A Catholic cannot get a divorce. I suggest reading Karl Keating’s book What Catholics Really Believe - Setting the Record Straight. It has answers to 52 common misconceptions about the Catholic faith. For that specific information, you should go to section Three: The Mass and the Sacraments, misconception number 23, which begins on page 61.

I’m not even going to try to pretend to understand as well as everyone else, but I don’t think everyone needs to be defending him. “Look at it from his side?” Why should we do that? He did something that was wrong. He lusted after, and objectified, some teen girls because he was “bored?” “Bored?” That’s his excuse? What ever happened to reading a book? If he’s so bored, couldn’t he have used the phone to talk to you (unless you were busy at your work place, if you have one)?

Tell him he’s experiencing atavism. It’s a term that denotes the tendency to revert to ancestral type. It’s an evolutionary throwback.

Ah, but even though he made a mistake, you should try to forgive him. I’m sure you can work it out with him. This isn’t a reason to end something good.

Been there, done that, only I wasn’t Catholic at the time. But felt all of the emotions you are expressing here.

It is a long road out, but not hopeless. You will find porn again. You will be lied to again. It is an addiction.

why take chances?
I agree. I am not advocating breast implants, i’m just saying they do not cause breast cancer. Breast implants are a stupid vain idea. espeacilly in the op’s case. Getting a “boob job” to stop a husbands wondering eye. is just a superficial fix to a problem that goes a lot deeper.

Danny,

First off Im really sorry you as a woman had to go through something like this. Wow, It must be a real shock to you. But did you ever have an inkling that your husband wasn’t who he said he was?

Danny Its tough. I know its got to be really hard on you .I think danny the only thing that will restore your marriage is a serious Prayer life. I would try to go to adoration with your husband as much as you can, to Holy Mass.

Danny it sounds like your husband is under a powerful addiction and he needs your Support. Hes going to need as much as God’s Power as possiable to overcome this addiction.

Danny…Pray and fast for your husband and yes forgive him. I know its hard, but you need to intercede for his eternal soul.

I pray for you woman

God bless

I did a google search, and it can cause some early stage tumors to go undetected…but yes, it doesn’t directly cause breast cancer. I should have elaborated. But, they can leak, and cause infections, and illnesses. Look at what happened with Pamela Lee…yikes. She has a lot of issues. I just don’t believe in them, unless they are for reconstructive surgery after a masectomy. But, for vanity purposes, I don’t believe in them.

To Dannilyn–It looks like you are in brighter spirits, and that things are looking a bit on the upswing today. That is good! I will continue to pray for you and your hubby. I hope that you both overcome this hurdle very soon. God bless!

No No No No No. Sorry to say this, but you getting surgery is NOT going to solve the problem. Your husbands problem isn’t YOU. It’s his own addiction to Porn. That’s the problem you guys need to tackle. Not your body. Guys hormonoes’ are NEVER satisfied. The body is ALWAYS craving for more and more and more. So even if you get your body fixed up, that’s not going to solve anything. Yeah he may be a lil more interested in you Physically (What guy wouldn’t be?), but then he might just go and keep doing what he’s doing anyways.

Plus from the last sentence you entered in your first reply, in a way it sounded like your just doing this to get back at him. Because you said he’s worried that guys may look at you, but he looks at girls all day so to bad. Sweetie, I know it may sound mean, but your taking the completely wrong angle on this issue. You guys need to work on your MARRIAGE. Not your body. Because after all, he should love for who you are. You shouldn’t have to get SURGERY just to get him to like you more. No, he married you so it shouldn’t matter to him if you look “Slim & trim” or not.

You guys need to see a Therapist, talk to a priest, things of that nature. But trust me, surgery is NOT going to fix this problem…

Dontcha think comparing youtube to porn is a little bit of a stretch? There is much worse stuff to be found on TV. It would be like saying Cosmo or Maxim is porn. They aren’t. Titilating, yes, but porn? Give me a break…

I didn’t think ‘porn’ was allowed on youtube…or any type of nudity…is that right?

