If Catholics do not worship Mary then…
Why are there seven times as many Hail Mary’s in the rosary as there are mentions of Jesus Christ?
Why are there many more statues of Mary than Jesus Christ in Catholic churches?
Why are there hardly any statues of Jesus as a grown man in Catholic churches? You see him mainly as an infant or on a crucifix.
Why did Pope John Paul II after he was shot and his life was in danger call out to “Mary my mother” instead of “God my Father”?
Why do people make pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima for the Blessed Mother?
Why do people deck out statues of Mary with jewels and crowns in their homes, cars, and yards?
Why are many more huge statues of Mary constructed that look out over cities than those of Christ?
Why are hymns and songs sung in honor of Mary?
Why do millions of people walk in processions following statues of Mary?
Why do catholics knowingly cause offense to Protestants by overusing excessively gratuitous terms for Mary like “Queen of Heaven”, “Holy Mother of God”, “Hail Holy Queen”, “Mother of Mercy”, “Blessed Mother” and “Our life, our sweetness, our hope”
Why has a petition of six million people lobbied the pope to proclaim Mary as Co-Redemptrix?
Why was a massive assembly of the Pope, cardinals and bishops devoted to the consecration of the world to the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”.
Why do people weep and raise their arms and millions of candles in adoration to Mary (and not Jesus) at these assemblies.
And why have I had posts such as this deleted for allegedly insulting God and the Catholic church on a Catholic forum when I asked these questions? They are questions…I would love to know the answers…instead of having my post deleted answer them. What would Jesus do?

🤷

Big problem: Rosary ain’t a necessity for salvation. Worrying about repetition in a prayer that’s not exactly necessary for your salvation is kinda pointless don’t you think?
Why are there many more statues of Mary than Jesus Christ in Catholic churches?
Typical anti-Catholic stereotype with no basis in reality. Want proof? I could take a picture of many parishes nearby that hardly have any statues and they’re as validly Catholic as the Vatican.
Why are there hardly any statues of Jesus as a grown man in Catholic churches? You see him mainly as an infant or on a crucifix.
Inside a lot of churches here, I’ve seen portraits of Stations of the Cross, all with a center view of Christ in the various stages of his Passion, Death, and Resurrection. 🤷
Why did Pope John Paul II after he was shot and his life was in danger call out to “Mary my mother” instead of “God my Father”?
Why do people make pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima for the Blessed Mother?
For the same reason why people even today still make pilgrimages to Jerusalem? :ehh:
Why do people deck out statues of Mary with jewels and crowns in their homes, cars, and yards?
Funny. A lot of jeepneys I ride have Virgin Mary statuettes in front of the dashboard. Mind you, they’re as extravagant as worn out chess pieces. The same with a lot of statues in churches (especially old ones).
Why do millions of people walk in processions following statues of Mary?
Last time I checked, that only happens in Mexico.
Why are many more huge statues of Mary constructed that look out over cities than those of Christ?
Why are hymns and songs sung in honor of Mary?

Cuz they’re stupid and nearly half of them have little to no basis in fact? 😛

Are you sure your Catholic? Nothing that you have listed shows worship. You can use the Webster dictonary on line to define worship. Most of the list is biased and untruthful in fact I cannot find one statement that is true. If you want an answer do a research, there are many threads that deal with your misrepresentations. Also stick to one or two questions to begin with.

If Catholics do not worship Mary then…
  1. Why are there seven times as many Hail Mary’s in the rosary as there are mentions of Jesus Christ?
  2. Why are there many more statues of Mary than Jesus Christ in Catholic churches?
  3. Why are there hardly any statues of Jesus as a grown man in Catholic churches? You see him mainly as an infant or on a crucifix.
  4. Why did Pope John Paul II after he was shot and his life was in danger call out to “Mary my mother” instead of “God my Father”?
5)Why do people make pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima for the Blessed Mother?
  5. Why do people deck out statues of Mary with jewels and crowns in their homes, cars, and yards?
  6. Why are many more huge statues of Mary constructed that look out over cities than those of Christ?
  7. Why are hymns and songs sung in honor of Mary?
  8. Why do millions of people walk in processions following statues of Mary?
  10. Why has a petition of six million people lobbied the pope to proclaim Mary as Co-Redemptrix?

