It is quite simple. We know because we can rely on the very promise given to us by God himself. God gave us his promise that he would send the Holy Spirit that would protect HIS church for EVERY generation. Even the gates of Hail can not prevail against it. IF we are wrong then God didn’t keep his promise. So simply put, do you have enough faith in God to trust his promise? Every generation includes the one right after his death and resurrection, the generation before the Bible, the generation before Constantine, the generation before Luther, and the generation we are in now. Gods church has been there under his protection the entire time. To claim that it has gone apostate or changed is to claim that God didn’t protect it. There is only one church that fits Gods promise. How can one know that the “church” is the “church” Jesus had in mind?
How do we know it has not gone way off track?
How do we know that the answers are not right before our face but refuse to believe the truth?
What if we are wrong?

So when did it go wrong? And of the thousands and thousands of different denomnations how do we know who has the tuth?I didn’t preset this logic (illogic) you did. I didn’t say that the church was wrong from the beginning.
That’s a nice (but way played out) pundit, but the truth is the Church didn’t just go running off of a cliff abruptly. It was as you know a wandering away over generations and generations. It’s happening again today in a much more complex fashion. That is the very reason why we need to be so attentive and emersed in God’s Word. It never changes and will never change. So when did it go wrong? And of the thousands and thousands of different denomnations how do we know who has the tuth?
So if the Church slowly wondered away, Did God keep his promise to protect her in every generation? That’s a nice (but way played out) pundit, but the truth is the Church didn’t just go running off of a cliff abruptly. Absolutely. I have seen with my own eyes how God is faithful to those who follow him no matter what denomination they call themselves. So if the Church slowly wondered away, Did God keep his promise to protect her in every generation?
The Church hasnt wandered at all-thats just a convenient excuse for justifying discension form its teachings, As far as being attentive and emersed in Gods word-who’s version of God’s word? That’s a nice (but way played out) pundit, but the truth is the Church didn’t just go running off of a cliff abruptly. The truth. Is there any other version? The Church hasnt wandered at all-thats just a convenient excuse for justifying discension form its teachings, As far as being attentive and emersed in Gods word-who’s version of God’s word?
It appears there are thousnads of different versions. The Mormon have a quite differretent version of the Trurh than do the Baptists who are different from the Lutherans who are different from the Presbyterians, etc, etc, etc. Who’s "truth do we accept and why?The truth. Is there any other version?
Nice side step.Absolutely. I have seen with my own eyes how God is faithful to those who follow him no matter what denomination they call themselves.
and then there is the Catholic version. so? Then there is the version that my priest had (which in some cases was different from what Catholic belief was). What is your point? Knowing the truth comes from the Holy Spirit. What makes you believe that only a select few can receive this from the Spirit? It appears there are thousnads of different versions. ??? Now how did you come up with that?Nice side step.
God gave his promise to HIS Church. He promised that the Gates of hell would not prevail against his church, in every generation. For your assumption to be right this plan of his would have to change at some point. When did God change his mind?
Everyone can recieve the Truth from the Church Christ founded to be the guardian of the truth. Any other approach to discerning the truth leads to the mass confusion we have seen since the “reformers” decided we all got to figure it out for ourlsevesand then there is the Catholic version. so? Then there is the version that my priest had (which in some cases was different from what Catholic belief was). What is your point? Knowing the truth comes from the Holy Spirit. What makes you believe that only a select few can receive this from the Spirit?
I am convinced that you truly don’t know as much about the Reformers or the Reformation as you want to believe that you know. The Anglican church for example believes and has the same doctrines and Scriptures now as it had in its inception in 1534. We recite the same Nicene Creed as the Reformers did. Where are these 33,000 ways to interpret Scripture that you believe exist? can you name the supposed 33,000+ Protestant denominations? I think that this non-Catholic thing has been carried much too far.Everyone can recieve the Truth from the Church Christ founded to be the guardian of the truth. Nonsense-just last week the angilcan Church changed its doctrine of female bishops having previously changed its doctrine of female priests, abortion, homosexualtiy , contraception, just ot name a few.I am convinced that you truly don’t know as much about the Reformers or the Reformation as you want to believe that you know. Simple logic and a little knowledge of history.??? Now how did you come up with that?
Um? Ok I stand by my remarks and will not back off them, thats really effective when debating or examining both sides. Okies. Tell me then where does your claim come in that your Church is the one founded by Christ?Hi David Vestal,
I still stand by my remarks and will not back off of them.
Always remember traditionalist Catholic has two meaning if you spell it with a (T) one is for the Tridentine Mass and if one spells it will a (t) one thinks one is traditional in the Catholic faith.
Have a good day.

i didn’t say that. You are assuming that God is only speaking of one denomination, more precisely yours. i am saying that God is speaking of those folks who are his people. Christ’s true followers. Are you suggesting that those folks who are truly the followers of Christ are merely independents scattered about and not the ones that the gates of hell will not prevail against?Simple logic and a little knowledge of history.
100 years after Jesus died on the cross and St John had just passed away, we still have the Church established by Jesus Christ. We have the promise of God almighty that this very church would have his protection for every generation. EVERY SINGLE ONE, including ours today. We also know that it is this very same church that is the pillar and ground for Gods truth. Where do you find God telling us that he will protect his church, the pillar and ground of his truth, for a few generations, but at some point it would change and individuals would become the pillar and ground of his truth guided by the Holy Spirit and the Bible. Help me out here because I can’t find that anywhere in scripture.
It would take quite a few pages to show all 33,000 but here are a frew to ponder:I am convinced that you truly don’t know as much about the Reformers or the Reformation as you want to believe that you know.