There may be some toplessness (brief) but nothing that would be considered ‘Porn’.

Read the whole thread… utube is not YouTube. It’s different, and as one user found, blocked by his filter.

Dannilynn, you all need family counseling right now. Both of you were abusive to your children by dragging them into it and the things you said… BOTH of you. You claim you don’t want to damage your husband’s reputation, but at the same time tell your kids he wants teenage girls in a sexual way over his wife, their mother?

He needs to deal with his issues, you with yours, both of you as a couple, and you all need to repair the trauma done to your children by both of you being totally and completely inappropriate with them!

How does looking at porn help a man deal with his problems with his wife? It doesn’t… but it gives the illusion for a while. It’s an escape, and the physical satisfaction can allow him to fool himself into feeling the emotional satisfaction that comes from being loved by his woman. But later it feels empty, hollow, fake… as it is. He feels more bereft, he repeats… and it becomes a vicious cycle. Are there really NO problems in your marriage that you could see driving him to porn?

Danni,

I’ll be praying for you. His problem sounds like an addiction to me I hope you guys are able to work things out. 👍

Well let’s turn the tables around…
Let’s pretend you are a happily married man, many years of wonderful friendship, lovemaking, family time, etc with your wife. She’s the “most perfect” thing in your world, there is not a single other woman that could ever take her place, she’s loved by everyone that meets her, kind, gentle, sweet, never loses her patience and if she has it doesn’t even last more than 30 seconds…She’s always giving, always putting others first, hard working, always greets you with a smile, and she looks great in anything she wears, always cheery and always loving with the children. She is a great leader and a person to admire. You feel you are the luckiest man alive to have such a great partner! Couldn’t have it any other way…You feel you are content with the “great” sex life you have together and the romantic and passionate moments you still share after all these years…You know she’s successful at work and multitasks perfectly well at home. She even waited till all the children were old enough for school to start her career and is managing all things perfectly well!!! You couldn’t be more happy.

One night you decide to get the kids in your room so you can have family movie night, you decide to use the computer since it’s hooked up to your television and the screen is a little bigger, so you decide to click on something in the menu bar or even favorites and it says “movies” and OMG while one of you children is around you, a porn flick comes on…It’s a guy and a girl, both very young and attractive…your jaw just drops and you play it out with your child, and say you accidentally clicked on a “demon’s sight” I don’t know you make up something…Well now what? You decide to put the children to bed and explain that tomorrow night will be movie night…You decide to see what in the world is going on, and click on other “movies” not for curiosity because it’s “attracking” you but because you need to understand what in the world is going on and how many of these perverted things are in your “family” computer, or in your “wife’s” computer…She walks in and gives you some lame excuse at first, of “oh honey it’s nothing really!! Actually it was that one night my bff came over remember and oh she started looking at that stuff I just forgot to delete them!!! hahaha!!! Silly me!!?” And then there are countless more around in other areas of the computer saved, and you are just staring into your wife’s eyes and she confesses she was bored at home and just was curious!!!

The anger that has built up just thinking your wonderful marriage, the nights of passion, the lovemaking could have been happening because of some lustful satisfaction this woman was having?! Your mind begins to ask a million questions at a time, why, when, where, how, what caused this, what were you thinking?! But you can’t put your thoughts together, and you feel your body just burning up with frustration and anger, all the happy moments, the her smiles, her loving words, was it all a lie? You can even begin to question who is this woman? So you blurr out, “well if those kind of men make you happy then I am hitting the gym even longer than before, I will be there 4 hours instead of 2, Oh and see this little gut and these small guns well guess what I am going to take some steriods and building that sixpack you admire so much and make sure I have guns even bigger than that OK!!!” So your wife responds with, “but baby I love you just the way you are!!” And you just blurr out something more painful because you are feeling destroyed, your world just tumbled down, and your wife screams for your teenaged kids, and tells them “daddy wants to do this and this because he’s so greedy!!” And so you respond with, “Oh yeah well mommy stares at young guys all the time and wants them!!” (BIG MISTAKE OBVIOUSLY)

But as horrible as that is, you are not thinking properly at the moment, you are broken, you are hurt, you feel that you are dying little by little inside, you can’t understand what happened and are unable to control yourself…

Maybe to none of you this has happened but I understand how things can get out of hand. Your world is falling apart, even if it’s for a moment, and an hour later everything is fine…I understand that…But it’s a mistake, and something that can be repaired.