Well first, this reads like a laundry list of some of the biggest Protestant misconceptions that are hurled at Catholics… usually constantly. Each question on here has been answered dozens of times before in other threads, often at great length. The reason your posts were deleted was twofold. First, as I just stated, most of the answers to these questions can be readily found using the search button. Second, you started off your list in an accusatory way. “If Catholics do not worship Mary” could have been better stated something like, “Many Protestants say that we worship Mary. How do I address these objections?” The first sounds like you agree with Protestants, and you’re leveling an accusation. What if it was turned around and said, “Why do Protestants have so little respect for Mary? For example, it’s clear that they don’t care about her because…” The second form seeks to understand the issue. Now that said, it’s easy to be misunderstood on the internet. Nuances of tone that you get from face-to-face conversation are often lost, and one can often seem blunt or rude when they are not trying to be. (As I probably am now.)

Now, that said, I’ll see how many of your questions I can tackle.
Question 1:
When I teach this concept in my college Western Civilization classes, I phrase it something likes this.
  1. If you are a Christian, have you ever asked your congregation to pray for an intention, like a sick relative? The answer is that most likely, you have. Your whole congregation, together, prays aloud for the person to get better (or whatever the intention is). Is this problematic?
  2. As a Christian, do you believe in eternal life, whether it be in heaven or hell? For MOST Christian denominations, this is a key element of the faith. It is critical that we understand that when we die, we do not simply cease to exist, but continue on, thanks to the saving power of Christ. Death no longer has any power over us.
  3. So… if people do not cease to exist, and it’s ok to ask for a group of living people to pray together, why wouldn’t it be ok to ask both the living AND the dead to pray for our intentions?
Look at two famous Catholic prayers:

In the Hail Mary, we say “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray FOR us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.” We are not praying TO her as much as we are asking her to pray WITH us and FOR us.

Now, look at the Penitential Rite of the Mass, which you will hear every week in church:

“And I ask Blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
All the angels and saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray FOR me to the Lord our God.”

Catholics consider prayer so important, that here, we are actually asking the whole of creation to join us in prayer, including both the living, the dead, and even the angels and saints! This serves as a reminder that we are a part of a larger creation, and helps foster Christian unity.

It’s important to know that Catholic prayer does not involve JUST Jesus and Mary either. There are prayers to MANY different angels and saints as well.

(I also sometimes comment that there are ten times as many prayers involving Mary in the Hail Mary because our prayers directly to God are ten times more important, although that’s more of a joke than a truth! lol)

continued…

Question 2 and 3:
A Catholic Church must ALWAYS have a crucifix at the direct front of the church, helping to emphasize the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus as the absolute CENTER of our worship. Further, statues of Jesus as an infant are common to celebrate the miracle of His virgin birth. Still, you must remember that we have something BETTER than statues of Jesus… we have Jesus HIMSELF in the flesh in the Eucharist. Since it is TRULY Him, we bow down in reverence before Him both at Mass and at Eucharistic adoration.

We have statues to Mary and saints as reminders of their actions on earth. Think of it as almost a “hall of fame”, presenting the greatest humans that have ever lived. They provide us with role models to emulate. Now, with regard to Mary, we often have more statues of her because she has appeared to many people across the world throughout the years as a miracle. For example, tens of thousands witnessed the “Miracle of the Sun” at Fatima, including non-Catholic Christians, communists, atheists, and secular news reporters. Each miracle can be celebrated with a unique statue.

Question 4:
First, I’d like to see the source of the quote. Second, it’s true that Pope John Paul II had a unique devotion to the Virgin Mary. This is because she correctly predicted his assassination attempt all the way back in 1917 in what’s sometimes referred to as the Third Secret of Fatima. God sent him a warning that was delivered by Mary to the three children at Fatima.

Question 7:
The number of statues of Jesus that overlook cities is almost certainly far, FAR in excess of the number of statues of Mary. For example (and note that these are all historically CATHOLIC locations):

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Lisbon, Portugal

If Catholics do not worship Mary then…
Why are there seven times as many Hail Mary’s in the rosary as there are mentions of Jesus Christ?
EVERY Hail Mary ALSO mentions Jesus Christ - ‘blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus’

EVERY Hail Mary ALSO mentions God - ‘Holy Mary, mother of God’.

