tweetymom: You rarely provide a cogent response when someone challenges you (see the above). Since you claim to teach RCIA, then you should be familiar with the first in the Spiritual Works of Mercy: to admonish those in error. That’s all anyone here is trying to do for you. Yet, all you seem capable of is to respond with short and smarmy drive-bys couched in the veil (and a thin one I might add) of Chritian Love.

We discuss and debate things on this forum - feelings should be left at the door. For your own good if you can’t handle this environment, please consider another.
I don’t claim to teach in RCIA I do! Sorry you feel that my Christian Love are just drivebys in a thin veil. They are not but since you are being judgemental ?
My feelings are at the door if not for Christ I could really tell you a few thing, but that would not be very Christlike.
The only one who needs to admonish someone Is God. I do not teach our students to be judges of anyone but them selves thru God.
And my friend I can handle any environment you or others can dish out eith Gods help.

Once again God Bless you and in Christ love Jeanette aka tweetymoml

Ok, then, let’s go one step back (although this is so off topic it’s not even funny) Lucifer made a choice because he had free will. God created the Angels, but gave them the same free will we have, and they chose to rebel. Are you trying to say that God created evil?
Please don’t say that. All Christians believe that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. God is completly Holy and wise and perfect. We know through the Scriptures that the elect Angels did not fall in the cosmic angelic rebellion, and the non-elect Angels fell with Satan. Did God create both groups of Angels? Could God have prevented Lucifier and the other fallen Angels from falling? Please consider the book of Job before you answer. God is completely sovereign. Free will does not triump the complete sovereignity of God. Did God kow Lucifier would fall prior to creating Lucifier?

Why things appear contradictory to you is simply the glasses your wear. You have hard core Catholic glasses on.
**Again - your curt answers are easy to read, but don’t make sense.

**I wasn’t arguing the Trinity - I was pointing out to you that God can’t be the author of evil - so everything that happens is NOT his will, regardles of which glasses you have on . . .

this may be so, but what about discernment and the Holy Spirit’s part in all of this?

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

We should rely more on what scripture says and Gods confirmation within our hearts as opposed to the words of men.
“The heart is deceitful above all things.” Jeremiah 17:9
You are fooling yourself if you think that you can’t deceive yourself.

God also left us leaders to guide us. “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.” Hebrews 13:17

❤️ Love is Patient

Is it a river that surrounds the Vatican or Rome?
Doesn’t “surround” anything…it runs north-south through most of central Italy. As it comes through Rome on it’s journey to the Tyrrhenian Sea, it comes within a mile or so of Vatican City. To get from Rome proper to the Vatican, one would have to cross the Tiber. Again, it’s just a figure of speech.

okay, I agree the heart can be deceptive. But I’d rather shift the focus onto person relationship with Christ and God’s love for His children. We are told in His word if we seek an answer He shall enlighten us. If it is God’s work, then you can be sure the Holy Spirit is moving you in that direction. If it isn’t however what God wants to lead you into, it would make sense that you wouldn’t have that leading.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

my next question to Catholics would remain… why some and not others who are believers?

SteveGC answered this question for his personal belief as to why so many non-catholics aren’t led to the Catholic Church, although he also states the re-unification will happen within the Church. My questions is why are we waiting on a physical reunion when we all have the same Heavenly Family members. Please let us become aware of the spiritual realm to a greater extent than the physical realm. We are to fix our eyes on what is unseen!

Thank you Steve for your courteous and honesty reply.

I have been to an RCIA [/SIGN]after I had first became a believer and accepted Jesus’ Lordship over my life. I felt I was learning things that were [SIGN]expounded upon apart from the Word itself[/SIGN]. Therefore I felt led to read the Bible and then if scripture permitted, take on the things of the Catholic tradition. Since that point I have never felt the urge or leading of the Spirit to pursue the things I once heard in RCIA. Nor do I feel I am missing any viable truths that God hasn’t yet revealed to me. If someone is sensitive to the Spirits leading and it was God’s will for them to be in the Catholic church. In my mind it wouldn’t be very hard for God to let it be known. I feel I am having faith that God will take me into all truth since His word clearly states the Holy Spirit guides us. Therefore why is it I am not having this desire?? like i said, there are only so many possibilities. My main focus is understanding the pivotal point of where Catholics and Protestants differ and then praying on the matter and seeing which ones aligns with scripture, and of course which one God confirms in my own heart. The truth is true believers will always seek the absolute truth that God has declared, and God has graciously provided with me the faith to believe that He will not misguide us nor let us be led astray. That is just not the God we serve. here is the formula: Scripture + prayer for wisdom, understanding, guidance, truth + love for God + love for others = Spirit leading them into the TRUTH that God so desires we all know and believe.