Obviously the OP will need some counseling but I empathise with her and I understand her feelings and pain, and even though what she did was wrong,

This is a really good post !!!

My priest told me that when my husband was just looking at women who were immodestly dressed that it was wrong. And that I had a right to be angry because he was betraying me and our marriage vows. It was like committing adultery in his heart. He also said that my husband needed to have custody of the eyes I take care of my physical appearance and we really love each other and have a great love life. I agree that the op has a right to be angry. The husband has no excuse to be viewing other women porn or not. Being male and more visual is not an excuse. Like another poster said he could find other things to do or get help. The op needs to forgive but it will take a lot of time. Put yourself in her place. Forgiving someone when you have been that hurt is very hard and an act of the will but it does not mean that you can forget. Danni, my prayers and empathy are with you!

My Catholic husband brought home his laptop from work. We were looking at homesteading video’s on it. I noticed some inappropriate videos in there & told him it must be pretty easy to see porn things on u-tube. I was worried when he said, “You can’t see the real porn unless you sign up saying you are over 18.”

My teen girl saw the first clips and I had to explain using explanation HE gave me:Yes, Dad made a mistake and he’s sorry. He was bored. She was digusted by it and shocked. We homeshcool so our kids are especially innocent even though they are teens. He actually called the others into our room and outed himself to them! I begged him not to discuss it with them, fearing that they would disrespect him. He told them about what he did and I got so mad, started crying and blurted out that it was teens and young women Dad wants, not me. He likes to view trashy rednecks drunk! His purpose at including the kids was to tell them why there was tension but his real purpose came in his words to them, “…and Mom wants to waste all our money on surgery to get breast implants and other stuff so other men can look at her and we will be financially runied forever.”

No, what Mom wants is to be attractive enough to her husband so he doesn’t continue down the road to Hell and cheat on me which all porn user eventually do-that or molest some child.

I’m really upset and crushed to know that even the “good” men are not good. He told me he wasn’t as “good” as me and what did I expect. I told him I expected not to be cheated on virtually or otherwise. I expected him to love me. I have been bored a lot and have never went to view any men or teen boys being gay to each other. Why do men do that? Why can’t they be mature and exhibit control over themselves. My 17 yr old son said later on, "I am disappointed because Dad is a grown man. He knew that was wrong. Why can’t he control himself. That’s sick. The kids are angry that he wants to destroy a good thing we had going: a holy family.

Anyway, I suppose I am keeping my appt with the surgeon today at 1:00. My husband will be so mad. Money has to be more important than me, I guess, after all I am nothing. I assured him that I have no intention of cheating on him or finding someone else. It appears he under the impression that as soon as a wife gets implants, they leave the guy who paid for them and someone else gets the benefit. He said that he knew 2 guys this happened to…

Tough thing, that. Now he can be worried that other men are checking me out while I worry about him checking out other women. Touche’. I want my husband to love me and notice me and be faithful to me. I love him and I feel that this is the only thing I can do besides all the Mass going and praying I have always done for him to save my marriage. At least he’ll be curious about me when I heal for a bit.