That’s two mentions of the Godhead for two mentions of Mary.
Why are there many more statues of Mary than Jesus Christ in Catholic churches?
There is a crucifix - a statue of Jesus, in other words - in every single Catholic Church. It is required to be there under Church law. I’ve seen some Catholic churches that have no statues in them at all of Mary. Many of the statues of Mary that I DO see are ALSO statues of Jesus, in that she is holding baby Jesus in her arms.
Why are there hardly any statues of Jesus as a grown man in Catholic churches? You see him mainly as an infant or on a crucifix.
Ummm … He WAS a grown man on the crucifix. He certainly wasn’t a baby or teenager! Again, my experience of Catholic churches is that almost every single one without exception has a Sacred Heart statue or image somewhere - in other words Jesus as a grown man. By the way - we have Jesus really and truly present in the Eucharist in every single tabernacle. How is a statue better than or comparable with having Jesus Himself present in a unique way?
Why did Pope John Paul II after he was shot and his life was in danger call out to “Mary my mother” instead of “God my Father”?
Instead of??? How do you know that? Can you guarantee that everything he uttered was heard or reported?
Why do people make pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima for the Blessed Mother?
Why do they make pilgrimages to Thomas Jefferson’s house at Monticello, the Lincoln memorial or the Alamo? All places connected with or memorialising important events and people. Lourdes and Fatima are linked to famous events (alleged apparitions of Mary) as well as an important person.

By the way, they also make pilgrimages to the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament (a shrine to Jesus present in the Eucharist) in Alabama, and particularly to the Holy Land to see the places where Christ lived, worked and died.
Why do people deck out statues of Mary with jewels and crowns in their homes, cars, and yards?
Why do they build statues like the so-called ‘touchdown Christ’ in the US - it recently burned to the ground? Or the Corcovado Christ? Or Christ of the Andes?
Why are many more huge statues of Mary constructed that look out over cities than those of Christ?
Which statues of Mary are you referring to? The only huge religious statues I’ve heard of are of Christ - as I said, Corcovado Christ (surely the most iconic Christian religious statue anywhere in the world) and Christ of the Andes. And even they don’t compete with Mount Rushmore! Famous people get honoured in this way.
Why are hymns and songs sung in honor of Mary?
Why is ‘In the Name of Love’ sung by U2 in honour of Martin Luther King? Why did Luther Vandross write and sing ‘Dancing with my Father’ about his own father? Or the Spice Girls write and sing ‘Mamma’ about their mothers?
Why do millions of people walk in processions following statues of Mary?
Why do millions of people walk in processions following American flags? Did you know that on the day of Corpus Christi (a feast celebrating Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament) they walk in processions honouring Christ, and following no statue but Himself in the form of the Eucharistic bread?
Why do catholics knowingly cause offense to Protestants by overusing excessively gratuitous terms for Mary like “Queen of Heaven”, “Holy Mother of God”, “Hail Holy Queen”, “Mother of Mercy”, “Blessed Mother” and “Our life, our sweetness, our hope”
Why do Protestants knowingly cause offence to Catholics by assuming we worship Mary when we don’t? Or knowingly cause offence to us by assuming that to give her any of this acknowledgement somehow lessens our devotion to Christ, instead of enhancing it as family relationships DO enhance each other?
Why has a petition of six million people lobbied the pope to proclaim Mary as Co-Redemptrix?
Have you SEEN some petitions that are sent to governments of various stripes? And honestly, 6 million out of 1.2 BILLION? That’s a fraction of one percent.
Why was a massive assembly of the Pope, cardinals and bishops devoted to the consecration of the world to the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”.
You mean just like the consecration by Pope Leo XIII of the whole world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1899 - a consecration which was joined in not just by Cardinals and Bishops but many lay Catholics as well 🤷
Why do people weep and raise their arms and millions of candles in adoration to Mary (and not Jesus) at these assemblies.
Which assemblies? Have you seen the hundreds of millions in church every Sunday kneeling in adoration (more, in worship) of God at Mass?

