Catholics: (POLL) Do you accept evolution?

There are still scientists today who are challenging those common scientific beliefs and are finding problems with them.
 
He created everything out of nothing

Does it matter in what order?
Why?
 
I believe that Evolution is less majestic than creating everything in 6 days.
 
I chose answer 4, but there really wasn’t a good option for me.

I believe in “Divine Evolution.” In order words, the Genesis account explains evolution from God’s point of view.

I do believe that we all came from 1 couple, who we call Adam & Eve.

And I believe that God created our souls.

I believe this to be true even if we one day learn that an alien race seeded the earth and created the first humans in a test tube… it would still be all God’s work.

That’s what I just said. Scientists are always challenging science. PLEASE learn something about how science works!!!
 
well, on other threads we’ve been debating whether or not it actually happened that way.
 
I would recommend reading “The Metaphysics of Evolution.”
 
I don’t have a strong opinion. I’ll be quite happy if either is true I guess.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it doesn’t seem like many people are qualified to answer that question scientifically, so I wonder whether it would even be worth my while to try to figure it out. Could it even be counterproductive, seeing that there are clearly people more intelligent about this sort of thing who disagree? How do I know it isn’t that people will end up believing in what they set out to believe, and that they can have good credentials and still be completely wrong?

But if it really is necessary to seek the answer to it, I’m open to anyone explaining why.

I have faith that some way or another, Scripture and the origin of life do not contradict, but I’m much more interested in the truths of revelation.

I’m not even holding two contradictory positions.

If Adam’s body was evolved from non-human creatures, but that which eventually gave rise to Adam was formed by God from dust, then Adam’s body was formed from dust. It took a while, but the starting point was dust.
 
It did happen that way.

It just happened according to God’s days, not ours.
 
Who’s to say that his days are different than ours in this circumstance? He doesn’t even have days.
 
Whatever the case, molecular biology is so beautiful and so clearly intentional, where efficiency increases beauty and beauty increases efficiency. I had a great time studying it for a while, but I didn’t continue after the basics. It’s so complex and interconnected we can never see the big picture, or see how it fits together, but only that it fits together, so it seems silly to me to allow an apparent contradiction to affect our religion.

Even with evolution, does the general scientific community have any idea at all how life got here in the first place? The impression I had was, no.
Because wouldn’t even the most basic possible single-cell organism still need to be able to at least do this?:

I think that God allowed humans to evolve without souls like animals, then created Adam when He saw fit. He then took Adam to Eden to get him away from the hostile prehistoric world.