Danni :crying:
My wife is young and hott! She has a hott body. IT DOESN’T MATTER. **The eyes of man are never satisfied!**I struggle with porn because the fantasy makes me feel really good. It lifts the boredom of my lonely day, and lust is addictive. Unfortunately, your husband believes the porn lie. BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THAT! YOU CAN! The lie is the woman is really enjoying the sex but in actuality, she hates it. They both hate it, and each other, the room is filled with people and bright lights, she does drugs to cope with the embarrasment and shame. She can’t look herself in the mirror. Endless porn “stars” committ suicide every year. It’s a lie from the father of lies. That isn’t the way sex is most enjoyable. Porn creates an ever increasing craving for an ever diminishing pleasure, thats hell’s design to watch men suffer. Sex is most enjoyable when reserved and defended for husband as wife, that is how God designed it most enjoyable for “at His righthand are pleasures for evermore.”

Don’t get the surgery, you may live with bad surgery.

The answer is knowledge! Expose the lie, look at the faces of the stars who took their lives from this “great fun and amazing good time they were having!” EXPOSE THE LIE Please, I know you feel betrayed, you have been, and feeling so is natural and right, but please see your husband as a victim. Because in reality, that is exactly what he is. He is caught in the “web” thats why its called the world wide web. The highest satisfaction and pleasure and fullfillment sexually that he will ever experience is with you. That is the truth. Learn all about it, YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN! I watched porn everyday for years, I’m down to once every couple months I slip a peek at a little legs and stumble, guess what? So does your priest! You too look at hot Brad Pitt take off his shirt. God made us sexually drawn. It is right and good, its a decision to be faithful to our spouse, and your husbands decision making has been highjacked by a power far greater than his own to get clean.

knowledge is power:thumbsup:

Internet is the devil’s playground

I know this might upset you, but dragging the children into your problems was despicable for both of you. You continued dragging your children into it by telling your kids on the way to mass that all of you were going to do battle for their “daddy’s” soul. You are trying to divide your children’s loyalties by implying that their father is losing or has lost his soul. Doing this is a subconsiously manipulative action. Your placing yourself up on a wounded martyr’s pedestal in your children’s eyes, while getting their sympathy as well. If you truly wanted to do what was best for your children and their father, you could simply say to the children that their father needs some prayers right now so offer your mass up for him. You don’t have to portray him as weakly struggling with the devil and you and the children have to save him.

I don’t know if you frequently use this type of imagery with your children, but it could be why your husband said he wasn’t as good as you.

It sounds like you take a great deal of pride in taking care of your body, being on the church council, being well thought of in the church community, home schooling your children etc. You had this image of yourself and family that you brag about to people in the community. (Wonderful husband, good children, active in church and so on. ) It could be a lot for a husband to live up to.

I think this image you created could also be why your husband’s mistake hit you so hard. You also stated that your previous husband was into pornography, so unconsciously, in a moment of panic, you might have made some kind of association between them that made you feel like this was a bigger betrayal than it actually was.

Naturally, I think that you and hubby need counseling, and your position on the parish counsel might make this embarrassing for you guys to talk about to your priest. You might check with the Diocese anonymously to see if you can find a name of someone who counsels in this area or a priest who works with men who have this problem. It may help him to go alone so he wont feel like you’re there judging him or feel that he might hurt you more.

As for the pornography itself, it’s such an easy temptation for men to accidentally fall into. My little autistic nine year old somehow disabled the strict google search perimeters and was searching images for Nova, the PBS tv series. Instead he came up with pictures of nude women. It could be something that simple that set off an arousal and curiousity. From there, he had hormones pumping, and I think it’s kind of difficult for people to make good decisions when the hormones start pumping. From then on, the internet became a near occasion of sin for him. I seriously doubt if it had anything to do with you, unless ya’ll have been having problems in bedroom area.

Also, you seem to be very insecure about the way you look. Don’t use your husband’s problem as an excuse to try to alleviate your insecurities with plastic surgery.

Instead of focusing on how your body looks, why don’t you and your husband start reading some of Christopher West’s books about The Theology of the Body. Once you read Theology of the Body or some of West’s books about it, you will come to understand how little a flat chest has to do with real love and the marriage act. I think it may bring a fullness into your marriage that may be missing.

I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, sometimes I speak too bluntly.

