Different than YOUR opinion about the Gospels.

We, however, are uninterested (aside from these debates) about your opinions, just interested in the Gospels themselves.
In the first place, Catholics don’t offer opinions about the meaning of Sacred Scripture. We cite the exegesis of literally thousands of Catholic theologians who came to their interpretations under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 16:12-13). The teaching of the Catholic Church begins almost 2000 years ago and includes the promise of our Lord that He will be with us until the ending of the world (Mt. 28:20). In the face of those truths, the proposition that Jesus came to form His Church, selected those who were to teach in his name, sent them into the world with the power of the Holy Spirit, yet waited until the19th Century to reveal the truth to some dude named Smith is ludicrous.

The similarly ludicrous proposition that God, the Father of Our Lord, has a human body makes Chritsian theology an absurdity. Can any Mormon tell me how this god with a human body survived before the creation? Bear in mind, before the creation there was nothing! Did this god of yours live in an oxygen tent? How did he get around? Car? Motorcycle? Wings?

To quote you, we have no interest in your opinions, which wouldn’t make sense to a 4 year old if you didn’t beat it into his brain and and have him completely brainwashed by age 10.

[cue programmed four year old response on Fast Sundays]

“I’d like to bear my testimony, I know this Church is true, I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet, I love my mommy and daddy, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”

Favorite Part.

“yet waited until the19th Century to reveal the truth to some dude named Smith is ludicrous.”

I guess Catholics no longer believe in the resurrection of Jesus, huh?

He has a body, so I guess he could not survive without oxygen.

And of course Mary who was assumed bodily into heaven could not either.

This is the most childish argument I have ever heard in my life.

Mary on a motorcycle – now there is a picture for you.

Most of the members of my ward are ex-Catholics. You don’t even know enough about Mormons to have an intelligent conversation. As I said elsewhere, I will talk to you after catholics stop sacrificing babies in the basements of convents.

That is the level of your criticisms of Mormonism – just ludicrous. Watch out for the little green men. They don’t need oxygen masks either.

What a way to end my own thread! Unbelievable.

I guess you didn’t read my message very carefully. I spoke of God…the god with a human body; the one outside of time when there was NOTHING! I asked you how that god survived. You switched the conversation to Jesus and Mary. Must be you have no answer to my question.

In the first place, Catholics don’t offer opinions about the meaning of Sacred Scripture.
Okay - you claim that Catholics don’t have or offer any opinions about the meaning of scriptures.

That is probably the most bizarre claim I have heard in a long time but and can be demonstrated to be completely false just by reading practically any post about the scriptures here on this board where hundreds of Catholics offer hundreds of opinions re. the Bible everyday.
We cite the exegesis of literally thousands of Catholic theologians who came to their interpretations under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 16:12-13).
If your first claim above is to be believed, either these 1000’s of Catholic theologians aren’t really Catholic or don’t have/offer opinions.

BTW… that their interpretations are under the guidance of the Holy Spirit is merely an opinion.

Let me see if I understand you argument… The Catholic Church is God’s approved Church because you say so and because you think that some dude named Smith is ludicrous?

Is that correct?
The similarly ludicrous proposition that God, the Father of Our Lord, has a human body makes Chritsian theology an absurdity.
And your argument here is that you think that God can’t be embodied because it is ludicrous and absurd?

Yeh know, ludicrous AND absurd is a much more powerful argument than just ludicrous.
Can any Mormon tell me how this god with a human body survived before the creation? Bear in mind, before the creation there was nothing! Did this god of yours live in an oxygen tent? How did he get around? Car? Motorcycle? Wings?
Again, let me see if I get your argument. An all-powerful God who is embodied could not survive pre-creation because He didn’t have an oxygen tank and motorcycle, but an all-powerful God who was not embodied could survive.

Is that it?
To quote you, we have no interest in your opinions, which wouldn’t make sense to a 4 year old if you didn’t beat it into his brain and and have him completely brainwashed by age 10.
Ah - the ole brainwashed insult. That’s a good one. Do you think I am brainwashed and can you prove it?

Perhaps if you call me ludicrous and absurd and silly that would be proof.

You’re confusing opinion with Catholic doctrine. It’s you who have opinions about Scripture.

