Excerpt:
“The new version provides evidence that welfare policy has no more than a marginal effect on the incidence of abortion,” he argued. “In fact, the new regression results indicate that none of the three welfare policies which the authors previously argued were effective tools for reducing the incidence of abortion have a substantial abortion reducing effect.”
And the final thought:
“I think that they would be more effective if they would be more willing to publicly acknowledge the positive impact of pro-life legislation and try to constructively work with pro-life groups to promote social policies that will further reduce abortion rates. Instead Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good seems primarily interested in providing moral, political, and theological cover for supporters of Barack Obama and other Democrats who support ‘abortion rights.’”
Gee, ya think?

Here’s something to consider:

Create a ratio comparing per capita the number of abortions in the US vs. Canada.

Do the math

Why does this matter? Because Canada has more social spending and welfare programs than we do, yet they have nearly the same number of abortions per capita as we do. So to believe increased social spending is going to solve this problem is like the people who believed we needed to just pump prime third world nations with cash and they would automatically develop. The solution is not that simple.

That’s a great point and illustrates something interesting: In discussions over health care and social programs, you can set your watch to a progressive saying, “look at Sweden!” But this whole election the Left were selling us reduced abortions. Not a peep about Sweden whose per capita is higher.