God Bless you and your husband and your children. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your prayers, and advice.

Since my original post I learned some hard truths about the situation:

My husband had told me that it was an accident that he got on utube etc. and “at least I didn’t go searching for it…”

We both went to Confession.

Then yesterday, I saw on his computer that he had done what he said and deleted all the history and bookmarks for his ummm pleasures. We were alone this time! I am ashamed of what we did to our children and I won’t ever repeat that scene!
I was again sickened to find that he HAD searched out Pam Anderson, degrading names of female body parts…sex…etc.
He got really mad when I asked him why he did a search for sex and why was he looking for Pamela Anderson, naked. At the time, he claimed he couldn’t even spell her name and told me he’d bash his computer with a hammer if I didn’t stop. “I’m not going thorugh this again!!,” he shouted. I opted to stop seeing all the terrible sites he was on. "

So, later, when we were alone in a car driving, I told him that I knew that he had been searching for sex, naked butts shaking, etc and that I needed his admission to move forward. I asked him about each of the searched and what he saw…he admitted vague things about the sites. I guess I don’t need too many details, it was bad enough.

Now, I am feeling pretty depressed and lied to several times. I specifically asked him why he lied when I caught him the first time…and he said, “I didn’t want to be throwing gas on the fire.”

Please pray for me to not be depressed. I guess the only good thing about this is that I’ve lost 7 pounds since my original post.

I feel like defending myself: I am the one with the higher sex drive. He is the one who is “tired” and desires “it” in the morning…despite the fact he never tries or wants to. I am actually pretty numb in the morning.I am the one initiating if something is gonna happen. He claims he always had a low sex drive. “It has nothing to do with you, honey.” So, I am confused. He said he was too busy at work to call me or email me during the day-but time enough for porn during lunch and at other times at work when he was alone in the office. I STILL don’t get it, sorry. Now, I will be plagued with the idea that he is thinking of Pam A. when he’s with me. AND I don’t look at Brad Pitt or any other man shirtless. I have been all the way, and in every way faithful. There is such a thing as controlling oneself and I find it easy. I do not get sexual temptations. Yeah, I know…sounds far-fetched but it is true. I don’t ever feel like looking or doing or peeking…

It is so hard to believe that a wife would WANT only their husband??!!???! I one of those poor unfortunates, I guess.

I am being pleasant because I am a naturally cheerful person and we have “made-up” in bed…but, it is REALLY hard for me to get past this. My trust is shot and he said he wants to “try to prove to me he can be trusted” and that he “isn’t addicted”.

Sounds awful but I don’t think I can go through this anymore. I’ve been honest with him and told him that I’m kicking him out if it happens again.(I don’t believe in divorce) He’s fully & completely assured me he is not addicted so I am taking him at his word and holding him to his promise. Since he is “NOT ADDICTED” there is no reason why he can’t live up to his promise. I hope he believes me. Porn is a scourge upon humanity and a blight of demons on the soul. I won’t have that demonic activity around me or our kids.

I’ve also told him how much he means to me and how much I love him. I’ve told him what I appreciate about him (I’ve always done that and expressed it) and that I know he isn’t evil. I do understand that he can’t be perfect…I just wish he would have “picked” something else to betray me with instead of the most destructive thing (for me) outside of adultery. (How about gambling? or being addicted to Cheetos?)I must admit, it feels like I have been cheated on. Remember what Jesus said…about looking at a woman with lust is adultery? (For those who think it porn is harmless). I’m harmed. The kids are harmed. He was walking around in mortal sin for a year…what would have happened to him if he died?!!

I REFUSE to believe the lie that ALL men look at porn!!! I think men just want to excuse themselves with the claim they ALL do it so it “must be natural”. Surely there is someone out there that is mature and can control himself? Are there any men on here that can tell me that they don’t do it? I would really benefit by hearing of one. I want to have hope in the future of humanity! I suspect my priest is holy. He is very good. I can’t imagaine him doing that. There ARE real men who remain chaste somewhere and I will cling to that. It helps me with my bad attitude about men if I can know that grace does affect men too and they can overcome what must be frightful plots and temptations from the depths of HELL itself. I am glad I am not a man right now. Well, always.