I guess you didn’t read my message very carefully. I spoke of God…the god with a human body; the one outside of time when there was NOTHING! I asked you how that god survived. You switched the conversation to Jesus and Mary. Must be you have no answer to my question.
This is absurdly stupid. You mean Jesus and Mary can survive now, because there is oxygen in the universe now?

God “survived” before he organized earth just as he “survives” and Jesus and Mary survive now. Without the need to breathe.

Man you are something else. I have never in my life seen such a stupid argument.

Oh, of course you have! Just read your own posts and those of your fellow fantacy-monger, Snow.
In all fairness, bukowski at least works at understanding Catholic doctrine and he posts intelligent arguments (usually). Lately though he seems to have come unhinged. Maybe its his age. 😃

Snow seems to have an effect on other Mormons, one of, brain shutting down.

(bukowski, you aren’t all that much older than myself…I have siblings who are old like you.)

You’re confusing opinion with Catholic doctrine. It’s you who have opinions about Scripture.
I can only guess your mean that I, Snow, have opinions about the scriptures, but you, Ferde do not.

It is simply a bizarre claim. How is it that you are, presumably, a literate adult and yet have formed no opinion of the scripures - neither good nor bad?

Weird.

[quoteIf your first claim above is to be believed, either these 1000’s of Catholic theologians aren’t really Catholic or don’t have/offer opinions.

[COLOR=“blue”]Your remark here is unintelligible. Makes no sense. The Catholic Church has a history. It begins long before the 19th Century. I suggest you read some of it.

It ain’t rocket science. You said Catholics don’t have opinions about scripture and then you talk about Catholic theologian - who, according to you, also don’t have opinions about the scriptures.

Were they raised in a bubble? How did they become theologians if they never saw scriptures and formed opinions about them?
Not really. “When he comes, however, being the spirit of truth, he will lead you to all truth.” Jn. 16:13. And know I am with you until the ending of the world." Mt. 28:20. See if you can put those two verses together and figure out what they mean.
Can you prove that God agrees with a single thing opined by these theologians?

I betcha $175 that you cannot.
No, that is not correct. The Catholic Church is the one Church Jesus came to build pursuant to Sacred Scripture and the history of the Church, which was born on the day of Pentecost, not in the 19th Century.
Maybe you don’t have opinions about scripture but you sure have them about the Catholic Church. Thank you for your opinion.
Not quite. God isn’t embodied because it is ludicrous, absurd and contrary to Scripture.
I bet you can’t prove that from the scriptures - especially since you have no opinion about the scriptures. I bet you are going to post the one about God being spirit. That doesn’t prove that God isn’t also embodied. Christ is God and thus spirit, but he has a body.

… but good luck trying.
“Survive” is not the right word. God is spirit and has no beginning. A difficult concept for you, I know. Like most of the Gospel message.
Let me assure you - if someone like you, with no opinion about the scriptures can fathom the concept, so can I, with one eye tied behind my back.

Just to be clear - I believe that an all-powerful god can survive anything, including the big bang.
You beg the question there. Your assumption, for which, based on your discourse, there is no obvious proof, assumes you have a brain.
Oh happy day - an insult. You clever.

Never? Come on… maybe it’s just been a while.

It’s not an opinion. He is saying the Truth.

Jesus CREATED the Church, long before Mormonism my ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED YEARS.

And most other Christian Denominations, like Protestant, for at least more than ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED YEARS.

With love and grace,

Ah yes that other great one

It’s true because it’s old!

I get it now. OK well thanks for setting me straight.

I didn’t realize Joseph Smith lived in the 18 hundreds, so I guess you have disproved all of Mormonism now. Gosh what church should I join?

Well, you don’t get it. It’s not true becaue it’s old, it’s old because it’s true. For some inexplicable reason you seem to think Jesus came to earth to form one Church and waited for 1800years to pass before calling it into existence in the person of an adulterer and a charletan. You should not join any church. You should stay right where you are since that is where you are content.

You offer no proof whatsoever that the Mormon sect is founded on anything but lies. You offer no proof whatsoever that the Catholic Church is not the one Church Jesus came to build.

How stupid is that?
