You know I think I really need to not post here any more. I don’t like what it is doing to me. I am really beginning to lose any respect I ever had for Catholics which is not right. Maybe I will see you guys later.

Just a thought… I think that if we all stepped back a bit, we could pursue our discussions and have a bit of fun in the process! Personally, I’m not trying to convert anyone - I just enjoy exercising my mind and learning more about other peoples thinking. Sure, we all “think” we have a monopoly on truth, but in my experience, we also all have a lot to learn about each other’s beliefs.

I don’t dismiss the RCC out-of-hand, and I would hope that my LDS point of view merits a bit of thoughtful study and courteous respect. These are two great religious traditions, and in many ways we have much in common. And in the end, we both have faith in Jesus Christ.

And, if there is anyone who does wish to “convert” someone, love and civility will go a lot further than bigotry and misinformation.

I concur — after review of some other posts on the forums today and being a loyal Mormon, who by the way attends Mass at least couple times a month — with the holidays upon all, regardless of faith journey or none at all (I have lots of friends as you may have as well), better days are my focus.

I recognize the doomsday opinions, etc (if you will or will not) are here to stay.

Make it a great day and questions about my faith — sorry unless in a way off the forums here will not be answered by me. Respect for everyone (including those who are farther pissed or lost in general because of my statement of not answering questions).

LDS belief says that all mankind may be saved by faith and obedience to Jesus Christ - even those who have never received baptism during this mortal life. I cannot imagine a God who would condemn someone who merely has not heard of Jesus Christ, can you?

I find your response a bit cryptic. Could you be more specific? Are you suggesting that RCC belief in salvation does not include the necessity of baptism?

You know snow, I have read you on many sites the last few weeks, it seems you have the same comments for everyone. Alot of this kind. It seems every one that disagrees with you, you either ignore or have something to say about them. Or if you do come back its either the above quote or something in the line of you seem to know it all. This is supposed to be a way of sharing and explaining our faith. I am sorry alot of our faith is totally the opposite of yours. I cannot explain why, for I do not understand myself. But maybe if you could be a litttle kinder you could learn more. God Bless.

Rinnie: Thank you for your response! I believe that your question, “I guess what I am asking who guides you in your faith” is the crux of your response. My reply is, I am guided in my faith by the Holy Spirit, as He reveals to me the truth of scripture and the words of God’s appointed prophets. I respect your concept of apostolic succession in the RCC, but believe that the succession was broken early in church history. It is the testimony of the Latter-day Saints that God has called prophets in our day to lead and direct the affairs of His kingdom.

Oh, Okay thank-you for the straight forward answer. See according to our faith there is no way succession could be broken. Let me explain why, When Jesus was speaking to his apostles he said that the RCC would prevail. Now if what you are saying has happened then the gates of hell would have prevailed. And since the RCC is still here and running strong I would have to say that Jesus words spoken 2000 years ago are still true today. If I could be so forward to ask another question what would have made you to think that the apostolic succession has been broken. Beings that the Pope’s can be traced from the day of Our dear Lord Jesus. Now see I will let you into my head for a moment, Jesus said What my Father has given me I know give you. Now how could that power have been passed away. Would that not make the words or Jesus a lie? See the only way I see it is 2 ways first Jesus did indeed not lie and the Holy Spirit has indeed been passed on as promised, or Jesus lied to us and you are correct. I have to stick with Jesus, and believe that as him being the only son of God, that he never lies, and never breaks his promises. Because without Jesus and his truth and his Church to lead us, As the Apostles have once said, Lord if not for you, where would we go. To me without Jesus and the Catholic Church I would be empty, have no one or nothing to believe in. See Jesus has never let me down, and never will. But thanks for listening.
