Catholics must disregard Scripture to satisfy their doctrine.

I can surely see that you don’t much care what is Biblical and what isn’t, after all, it isn’t the top authority in your church. If the pope declared Jesus a heretic, Catholics would burn their crucifixes.
This is an outrageous assertion and it’s where you lose credibility with everybody. The Pope would never declare Jesus a heretic as he is incapable of such blasphemous teaching by the very nature of his infallible charism as pope.

I find it interesting, SIA, that you keep trying to prove that Mary had multiple kids other than Jesus? Why is it so important to you that Mary NOT be a perpetual virgin? You are so intent on making her a typical woman with nothing special, devoid of the blessings she was given. Mary carried Christ incarnate and shares his physical blood. Think of Jesus’ blood and Mary’s blood flowing through each other’s veins. She was called by Christ and tradition, including greats like Augustine, have generally considered her to be a perpetual virgin. Why is that so awful? Why is it so threatening?

I find it diabolical when people attack Mary and try to bring her down to the status of typical woman on the streets. You need to pray the rosary, ask for Mary’s intercession, and really look at how important her role was in Christ’s life beyond just His birth. She was there at Cana, at His crucifixion, at His burial, at His resurrection, at Pentecost, and she bore Him as a baby. And only God knows the role she and Joseph played in His upbringing and what degree of Christ’s divine nature and His humanity were nurtured by these holy people…

I also find it fascinating that you just don’t get it with tradition and scripture. The Church has NEVER been so simple and one-dimensional as to use the New Testament as a proof text and a complete owner’s manual for Christianity. The Church pre-dated the Bible’s completion. I fail to understand why folks don’t understand that?

There were many churches that, in the first couple of centuries, did not even have all of Paul’s epistles, or all of the gospels! How were decisions made? How was theology taught and preserved without scripture?

Private interpretation, one owner’s manual that can be interpreted 33,000 ways, and a total lack of unity is in your corner, the 2,000 year old infallible Church is in ours.

Peace.

Newsflash: Catholics are not Biblical in many ways period! Scripture only or not it doesn’t matter.
Where in scripture does it say that ONLY scripture can be used to teach the things of God?

I would be horrified to have your outlook on Christianity. I can’t imagine the thought of having no LIVING authority but rather just a bunch of folks assembled in a building carrying Bibles and hoping they get it right from their own interpretations? It’s as if the Bible just fell out of the sky in the 1500s and Luther caught it while those evil pagan Catholics were off producing this evil spawn of a church. And, thanks to one man, after 1500 wasted years of these poor dumb Catholics acting like cannibals and worshipping Mary, the light broke through! Pretty hard to believe…

What is believable is what Jesus said, that the Holy Spirit would be with His Church always, it would lead it to all truth, that Peter would feed His sheep, and that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church.

That argument that “the rock” was not Peter but Peter’s confession, that’s just a bunch of hooey.

I can’t imagine the idea of Luther and Calvin (who had little in common!) and these Anglican guys like Cranmer would preach the truth and 1500 years of wisdom from men like Augustine, Ambrose, Cyprian, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Ignatius, Polycarp, Clement, all the popes, all the councils, all these wise, inspired, learned men…all full of bull and Luther is right? Horse feathers…

Chicken or the egg? What came first? Bible or Church? That’s a no-brainer.

How do you get from Do This In Memory of Me to only Roman Catholic priests can change bread and wine into flesh and blood? I didn’t see any of that in the Bible, but oh!! I forgot, you folks don’t need to jive with Scripture just as long as Holy Father rubber stamps it!!😊
Ahem, Scripture never put you in charge. But Jesus gives authority to the Catholic Church in the Scriptures.

So?? And the dogmas of Catholicism cannot be back up by Scripture either! Where do they then in fact come from?? That’s where it gets scary. By who’s authority are they believed then to be true???
Explain how. There’s no way your argument can be feasible if you only say the Church is not supported by scripture.

Or, has the Catholic church thrown out Scripture as one leg on its three legged stool? Maybe so if I gauge it by your standards.
The three-legged stool, as I’ve always understood it, is an Anglican approach, correct me if I’m wrong, that says: scripture, tradition, reason…

You seem to stress the first at the expense of the second? Popes, which you have dirided and have spurned, as well as great doctors like Augustine and Aquinas have given us much “reason.” I fail to see where Roman Catholicism has been lacking in any of the three. But the “three-legged stool” isn’t biblical in itself anyway?

Anyone who claims Catholicism to be false is Anti-Catholic and you do believe it to be false. I rest my case.
You know Manny, as Father Corapi says: Look at how well the Protestants do with just two sacraments.

I marvel at how far SIA has come in faith, while being hobbled by the limitations of scripture. Unfortunately, SIA speaks a different language than we do. Thus, understanding Catholicism is impossible without the intervention of the Holy Spirit.

How does SIA think so many of us became Catholic in the first place? Does SIA listen to the voice of converts? Has SIA ever visited the coming home network? Ever attended a mass? Is the story of Deacon Alex Jones and 50 of his church converting with him just an anecdote?

One day, one blessed and beautiful day, with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, SIA will have a revelation. And Heaven will open up as never before. It will be a blessing, and one for which I pray.

Our words can easily be blown off, but the Holy Spirit is irresistible. SIA, just ask any convert. It’s God’s church, not “ours”. That we may be one.

