The question is posted and explain why you are not Protestant.

I am not Protestant because of Sola Scriptura, and Sola Fidelis and because of the different doctrines each Protestant Churches have…and their doctrine is not even Biblical
Real Presence

I’m a revert. When I was attending the protestant churches (that’s churches because I never could find one that made sense to me), I always felt unsettled. Coming back to the Catholic church is definitely like coming home - so much comfort. And, Father Mike can give you a hug that feels like God himself is hugging you.

I want to go to a church where I can receive Jesus in the Eucharist. If I wanted grape juice and bread, I’d get it from the corner grocery store. Besides, grape juice gives me heartburn.

God Bless,
Michael

I am not a Protestant because Protestants in my own personal past and in my present disregard Sacred Tradition - they see it as irrelevant. Sola Scriptura.

The CC is the only Church I have found that has preserved that unwritten knowledge (Tradition) passed on from Christ to the Apostles and then to their successors, and so on and so forth. With that Tradition, guidance from the Holy Spirit, and with the Bible, the CC is the only Christian Church which has not added or taken away from the Church as it started. (I am not referring to the customs of the peoples, or the expressions of the faith in its music or art etc., but only to all things pertaining to faith and morals.)

God came to the Israelites and told them of His plan to save people. Then He sent Christ to fulfill His plan. Once Christ and the Apostles died, that was the end of Divine Revelation. So, the plan that was set in motion was revealed in its entirety and nothing can be added to it or taken away from it.

I see Protestant Churches taking away so very much from what the early Church believed and practiced. I want to be a part of the Church that Christ founded with nothing added and nothing taken away. That’s why I am not Protestant.

Vaclav:
What do you mean?
Something you said reminded me that I feel free as a Catholic. I just wanted to say that I feel free. I didn’t always feel free, you know. But I prayed the Memorare and the next day I was free. I think that is a miracle!

I hope I did not imply something against Catholicism that was unfair.
No, not at all. No worries. :hug1:

When I go up for communion, I see the throng of faces all focused on our Lord. I know they are focussed because their eyes are wet and looking into the distance. I like hearing the babies screaming to each other like little birds.

Last Sunday I was looking at the church. My priest is being transferred. And I felt a closeness to this church. I was wondering to myself if I could ever adjust to going to another church and I didn’t think so.

Yet, are we not asked to move on in life? Look at poor Noah, Moses, Saul, Peter, the Apostles.

When I was a teenager, a family friend from Ireland came over and decided to hitch-hike across North America. I asked him if he was afraid. How could he be afraid? He had crossed the Sahara on a camel at the age of fourteen and spoke a million languages.

This is what he said: no matter where he went he was always at home because the Church was always there. I was stunned that such a man-about-the-world would say something so flagrantly poetic.

We always welcome visitors at the church. We can recognize the bus tours coming in and we chat them up. When I go up for communion, sometimes I feel that I will see many of these people in Heaven.

Sometimes I feel very alienated in the world and sometimes even among other Church members, but during the Mass all that goes away. It’s like breathing oxygen.

I was born to a mother who was a fanatic Catholic, My dad was a Lutheran and was non-practicing for the most part.

I am not Protestant because I have never found anything in Protestantism that truly links to the early Christians.

I have studied Christianity for years, and the more I study – the more I read the early Church fathers, the more I see my Church is true to the original faith – and the more I see that Protestantism has moved away from the original Church.

For reasons which are too personal to discuss in public.

“Sola Fidelis” ? I didn’t know Fidelis was that powerful 😃 ##

**i Am A Protestant Southern Baptist Once Catholic. I Do Not Follow Catholicism Because Of The Gospel According To Rome, Process Of Canonization, Mary Worship And The Fallacies Of Her Assumption And Immaculate Conception. The Bible Never Calls Mary “holy”. It Is Way Overused By The Rcc. **

Manny’s first language is not english.

We all knew what he meant.

And, he is not asking for point by point reasons. He gave the ones you are aware of.

Lets not split hairs.😉

  1. The Sacraments–they are real, both Spirit and body, not some symbol of a lost reality.
  2. The “Communion of Saints”–at every Mass, I feel a connection with the past 2000 years of Saints and martyrs, pleading for us and redemption at the foot of the Throne. They are looking out for us.
  3. The Blessed Sacrament–Our Lord’s word cannot be more clear and obvious: “This IS My Body”…Can you get much more clear than that?
  4. The Catechism–a universal work that transcends politics, culture, or the personal preferences of individual pastors.
  5. Unity–Christ called for unity, the Protestant jungle of over 20,000 denomination doesn’t seem to match Our Lord’s call for Unity (particularly when the authority of Sarcred Writ is challenged, and the Incarnation and Resurrection are challenged, the the Trinity is denied in many of them.)
  6. The Liturgy–Protestants have no sense of Liturgy. The fact that the Church has orchestrated beautiful Liturgy that reflects the Truths of Faith and is centered on the Word speaks volumes about the respect Holy Mother Church has for the Truth.
  7. The Church Doctors–You can’t argue that Augustine, Acquinas, Anselm, and Jerome were Catholic. Sorry Dad.
  8. The Blessed Virgin–The respect and hyperdoulia the Church has for Our Mother is refelctive of our understanding of the Incarnation and the salvation plan for us. Her undying intercessions for us, as well as her Fiat are a perfect exemplar of Christian Charity and Love. “Hail Mary”…always!
  9. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, et al.–They are Protestant…I am not. There is a reason for that…I don’t like them, or their heretical ideas!
  10. I firmly believe I was born Catholic (and didn’t know it). I held the Real Presence, the Primacy of Peter, and authority of the Magisterium as articles of my Faith. I listened when JPII spoke, and took his words as ones spoken with the authority that my pastor (or his successor, or the other pastors I heard) lacked. When he said no contraception, I said, “I will not use contraception.” When he said no sex outside of marriage, I said “I will wait until I am married for sex.” When he condemned abortion, I became anti-abortion (and for that I was roundly condemned). All this when I was an evangelical high schooler.
  11. I believe the Holy Spirit has guided the Church in ALL Truth since Pentecost in ca. 33AD. I believe that is not the case for those not in communion with the Bishop of Rome.
  12. Did I mention I don’t like Luther, Calvin, Cranmer, or Zwingli?
  13. I prefer the “Gospel According to Rome (that is 2000 years of Apostolic Succession)” than the “Gospel According to Me” or the “Gospel according to Pastor Joe”.

Rome Has Not Been Guided By The Holy Spirit In All Matters. No Matter The Denomination The Fact That They Believe That They Need Jesus As A Savior Is The Main Deal. Other Logistics Are Beside The Point.

Just a tip–I think all my views are crucial, too, but writing in All Capitalized Words sort of spoils the effect. 🙂

I am sorry you leff the One True Church. i am even sorrier that whoever was resonbile for teachng you about the Catholic faith did just a horrible job of it. There is not a single thing in your complaints about the Church that is true.

The topic of the thread is Why are you not Protestant? Can you answer this question?

🙂 If you can’t then I suggest you register in RCIA and then try to answer it.