Actually, you’ll see it at Fatima and Lourdes as well. You’ll see processions with Jesus, Mary, and ALL the saints in Spain during Holy Week as well.
I suppose its a Hispanic thing then. 🤷

You should consult a priest. If you are a new convert, it is easy to understand you may just be using words in the wrong way. Jesus would guide you to the truth of the matter. Ignorance is just the lack of knowledge, so Christ would advise one to seek out the knowledge. I would suggest a priest would be the best person to consult. Be careful what you read online and on sites not approved by the Church.

One could ask in return: If bible Christians do not worship the bible, then…
Why do they say their church is “bible based” instead of “Christ based”?
Why do they insist that the bible has authority of its own, like it’s a person?
Why do they use it as a foundation of their faith, like it’s a person?
Why do they run to it, saying “let’s see what it says”, like it’s a person?
Why do they claim the bible interprets itself, like a person?
Why do they have the bible in place of the altar in their church?
Why do they claim the bible is all you need, when it tells you it’s incomplete?
Why do they say “bible” first before they say “Christian”?
Why do they hate to be seen without one?
Why do they thump it?
Why do they ignore the Church before it had a bible?
Why do they always seem to be stuck in the Letter to the Romans?
Why?
Why?
Why?

But, this would show an equally appalling ignorance of, and disrespect for our brothers and sisters in Christ, would it not?

All the above posts should answer your “questions” completely and satisfactorily. You should also know that Jesus, as He hung on the cross, gave His mother, Mary, to us as our Mother. As such she should hold a prominent place in our lives and hearts, as we do our biological mothers.

Don’t you honor your biological mother ( unless of course she abused you )? Then think what Jesus, as God, does and has done for His mother. Should we then not follow suit? Or should we just ignore her as many of us do with our own biological mothers?

Explain why Protestants violate the first commandment by refusing to pray to the Holy Spirit and I’ll answer.

I think Jesus, being a good young Jewish man, would honor his mother and promote her honor and happiness. Remember Solomon? He treated his mother like she was the queen! Hey, wait a minute – she was the queen! Since Jesus is the King, that must make His mother, Mary, the queen.

It sounds as though you are at the beginning of your journey into the Church established by Christ 2000 years ago – as opposed to the religions made by men in the last 500 years. Pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you and do drop into church quite often to visit the Blessed Sacrament, esp during hours of adoration. Open your heart and He will open your mind.

God bless,
Dan

Have you every seen an explanantion of the The Hail Mary

This was taken from the Catholic Answers Website
The Hail Mary
The next prayer in the rosary, and the prayer which is really at the center of the devotion, is the Hail Mary. Since the Hail Mary is a prayer to Mary, many Protestants assume it’s unbiblical. Quite the contrary, actually. Let’s look at it.
The prayer begins, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.” This is nothing other than the greeting the angel Gabriel gave Mary in Luke 1:28 (Confraternity Version). The next part reads this way:
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.” This was exactly what Mary’s cousin Elizabeth said to her in Luke 1:42. The only thing that has been added to these two verses are the names “Jesus” and “Mary,” to make clear who is being referred to. So the first part of the Hail Mary is entirely biblical.
The second part of the Hail Mary is not taken straight from Scripture, but it is entirely biblical in the thoughts it expresses. It reads:
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
Let’s look at the first words. Some Protestants do object to saying “Holy Mary” because they claim Mary was a sinner like the rest of us. But Mary was a Christian (the first Christian, actually, the first to accept Jesus; cf. Luke 1:45), and the Bible describes Christians in general as holy. In fact, they are called saints, which means “holy ones” (Eph. 1:1, Phil. 1:1, Col. 1:2). Furthermore, as the mother of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Mary was certainly a very holy woman.
Some Protestants object to the title “Mother of God,” but suffice it to say that the title doesn’t mean Mary is older than God; it means the person who was born of her was a divine person, not a human person. (Jesus is one person, the divine, but has two natures, the divine and the human; it is incorrect to say he is a human person.) The denial that Mary had God in her womb is a heresy known as Nestorianism (which claims that Jesus was two persons, one divine and one human), which has been condemned since the early 400s and which the Reformers and Protestant Bible scholars have always rejected.
Another Mediator?
The most problematic line for non-Catholics is usually the last: “pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.” Many non-Catholics think such a request denies the teaching of 1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” But in the preceding four verses (1 Tim. 2:1-4), Paul instructs Christians to pray for each other, meaning it cannot interfere with Christ’s mediatorship: “I urge that prayers, supplications, petitions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone. . . . This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior.”
We know this exhortation to pray for others applies to the saints in heaven who, as Revelation 5:8 reveals, intercede for us by offering our prayers to God: "The twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Why do they ignore the Church before it had a bible?
Why do they always seem to be stuck in the Letter to the Romans?
Why?
Why?
Why?

