations - and standing up to Bill Donohue and the Catholic League. “We know it takes courage to do so, especially as he tends to accuse all those who oppose him of being anti-Catholic,” the group wrote in a letter to Malkin.

Calling Donohue “an attack dog for the radical right,” the group said the Catholic League leader doesn’t represent all Catholics, and accused him of manufacturing “a controversy out of nothing.”

At first I thought that they were foolish enough to be criticizing Mother Teresa. :o

Apparently, they just want to counter the Catholic League’s ownership of the issue of whether the Empire State Building should have changed their lighting on Mother Teresa’s 100th birthday.

Incidentally, the National Coalition of American Nuns also signed the letter of support sent to the building’s owner
Sister Jeannine Gramick, an executive coordinator of the board of the National Coalition of American Nuns, called this entire brouhaha “foolish.”
“I love my church and I don’t want my church to look foolish,” she said. “I just don’t believe Mother Teresa would want this type of publicity and sensationalism. She was a very humble person.”

I have to agree with this much of what Sr. Gramick said. Instead of making a public controversy out of the issue, it would have been wiser to approach the building owner in private.

Why aren’t these festering anti-Catholic public groups within the Church given fair warning and then told they are publically excommunicated?

It is an unfortunate burden that the Church cannot copyright the name “Catholic” and so prevent these and other frauds from using it to lead the unwary astray.

Members of Catholics For Choice have been told privately and publicly by their Bishops that they have been excommunicated. They are not Catholics. They are EXCOMMUNICATED Catholics and the secular newspapers know this and are just playing the Devil’s Advocate(literally) and creating confusion and mischief just as those Truth Haters are.It is up to you,me and the Church to make the distinction clear.

He was approached in private. The Catholic League followed all application protocol and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. The problem is not Blessed Mother Theresa but her acceptance speech when she won the Nobel Peace Prize-that was decidedly Pro-life.This is just another battle in the War between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death. It became an issue when Malkin personally refused. It wasn’t about Mother theresa at all but about pro-abortionists and pro-life,the rest is just subterfuge.

I can understand a group of excommunicated former Catholics being against anything having to do with the church but I can’t figure out how the National Coalition of American Nuns would be against her recognition.

Russia is building her a monument and nuns here don’t want lights turned on to celebrate her birthday???

“Catholics for Choice” They want to choose whether to be Holy or not.

The next life, the Eternal, is a continuation of this one.

Holy here-Holy there. Choose not to be Holy-Continue not to be Holy.

In your face-making news.

God Bless.

…Like I teach our kids:

You’re either part of the solution, or part of the problem.

Their words and actions don’t seem to be “building the Kingdom of God on earth.”

Such a Holy woman-Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
God must be very pleased with this Servant of God.

God Bless.

What ever you are here and do here you are in eternity.Do you smell something burning? If Catholics for Choice even believe in God I’ll eat my car.

Those “nuns” that a previous poster spoke of are pro-abortion,pro-homosexuality, pro so-called same-sex marriage, and pro female ordination…Those are the nuns and many other new-agey hippie nuns that contradict Catholic Teaching that are being actively investigated by the Vatican(they have sworn not to cooperate)and hopefully these disgraces to the faith will be excommunicated and have their charters or whatever pulled.
