And we are His Body.
Exactly! A body made up of many different parts!

1 Corinthians12:12 For as the body is one and hath many members; and all the members of the body, whereas they are many, yet are one body: So also is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free: and in one Spirit we have all been made to drink. 14 For the body also is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot should say: Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body: Is it therefore not of the Body? 16 And if the ear should say: Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body: Is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were the eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God hath set the members, every one of them, in the body as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they all were one member, where would be the body? 20 But now there are many members indeed, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand: I need not thy help. Nor again the head to the feet: I have no need of you. 22 Yea, much, more those that seem to be the more feeble members of the body are more necessary. 23 And such as we think to be the less honourable members of the body, about these we put more abundant honour: and those that are our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24 But our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, giving to that which wanted the more abundant honour. 25 That there might be no schism in the body: but the members might be mutually careful one for another. 26 And if one member suffer any thing, all the members suffer with it: or if one member glory, all the members rejoice with it.

Even separated Christians are part of the Body of Christ! How could anyone feel that a brother or sister in Christ is a “cancer” ?

I happened to see if I could find any info online that would help to address the Apostolic Succession issue. A quick search led me to this site:

axioscm.org/general/gen02.php?pageId=208

I know for a fact that my pastor was ordained (and later, consecrated) by Wayne Boosahda, whose name is mentioned in this list. There may have been other bishops involved as well–I wasn’t there, so I don’t really know. As the site indicates, this is a partial listing of the various strands of “geneologies” (for lack of a better word on my part) to be found within the Communion of Convergence Churches. The site specifically mentions the succession through the Patriarch of Antioch (Antiochene Orthodox), the line through which Wayne Boosahda was consecrated.
I think **realcatholik **answered this in post 203.

Also, I did a very quick search of the Latin Patriarchate of Antioch and there is a note that the patriarchate was abolished in 1964.

The Antiochan Patriarchate is essentially Greek orthodox and western branches that do not form part of the Greek Orthodoxy is not considered valid by the Greek Orthodox Church.

So I don’t know what the situation is with the priest you mentioned but as far as I can tell it is not valid. But I do need to do a bit more research on this.

I cannot acept the claim on the link you provided as I think it needs to be veriffied still.

Oh please go back and read the bible. You are so misled, I do not know by who or whom but that is not true. Peter started the RCC in Rome. Peter did believe in prayers for the dead. The bible is full of it. I have showed you many of times. Why do you refuse to answer. why do you keep ignoring 1 tim 2:1-4 why do you not answer the OT teachings of what I have told you? About the Statues. Why do you ignore Jas 5:16. If you go to the CHurch of Peter today there are statues everywhere, its still in Rome. No offense but are you from this planet (sorry but what I mean have you every even heard of the Church Peter started?
No amount of light will do for someone who persists in being blind.

You can present as much argument as you like but he will not read it, think about it, consider it.

A Body that “reformers” dismembered. I saw a post claiming that the reformation did not chop Christ’s Body to pieces. What else would you call it. We are no longer one. Our oneness is illusory. Just take a look at the thousands of protestant denominations. Do you really consider yourself one protestant Church?

Why is it that it seems every Tom, **** and Harry of a pastor feels the need to start his own church when he cannot agree with the current church he is in?

The many parts but One Body is already evident in the Catholic Church. The variety of charisms you will find in the different religious orders are a proof of this. Not to mention the many and varied ways that the laity serve the Church.

I see that now, when the comment was made about Christmas I saw that clear as Daylight. I did my best to show scripture to back up my faith, but when I was ignnored and never answered I should have seen it comming sooner. But I did my best to stand up for my faith, and now it is up to God to do the rest. But you are right, they will fight with us, sometimes I really want to give up. But you know what, The more they say bad thing’s about our faith and lie about it, the more I actually learn. And I have said this time after time but the more lies they tell, the more truth we can reveal through them. Sometimes I just have to learn to keep being kind, and give them Mercy I want from God, But when you see them butcher our faith and lie about it, It becomes so hard sometimes. But pray for me that I can become kinder in my responses. Thank-you though this really helped me. Have a great holiday season, and wonderful Christmas and New Year,

