No sweat, I’m here to help!

Catholics did not remove any commandments they grouped “thou shalt not have other gods before me” with “thou shalt not make graven images” together, because it’s about the same thing. Lutherans number the commandments the same way Catholics do. But you can’t say Lutherans “worship idols.”
Plus, the Ten Commandments are not only found in Exodus but also in
Deuteronomy 5:6-21 (link), this is the main one that we as Catholics look to, although Protestants tend to look at the commandments in Exodus 20. In the Deuteronomy version of the ten commandments we have 15 lines and 15 sentences. How do we group these into TEN commandments? The Bible does not group these into ten commandments. We have to figure it out for ourselves. And plus if you look at the Deuteronomy commandments it splits the commandments “don’t covet your neighbor’s wife” from “don’t covet your neighbor’s goods” and puts it in front of it. That’s why we have “don’t covet your neighbor’s wife” as the ninth and the tenth is “don’t covet your neighbor’s goods.”
Also keep in mind that Judaism splits “I am the Lord your God” (as to make it a commandment against Atheism) from “Don’t have any other gods before me” and groups “don’t have any other gods before me” with “don’t make graven images” as we do.
Hope this helps. God bless :byzsoc:
