I have visited these sites. I think It is a good idea from the standpoint that you can see what some of the arguments are against being Catholic. Then you can on your time go out an research those arguments and find proof to say that Catholics are right. Kind of like exercising your faith to get stronger! 👍

I am in a discussion group at work where there are different faiths. It helps to make me stronger in my faith if I can answer some of these questions. (Without anger).

Maybe it would be good for some of the Protestant converts to put fourth some of the issues Protestants have with Catholics? More importantly how they answered those questions and what made them believe that Catholic beliefs were more right than their original beliefs?.? 👍

I’ve seen some pretty anti-Catholic rhetoric at the Military.com Coast Guard Politics Forum. Here’s a good sample:
You don’t know me, you’re judging me through your catholic glasses. Do you pray for the dead, to the dead, or to Mary?
BTW, all true believers are SAINTS in the God’s eyes once they truly repent and get saved.
I do know this, the North in the time of the civil war was run by mostly heathen catholics, and the south was full of protestants.

My good friend is an ex-catholic now a protestant and one of the smartest people i know. He said he use to have to kiss the priest ring, as he said he never met a born again catholic.
Mostly it is secularist vs. fundamentalist bashing with the fundies taking a swipe at Catholics every-so-often. I’m still in RCIA and don’t yet feel fully qualifed to pitch in:

Twice I thought I was going to a Catholic site, and it they were wolves in sheeps clothing.Needless to say, when I read the lies ,false accusations, I attempted to refute them. Both of them, would attempt mind games, such as evading certain scriptures, make up lies and stories about the Church. In one instant after a few encounters, the guy was not being charitable and resorted to serious name calling of Catholics unthinkable things.I stopped the debate,I told him I would no longer discuss this with him.His response was see you can’t defend your faith.I told him I would no longer subject myself to name call and accusations of devil worship. Why ask for a spike in blood pressure.God Bless

I have and do visit some evangelical Protestant and other sites. I have found that most non-Catholics or ex-Catholics on these sites are openly hostile to the Catholic faith. There are also quite a few steadfast and orthodox Catholics who are willing to engage in the threads. Even if these do not succeed in drawing others into the Catholic faith, they do manage to provoke thought about Catholic life and teaching.

There are also quite a few unorthodox persons calling themselves Catholics on these sites that muddy the waters.

I believe if anyone is serious about what they believe, they will also be willing to get their shoes dirty in order to share what they believe with others.

The thing is, I have limited time and I can’t spend it in a place that makes me angry. I work, take care of the house, take care of my children and I check out the forums at CA. Not time for the enemy here.

I’ve never posted on such message boards, but I have looked at Jack Chick’s site and other similar sites in the past. I don’t much anymore because it’s just frustrating. you can’t argue with these people because most of them are so hostile to rationality in general that you will be wasting your time.
