If you run the risk of arrest for drug possession, make sure you “don’t keep all of your stash on you.”
Don’t want to get caught having sex in your car? “Make sure you have tinted windows.” And if you run the risk of being charged with prostitution, at least be sure to wear “sensible shoes.”
Advice such as this has made a District-based nonprofit the target of outrage from a coalition of 24 Catholic organizations.
In an unusual press release, the coalition, called Reform CCHD Now, on Thursday asked Empower D.C. to return a $50,000 grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) for engaging “in the promotion of abortion, prostitution and homosexuality contrary to grant requirements.”
Specifically, the coalition says the Empower D.C. blog, called Grassroots D.C., provided a link to a pamphlet titled “Hey Grrl!” The pamphlet, which emphasizes young women’s rights when they come into contact with police, was not created by Empower D.C. and can no longer be found on its website.

What amazes me is that this group, Empower DC, refuses to admit guilt and the CCHD has apparently come to the conclusion that they haven’t done anything wrong.

aaahhhh! The timing is perfect - doesn’t the CCHD collection take place in a couple of weeks? I don’t think we’re having it in this diocese or else, like last year, we will be encouraged to donate to local charities. I don’t think they’ve re-couped from their last scandal yet and here we are again…it’s better than prime-time tv.

It sure does … and the latest Reform CCHD Now report has profiles of 38% of last year’s grantees … each of which is promoting abortion, birth control, homosexuality, and Marxism either directly or through coalitions. I highly recommend everyone look at the report before giving: www.reformcchdnow.com.

CCHD is a scam. Shut it down.
How can we as laity instigate it? I mean despite all the reports and facts and documentation it is just business as usual for them. To me, it is the highest order of scandal and somehow the bishops must be reached so they can put their own house in order.

If it was up to me, I’d prosecute CCHD for fraud, for masquerading as a Catholic organization. I wonder if ordinary laypeople can contact the prosecutors…

The laity can do something by rufusing to give. Even if all of the grantees are in line with the teachings of the church, why not give to local catholic organizations like St Vincent de Paul, or the local pregnancy crisis center, soup kitchen, homeless shelter, catholic school, etc. Very few of the grantees are even Christian in nature let alone catholic.

Stop giving to the CCHD!