As much as I agree with what you are saying, and thank-you for your kind words, sometimes I do feel that way. Even though we are brothers and sisters in Christ they do in some way have a cancer. And it spreads to others, I am so afraid if I do not stick up for our faith that our kids will not learn the truth. I mean if we don’t stick up for our Church and let the lies continue what then. And I don’t care who gets mad at me, Peter did start the RCC. Its like we have to be a lawyer today. They do thing’s like that to distort the truth. Jesus died came back, and did tell Peter again, Peter feed my sheep, and Jesus did ask Peter to start the Church in Rome. He did. Yes it is God’s Church but Peter did start it. Why can’t we at least tell it like it is and was. Those are the thing’s they I can’t understand. Comments like Jesus started the Church yes he did, but Peter did build the Church and started the first Church. Or when you say the Church translated scripture and wrote the bible. Then it goes to God did, Petty stuff like that. Then the point makes us look wrong. Of course God worked through the Holy Spirit but the Church still was left to do the work. God chose them. Things like that, I just can’t walk away and let them say we lie, why would we. If I really thought that the RCC was wrong, and trust me I study daily now, and have never seen our faith proved wrong yet, I would be a protestant. But the proof is in the Catholic Church. Believe me I study hard, and look everything up. And the Church has not failed once yet. Never. But thank-you for your kind words and listening.

I will send you the Spirit of truth that will lead you onto all truth.
Peter and Paul belonged to a non denominational church which had no statues or icons in them. Peter and Paul did not pray to the dead.
Comments like this, How could anyone say something like this, what kind of truth are they going to lead me to. What do I teach my Children, that we are all one body of Christ and its okay. And do I say get rid of the Statues in the house kids and quit praying for Pap, Uncle Joe and others. They need our prayers. We need theirs. How would you have answered this? I know I should have done better, but what would have been the right answer. And check out what he said about Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I thought you response was beautiful but isn’t this a site to show where these are not true statements. Sorry this was for John1

rinnie this is so wroooooooooooooooooooooooooong:rolleyes:

I answered everone of your questions and you never ever addressed any of my points. Please dont bear false witness.
  1. I gave you scripture and placed it along side of the Catholic Catechism and asked you if you could see that they say different things ----you never answered.
  2. I gave you quotes from Jerome and Tertullian and others and you never answered that.
  3. You asked about the cheribum and the serpent and I addressed that, you never responded to my objections.
  4. I asked you what this was and you never responded.

Its a scary thing to admit that all you have been taught is false. I have been there. Is it better to seek truth or follow after falsehood?

We are one in Christ when folks revert into there “religous institution” we fall to pieces.

rinnie I dont know if your young you sound like maybe you are.
If you are maybe this is not a good place to be because feelings can get hurt rather quickly. If your not about seeking and responding to the truth and are willing to follow it wherever it takes you perhaps you should stop now.
I have said nothing wrong do your own research.

You seem to consider yourself an authority on Christianity. We have told you what the Church teaches and what is our belief and all you can do is scorn. So you have your own belief. We don’t interfere with that.

Your lack of respect for the Catholic Church and Catholics is so evident one wonders why you bother to come on:confused: :whacky: these forums.

I don’t want to waste my time with you!

Isn’t the Jewish “church” older than the Catholic church? If so, who is it then that holds more authority?
The answer is in what Jesus said with regards to the Father.

in progression of thought (emphasis mine)

Mt 10:32, 33,
"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven."But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

Mt 11:26…
" All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Mt 16:
13When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15"But what about you?" he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19** I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven**;** whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven**.”

The Catholic Church IS the Church of Christ. The only one He started on Peter. It is guranteed not to fail. And it’s roots are as Jewish as one can get .

Hi Rinnnie,

I know that there are a lot of hateful words being spewed out by a lot of “Christians” on both sides (Roman Catholic and Protestant). I am a memeber of the Roman Catholic Church and have been for years. Before joining the Roman Catholic church, I had went to several different Protestant Chruches. There are always people on both sides that criticize the other. You will find volumes and volumes of books with testimonials of people who “converted” from the Roman Catholic Church or “converted” from a Protestant Church. Even when you read history books you see a bias, depending on who wrote the history. I became a Christian when I was mush younger, and I have never converted. I don’t pretend to know the answer on how to bring Christians back together, But I do know that it will be done through love and not hate. I can’t see into another person’s heart, but a person’s words can give you an idea whats in their heart. Christians will be known by the love they have for one another. Sometimes people in discussion forums like this type things that they shouldn’t, demeaning words filled with hate against Christian brothers and sisters, mostly in an attempt to “win” their argument no matter who they hurt. Sometimes you see people that use the “I’m defending the true faith” stance, even though their actions in doing so are contrary to Christ’s teaching, and thus the true faith. It’s easy for anyone, including myself, to get caught up in the moment and to counter one insult with another, even though I know it’s not right. Yes we are to correct each other (Christians), but in a kind and gentle way. Yes we are supposed to judge people inside the Church like it or not, and let God judge those outside the Church. All this may seem like it’s getting way off the original thread, but I wonder if some of the same emotions and motives are involved today as they were back in early Christianity, the 1000’s, and the 1500’s.

rinnie I dont know if your young you sound like maybe you are.

