But a politician may or may not be able to do anything about abortion while he is in office. Should a theoretical position on abortion determine our vote when practical considerations involving other life issues will certainly be addressed?
But doesn’t the mere fact that the candidate is wrong on this issue demonstrate such poor judgment that it discredits him/her immediately?

If a candidate was in favor of bringing back slavery, but had no political means to do so, would you vote for him? I doubt it.
