Catholics, what do you do with 1 John 5? It contradicts RCC doctrine concerning the assurance of salvation. See for yourself.

Every “gotcha” Scripture passage has been refuted throughout the centuries. The Catholic Church codified the Bible so trying to use it against her is a fool’s folly. The inherent contradictions of trying to disprove the Church with the book she created result in a ‘pick and choose’ strategy ignoring the logical and clearly evident conclusions.

As our current pope pointed out, non-Catholic Christians are not in full communion with the Church Christ founded and leads. The Fundamentalist fire burns deeply so this barrier must be extremely frustrating. Rather than walk around their self-imposed wall and enter the Chruch, the ‘foaming’ Fundamentalist bangs his fist against it.

I’ll pray for you mmm, but if it’s Christ you seek you’ll have to enter His Church at some point. The free will He gave you makes it your decision as to when. One advantage of joining the Church is being able to remain an ardent student of the Bible without the hypocrisy and contradictions.

is that really what you got out of that? Or is that what you wanted to get out of that? I say this not to belittle you, but I have spoken to many of many beliefs on many forums of various faiths including those who believe they are “Born Again” and you certainly have a “unique” faith system all your own. So unless everyone else is wrong and you are the only person “reborn”, You are keeping yourself from the truth and living in distortion with blinders on at the very least if that is the way you accept your faith. Your desire is rich but your beliefs are clouded. Why not put away the sarcasm and discuss the issues with the thought of sharing both in what you believe and open to consideration what is presented to you. You approach faith as one who knows it all and as such you will never learn anything. And I can tell you your beliefs and your attitude do not come from the teachings of the word of God. Think about it.

Well my young sister, the old routine is certainly old, historically as a matter of fact, considering it goes back 2000 years and is the teachings of Jesus. But we are not and never have been allowed to change the word or teachings of God as some have done, so what you get is what Jesus taught through His Apostles. Old routine? I certainly hope so…

Why would that seem strange to you? Jesus founded His Church. It is through that Church that He intended to manifest HImself the world. This is no the sole manner He uses to reveal (better word than “dispense”) Himself to the world, but this is the one to whom He has given His infallible protection.

JP wants everyone to argue with him/her- that is obvious. I doubt that many of the things he/she posts are even part of his/her true beliefs- they are posted to get a rise out of people. Very immature. A bit superficial of me to point this out, but the incessant typos are very hard to read too. Not very much intelligent conversation going on with the JP/everyone else interchanges. At least mmm has some documentation to his claims! Please JP, you are muddying intellectual conversation and trying to pick fights and being very immature.

WHO DETERMINES WHAT THESE CANNONICAL BOOKS ARE AND BY WHAT RIGHT CAN THEY CLAIM THAT THESE BOOKS ARE FREE FROM ERROR?

Go into your Profile (5th option on the menu above) and edit your signature.

You are a relatively new member so I am not sure if it is an option available to you but you can check that out.

At the bottom half of the Edit Signature page is and Edit Signature Picture option.