However I don’t believe a denomination is in anyway a determination of ones salvation by any means. I am not against Catholics, I prefer to look beyond the whole denomination idea as a whole and know that all of us as believer are true brothers and sisters in Christ. We are family, and if we don’t continue to fix our eyes on the unseen and get caught up in the physical realm we start to think that way as well. God bless

Now see that the first thing you need to do. Open a new thread and explain what you feel what was expounded. If not why are you on CA. Do you see what I mean? You are here to learn our faith, and we are here to show me what we have learned.

But in the same token which is the whole point here and of this thread is read the bible. We do. And because we do we can show you what the Church teaches, not what you think it does.

And if you would take that time and listen to the arguments, you can learn alot. ANd I think that if you let us defend our Church and our Church’s teachings I can Promise you the Church will come out on top.

Because the Church is led by the HS and the HS is never wrong. BUt I would like the opportunity to defend the church and RCIA. So what do you say!😃

I see what you mean, and I’m not totally opposed to the idea. I just almost feel it would be a waste of time due to this reason. The reason I came to this forum was to find the pivotal difference between Catholics and Protestants. I’ve concluded some things such as: Catholics read the bible through the lens of Holy Tradition. Holy Tradition is based on historical events that are recorded outside of the Holy Scripture. Therefore is it ever possible that I can know that this Holy Tradition is something God intended to become a part of my life and be involved with my relationship with Christ?

If it is possible that I can know this, I’m just curious as to why all spirit filled believers haven’t come to this conclusion. I’m trying to find if I can know it but unfortunately I haven’t found a way yet. Therefore I err on the side of caution and stay with what I do know, and what I have experienced with God in my life apart from the CC and all its teachings/traditions. I see your point about attending RCIA and bringing these concerns out… which I may do… but like I said I feel doubtful it will do anything but strengthen my belief as to why I can’t accept such things.

Thats why we need to start a new thread, so we can explain all of that to you. And this may be a very long thread we start, and take time, and studying on your part. but if you want the truth! COME AND GET IT:D

I do want to answer you, so so bad I do, but I won’t because Free Will is not the topic of this thread. If you would like to discuss free will and how it works within our lives and the lives of the angels, please start a new thread and let me know when you do. I’ll be more than happy to answer you.

2nd Adam, I did not see that you answered this question of mine:
2nd Adam:
It’s extremely essential, but not to divide over it.

Roman_Catholic:
If something can be “extremely essential” and not worth dividing over, why was there ever a Reformation in the first place? Why are you celebrating Reformation Day? Why are you not going to a Catholic Church?
God bless

I wasn’t arguing the Trinity - I was pointing out to you that God can’t be the author of evil - so everything that happens is NOT his will, *regardles *of which glasses you have on . . .
I think you are outside the view of official Catholic Theology. Doesn’t the Catholic Church believe that God is sovereign? Are you familar with the book of Job?

If it is possible that I can know this, I’m just curious as to why all spirit filled believers haven’t come to this conclusion. I’m trying to find if I can know it but unfortunately I haven’t found a way yet.
This is a very honest statement, one that should be explored.
Therefore I err on the side of caution and stay with what I do know, and what I have experienced with God in my life apart from the CC and all its teachings/traditions.
Why err at all … is not the point to earnestly and honestly seek the truth?
I see your point about attending RCIA and bringing these concerns out… which I may do… but like I said I feel doubtful it will do anything but strengthen my belief as to why I can’t accept such things.
Feelings sometimes leads us astray. Thomas also doubted … look at what happened to him. If something can strengthen you why would you not do it.

That’s a tough one because we have different leaders. My leaders get their authority from the King of Kings. 🙂

I only err meant in the way of not deciding to believe in something I am unsure of. The “seeking for truth” part doesn’t conflict with the adoption of beliefs that may not be God’s will, up unto the point of actual personal acceptance [of whatever teaching/tradition that may be] I am not worried. I just never felt led to accept what I have heard from the CC due to scriptural interpretations that didn’t clearly lead to “truth”.

It could strengthen perhaps… although I only say that because I am truly ignorant in some areas of the CC faith. I suppose I should not let my current doubts/wonderings hold me back from further educating myself with what it is you Catholics exactly believe in. After all, It can’t hurt me in anyway If I got into it with the mind set of never compromising scripture in light of tradition. (just curious but, that wouldn’t be a reason to disqualify me from RCIA would it?)

like I said, I guess the reason I haven’t pursued it diligently more than I have is because I’m so unconvinced anything will bring me to accept tradition over scripture… if that is in fact what i comes down to.