Christ’s peace.

The three-legged stool, as I’ve always understood it, is an Anglican approach, correct me if I’m wrong, that says: scripture, tradition, reason…
In the Catholic church, it is Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium (teaching authority of the church). The Magisterium particularly applies to correctly teaching scripture, but also to the proper handing on of Tradition.

Christ’s peace.

Newsflash: Catholics are not Biblical in many ways period! Scripture only or not it doesn’t matter.
So you’re going to rip out your table of contents? Where will that leave you?

Now you just sound loopy. You are saying that the church which assembled your bible from its earliest members’ writings, which preserved your bible at a cost in the martyr’s blood, and which relies upon the same writings that you have for the first half of each and every mass for the past 1,975 years, has somehow, somewhere, when you least expected it, thrown it all away?

This is quite a stretch, even for Jack Chick to allege.
Not to mention, since NONE of the manuscripts were written by any believer in sola scriptura, no Protestants, how do you know we copied it right? Maybe we added something, Maybe we took something out.

After all, if we can’t be trusted to interpret it, how can we be trusted to copy it?

Catholics Say:

The Eucharist ceases to be
bread when consecrated and
becomes the flesh of Christ.
A metaphysical change takes
place.

The Scriptues Say:

Jesus himself says, "The bread which comes from Heaven is my flesh.

Catholics Say:

Mary is co-mediatrix with Christ.

The Scriptures Say:

There is but one mediator between God and man being Christ Jesus.

Catholics Say:

Mary was born without sin and remained sinless her whole life.

The Scriptures Say:

Mary herself said, “I rejoice in God who is my savior”.

Catholics Say:

Mary was assumed into Heaven body and spirit.

The Scripture Says:

Nothing whatsoever to prove this happened.

Catholics Say:

Jesus was an only child.

The Scriptures Say:

Jesus had brothers and sisters both.

Still convinced that the Bible is a Catholic book??😊
Catholics possess the fullness of Truth and the deposit of faith from Jesus Christ. The whole bible from the old testament throught the new reveals everyone of your disbelief’s. The problem here is that, those who dont submit to the authority of Jesus in his body on earth that has been administering these gifts of God for 2000 years, only submit to the written proclamation word that the Catholic church authenticated as the Word of God. Without apostolic Sacred Tradtion that includes the Oral teachings of Jesus and the apostles with sacred scripture that reveals these truth’s, how do you expect to recieve the full deposit of faith that the Catholic church gives you, but you reject her revelations from God, because you want to hold to scripture only or faith only, that does not have any support from scripture that Jesus or the apostles ever taught this belief.

Now comes the important aspect of Christianity. Interpretation of sacred scripture. Does one accept a 20th century interpretation of scripture, or a 2000 year old interpretation of scripture that does not conflict with the apostolic Oral Traditions of Jesus and his apostles, not to mention that the old testament has to be revealed in the new testament, with new testament hidden in the old testament. If your interpretation of scripture fits this criteria, consider yourself a first century Catholic. If it does not, then you only have part of the full truth. For an interpretation of scripture to be God’s Truth. You have to have all of the above, Old testament, New testament, and Oral Tradition. Lacking any of these is lacking the full truth of Jesus Christ. The only living body that suffices this criteria for 2000 years is the one holy apostolic Catholic church which is the body of Jesus Christ.

You know SIA, I looked over your list, and the mysteries of the most Holy Rosary answers all of the above in both Old testament and New testament. But did Jesus leave you or your church in charge to bind and loose, or to interpret his word, by feeding his sheep, or tending his flock like he personally did Peter, our present day Pope?

Peace

I would like to add two more cents to your title post. Catholics dont disregard the bible that she put together to satisfy her doctrines. The bible fully supports her sacred Traditions from Jesus and the apostles. Again, why is it that Catholic’s see these doctrines in both testaments but you dont? is it because you dont or refuse the full deposit of faith given to us by Jesus Christ? Or is it because you decide to interpret the bible, that the Catholic church canonized for you as the inspired Word of God, according to your own interpretation?

I wish I could interpret scripture like you according to my likes and dislikes. If I could? I would still be eating my enemies flesh and blood as my anscestors did. But I must admit, I follow Jesus by his every Word. Both by the written and the Oral Traditions, in order to recieve the full deposit of faith from God.

Remember sacred scripture, sacred Tradition, Old testament, and New testament all have to fit into ones interpretation of scripture in order to recieve the fullness of Truth from God. I find this hard for you for one, you are missing 7 of the holy books of the bible that the Catholic church gave you. If your going to reject 7 books from the bible, how are you supposed to understand the list of belief’s you protest against that has been believed for 2000 years now?

Peace be with you

So?? And the dogmas of Catholicism cannot be back up by Scripture either! Where do they then in fact come from?? That’s where it gets scary. ** By who’s authority are they believed then to be true???:**eek:
By the SAME authority that compiled the Bible. Why do you even believe that authority since that authority exsits outside the pages of the New Testament? This is what is scary…You acknowledge this authority for this one specific act (officially compiling the Bible) and then insist on its immediate deconstruction.

If this authority truly existed, then Scriptures must be understood in light of this authority. After all, you agreed to do so when you first accepted the Bible as God’s Word, didn’t you?