But, this would show an equally appalling ignorance of, and disrespect for our brothers and sisters in Christ, would it not?
You know I’d become a Protestant if one can show me where the Bible is the Sole Rule of Faith?

All I need is:

Bible Alone

And

Faith Alone for Salvation? Also where is this taught in the Bible?

They have not been able to show me yet; after all the Bible is a Catholic document!!!

So I guess I’ll stay with the ONE Church that was founded by Our Lord Jesus.

Ooh, posts like this really burn me up. Thanks for asking…

Why are there many more statues of Mary than Jesus Christ in Catholic churches? Because the statue to end all statues is sitting right there on the altar.

Why are there hardly any statues of Jesus as a grown man in Catholic churches? You see him mainly as an infant or on a crucifix. Because we have a living one standing right there at the altar.

Why do millions of people walk in processions following statues of Mary? Because she’s the new ark of the covenant.

Why do catholics knowingly cause offense to Protestants by overusing excessively gratuitous terms for Mary like “Queen of Heaven”, “Holy Mother of God”, “Hail Holy Queen”, “Mother of Mercy”, “Blessed Mother” and “Our life, our sweetness, our hope” To rub it in.

Why has a petition of six million people lobbied the pope to proclaim Mary as Co-Redemptrix? To rub it in even more.

Why was a massive assembly of the Pope, cardinals and bishops devoted to the consecration of the world to the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”. She asked.

They are questions…I would love to know the answers…instead of having my post deleted answer them. What would Jesus do? He’d ask only the questions he already knows the answers to.

At Fatima, Our Lady said that God wished to establish in the world a devotion to Her Immaculate Heart - I believe it.
At Akita, She said sadly that priests having a devotion to Her would, in the future (now?) be mocked by their confreres.
When the missionaries introduced the devotion to Mary in Africa, it was readily accepted and understood because, if they wanted to make a request of their chief, they went to the chief’s mother first so that she could ‘put in a word’.
He gave us His Mother as ours as He died. What does any mother do? if She can’t help us, what kind of a mother would She be and why would He have given Her to us?
He loves Her and honours her because She was the only one of His creatures who was always and in every situation, totally good and faithful and He wants us to love and honour Her too. How wonderful is that?
Thank you Jesus.

Since Mary is not God, and has no powers other than to beseech God upon our behalf, she is clearly not worshiped.

Mary is revered. Mary is honored. Mary is called upon to petition her son, Jesus Christ, on our behalf. The Bible itself shows us that Jesus did not deny His mother what she requested of Him. It also shows us that Mary is the human being who lived closest to Jesus Christ. From the moment of His conception to Mary’s own Assumption into Heaven it is Mary, the New Eve, whose relationship with Christ we must strive to emulate.

We obviously can’t emulate Christ’s relationship with Himself or the Father or Spirit’s relationship to the Son. So what other life better teaches us the proper relationship with Jesus? St. Peter, rebuked by Christ and denied him three time? St. Paul who persecuted and killed Christians until Christ struck him down on the road to Damascus? God the Father gave us the example of Mary’s relationship with Jesus for a very important reason - something that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

All Marian devotions revolve around one single thing: Mary’s relationship with her son - Jesus Christ.

As to the Rosary, it is not prayed in vain repetition. It is prayed in persistent supplication and focused meditation upon the mysteries of Christ’s time on earth. As Jesus taught us: "I tell you, if the man does not get up and give it to him for friendship’s sake, persistence will make him get up and give his friend all he wants." - Luke 11,8
