Catholics, what do you do with 1 John 5? It contradicts RCC doctrine concerning the assurance of salvation. See for yourself.

Nancy, Guanophore is probably one o fthe most patient posters in this thread. If he gave johnpaul87 the “bums rush”, johnpaul87 deserved it. He lies. It totally puzzles me why he cannot even tell the truth over something as simple as his denomination. This is how the devil works. In lies.

We are still called to instruct in love, but not capitalizing Jesus and God is disrespectful no matter how much one knows God personally.

In the Catholic tradition, those who know God best are more humble. Let us partake of this tradition and answer in all humility and perhaps we too will know Him as well as some say they do.

I almost hate to post to this thread since it will just prolong it’s life, but let’s look at this objectively. These threads get going frequently enough (and by that I mean, a main poster that is in opposition to the others- coaxing and prodding and agitating the mix) and then everyone gets upset trying to justify the Catholic position. What we need to step back and realize is that said poster does not want to be Catholic- he/she is here to cause agitation- to make everyone stew, and not participate in a mature, respectful engaging conversation. Please dont fall for it- the arumentative spirit has the opportunity to be sinful. This is the aim of the poster, who obviously doesn’t intend to ever see things the way that the Church does. This gives said poster great joy to disrupt your faith. He/She feels that she is winning by consistently getting to have the last word. It is a fruitless venture.

let us think of the wheat and the chaff

We here know the truth, and need to lay this aside for more fruitful discussions. Please know that I post this in love and mean no disrespect to anyone whatsoever.

You have a good point. The OP, mmmcounts, has apparantly abandoned the thread, so it appears he/she really didn’t care to discuss the issue, but IS enjoying participating in others.

Or it could be that he has abandoned the thread because he has run out of rebuttals.

After all is said and done, OSAS, SF, and SS are all indefensible so after awhile there is not much argument that can can mustered for it.

You are right I personally should know better to get caught up in this! I some times feel to keep going like a parent who sees a kid running around rudely without decipline but it is not place to correct them. Thanks for the post I needed it! God bless!

Thank you Melissa. MY POINT EXACTLY! Let them with ears hear and them with eyes see. Let us not be the blind leading the blind by continuing to participate in pointless, fruitless agitation. What is happening here is not debate nor an attempt to learn but only agitation designed to be an effort to disrupt individual peace and good Catholic, Christian behaviour.
 
61 pages into a thread, lots of smiley faces, some smile guy chopping off his head, a few harsh words, many digressions and where have we arrived-- back at the beginning. The Pope and Magisterium provide infallible teachings (both oral and written) and they are the trustees of the deposit of faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These teachings are free form error (infallible). The Holy Spirit protects the Church and prevents her from teaching error.

Individual members of her Church are not necessarily impeccable (free from sin). Some do sin grievous sins. They should not sin, but they do. They should be good examples of conduct instead of scandalous examples of conduct.

Remember that in Matthew 7 and 25, those people sure believed in Christ but were cast into Hell…why? Wasn’t faith enough saving them?

Someone pointed out in another thread that Satan knows there is a God. Believe means to think or suppose or trust that something is true.
