I don’t know anyone associated with this group, but have met my fair share of “pro-choice Catholics”. So many people will say “Well, I’m against abortion except in the case of rape or incest”. To many people, this seems like the most compassionate response. **To them, the life of the child is an abstract, not something to be considered when dealing with something so traumatic. ** Or those that feel that the “quality of life” outweighs the decision to allow that life to continue. They think that it is better for the baby to die in utero, than to be allowed to suffer for any amount of time after birth. I’d bet they’ve never seen what an abortion entails. It is torture, pure and simple.
I was blessed this past couple of weeks to hear both a homily by our PV and a reflection by our seminarian dealing with abortion, pointing out from the moment of conception–there is a human life at stake…one that needs to be protected…and that we ALL have a duty to stand up for life.
