Yeah, all by his lonesome. The Republican dominated Congress had absolutely nothing to do with it.
ACTUALLY…it was not on his own. Senator Reid assisted him significantly, as well as the 111th Congress, as a whole.

PLUS…LBJ can be thanked for a large part of it, as well (with his 'war on poverty" creating a huge amount of “mandatory” off-budget spending that is impossible to get under control without changing the nature of the entitlement itself.

Oh, that’s right. They didn’t build that. 😉

Jon
Wall Street. Good old Wall Street. Most of them should be in prison right now. Tell me how I can put my money in offshore accounts or exclude it from taxation.

Peace,
Ed

  1. *]Get some money together
    *]Find a Tax Haven country
    *]Find a Bank
    *]Open an account
*]Deposit your money into the account

But you will be liable for taxation, but the benefit is, it’s private and the gubbmint can’t touch it if Obama decides he needs your 401k money to pay for more Obamaphones and a free car for everyone on foodstamps 👍

Muni’s. They generally pay lower interest than corporates but they should be higher than CD’s. But if you do go CD, you don’t have to worry about too much interest to be taxed.

  1. Ah… I see

    Best,

Careful where you get your munis. Contrary to public opinion bonds are not foolproof. Make sure the Municipal bonds you purchase are from municipalities with good credit ratings.

BTW if you want to avoid taxes the Mitt Romney way do these following tasks
  • Start your own business and work for yourself
  • Make contribution to your kids via accounts and/or trusts
  • Give to charity
  • Purchase stocks with high-dividends directly from the company
👍

Yes, but those credit ratings can and do change. And in 2008, some of them did in fact default.

It’s also estimated he has like $100 million in his IRA, supposedly from some humongous capital gains. He’s going to get sacked at the highest possible rates when he is forced to withdraw. The advisors are having a field day with this one. He no doubt will try to lower that maximum, you can bet on it, even if he has to wipe out all deductions from everyone.

Congress isn’t dominated by Republicans and there has been a default budget in place for the past 4 years.

Do you live in an alternative reality?
Actually, the republicans in the house could force a balanced budget if they really wanted one. No spending ever gets authorized without their approval.

Actually, there is another thing you forgot: use massive amounts of other people’s money, particularly by borrowing. Our tax system is significantly biased towards borrowers. The guy who avoid debt and expands his business with his own profits really takes it on the chin.

So who on the Republican side do you think shares blame with Obama? Nobody?
For two years, Obama had a dominant legislature. If the democrats were fully united, the republicans had no procedural means of stopping them.

What has stopped democrats in both chambers is their fear of losing seats. It happened in 2009 and 2010 in big ways.

The reason why Harry Reid hasn’t passed a budget in three years is because there are no safe incumbents anymore and anyone who supports the spending dreams by the left wing of the democrat party would find their political career in big trouble.

Not even Bernie Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist, nor Patrick Leahy, John Kerry or Sherrod Brown could give the president’s budget a YES vote.

I suppose it’s any wonder how in 50 years we’ve gone from the world’s biggest lender to the world’s biggest borrower.