Please continue praying for me to be able to trust him and feel natural with him again. I know this is my temptation:Being prideful and feeling good and better than him.

Thanks!
Danni

Alas, my own father too has a great deal of pornography in his internet history. At least you’re in a position where you can confront the man on the subject. In my case, to do so would be ‘out of place’.

My very traditional, very un-Christian solution would be to treat him as though you would were he to come home hammered at 2 AM. Rolling pin. Need I say more?

Honestly, it is time for your husband to step up to the plate and be a man about this situation. He needs to realize that what he is doing is first and foremost WRONG! Secondly he needs to realize the affect that this is having on his life. His wife, his children, his family, even his future. To me, it sounds as if the meaning of sex within your marriage is not clear. I believe that someone earlier recommended the “Good News About Sex and Marriage” by Christopher West and I do not recall if you had read that. If so, read it again. Read it together. Discuss it. Talk about it. Explore the depths of that book and what it means to you and your marriage.

His attitude about all this…well frankly it sucks. He is acting like a 5 year old that got caught with their hand in the cookie jar before dinner. The excuses and the dodging of questions is classic behavior for someone that does not want to take responsibility for their actions. This type of behavior should not be tolerated in your house. I am sure that it would be easier if you just swept it under the rug and pretended that it was not there. But what happens when you lift up that rug? The mess is still there. This mess has to be dealt with and taken care of by the two of you, now! Pornography destroys marriages! Let me say that again pornography destroys marriages!.

I feel that both of you need to take responsibility for this and start working on this immediately. Whether that is weekly meetings with your priest. Counseling. Filters on the computers. Whatever that may be, you need to take the steps to save your marriage. That is what this may come down to. The devil has taken this opportunity to attack you and your marriage where it is the weakest and most vulnerable. You need to take steps to stop this right now. Both of you do. It seems that he may not understand the gravity of this situation. Search through some of the posts on this forum to see the damage that a “small addiction” to pornography has caused.

Time for you husband to step up, be a man, be a husband, be a father. Time to right this wrong. Here are some helpful sights:

If he’s truly addicted he won’t be able to just stop. I feel he is addicted according to the information you’ve given us to go on. He needs to seek help. Don’t be surprised if you find him looking at more porno. The last thing an addict will ever do is admit to their addiction and that the first thing they need to do to overcome it. Maybe with GODs grace he can stop but I’m fearing it will be a long and hard road for him and a personal hell if he can’t come to terms with his addiction. One thing you might try is asking him how he would feel if there were porn pictures of his daughter, sister or wife circulating on the network and how he would feel about men ogling them. I’ll continue to pray for your family. Oh by the way I have a lot of friends who are great guys and not into porn at all and live good chaste live. They basically agree that waiting for the real act with their wife is preferable.

I’m really sorry to hear about your situation, thats horriable, but also keep in mind that getting cosmetic surgery isnt going to change anything, everyone is beautiful the way they are. By getting this surgery your almost incouraging your husband to see you in a different way, know that God created you and not for you to go and change it… As for your husband and the porn issue I’d definatly go talk to a priest and sit down with your husband and see where you two are at… your husband might just be going thru some phase, who knows… but communication and having God is the key here for sure… dont give up… your in my prayers! ❤️

Dannilynn I will pray for you and your husband. Porn is a horrible thing. I will admit that I looked at it when younger (before Al Gore invented the internet) but got over it. Porn is not about sex. It is about objectifying and controlling a child/children of God.

Pornography can lead to a mental/emotional disconnect concerning the opposite sex where you begin to think of women off all ages shapes and sizes and objects. Please have your husband see a priest. Only by truly seeking help and by truly confessing these sins can the healing process truly begin.

I can see it, and I’m a protestant!!!

Again, I will pray for your and your husband.