I have said nothing wrong do your own research.
No I am not young but thank you, But its your comments that don’t hurt my feeling’s its lies that hurt my Church.

But Now I am quite calmer and will begin again.

In post 328 you claim that Jesus is not a statue, Where did I ever say Jesus was a statue. I said in the OT God did not reveal himself yet, but in the NT he did. A statue of Jesus is not a False God, You ignored that. When you look at a picture of Jesus you associate that will being God. Because Jesus is. Where is a picture of Jesus considered Idol worship is Jesus not God, and did he not reveal himself to all. I gave you all the scripture where indeed it shows he did,

Second I showed you scripture in Jas 5:16 to prove that we can prove the righteous man has great power. which proved purgatory because you cannot get into heaven without being cleansed, since nothing unrighteous will touch heaven, and it James it tells us it has great powers in its effects.

In Post 333 you claim okay God did give Moses just this once permission to make a statue. You again ignored ex. the gold angels, and exekiel graven carved images.

Now one minute you say its forbidden a sin, then well okay Moses was okay. No it does not work that way.

You said in the OT its not okay, not for anyone, then how can it be okay for Moses.

So the Catholics are right up there with Moses now. He’s either getting to or he isn’t. Because according to you the OT said no, there is no excuse.

No offense please Im not trying to be mean, but you make no sense, You tell me I have no truth, to follow your truth but you can’t show me this truth.

In rev 8:3-4 Its plain as day the angel with a golden censer and he was given much incense to mingle with the PRAYER OF ALL THE SAINTS …and the smoke of the incense rose with the Prayers of the Saints from the hand of the angel before God. You never answer these. you said the saints are dead and so is their prayers. then explain this scripture.

Psalm 103 we pray Bless the Lord o you his angels you mighty ones who do his word hearkening to the voice of his word, bless the lord of all host HIS MINISTERS WHO DO HIS WILL.

Now you say Peter and Paul did not start the Catholic Church. It was a ND Church.

John 13:36 21:18 Jesus predicts Peters death. Peter was martyred at Rome in 67 A.D. Several hundred years of papal successors were also martyred. (Where is this non dem. Church in Rome Peter started? Why if Papal successors were martyred can the Pope today prove succession and be in a RCC. Why can these lies my Church feeds me be traced back to Peter? And not your Church? Now show me where your church was traced back to Peter?

Now I asked you once and I was ignored I will ask again, who is your teacher. Jesus felt that we needed them, that we must see them, and talk to them and learn from them, or he would have just left us all with the Power of the Holy Spirit. But he did not do that. He left us the Apostles who can be traced back to the CC. Now who are your teachers, where is their authority to teach the truth? Our Priests, and Bishops and Pope have the power given to them before Jesus died to pass on to eachother. Where did you or your teachers get theirs?

Hisalone
Since you are so caught up in the OT lets go there.

As you say praying for the dead foks.

Plain as the nose on your face.2 maccabees 13;43-45 SHOWS The jews prayed for their dead. it was not only a jweish custom but carried over into (bingo you got it) the NT. and the early Church.

How about Pauls reference to Onesiphorus in 2 tim 1:16 example of prayer for the dead since Onesiphours is refered to in the past tense. and because a the end of the book greetings are given to THE FAMILY of onesiphours.

How about NT l corinthians 15 Paul mentions in verse 29 the resurrection must be true otherwise why would they baptise the dead. we dont practice it anymore (except mormons) but after the custom of the eary church we do celebrate masses for the dead and the fact that NT christians baptised for the dead and paul did not dsapprove shows that prayer for the dead were part of the early christian beliefs which were learned from the jews.

It is true that this is a Catholic web site however this form is a nonCatholic forum. I wonder why people come here to discuss Catholism when there are other forums to do that on. I am not an authority on Cristianity I am one who seeks what is true. I found the Roman Church to be lacking that is why I ourneyed elsewhere. I have respect for Catholics, virtualy my whole family is Catholic. I do not respectRoman Catholicism. I believe it has falsely taught.
