Catholics must never choose to do bad for good reasons. We can never do direct abortions, it is against our principles. Abortion is murder, and murder is never justifiable.
Agreed. Yet, I couldnt gather any one good outcome without trading one problem for another…or rather, not in this scenario at least.

I too would like to hear what the right choice was in this situation.

I thought it was a good piece considering it was a morning television show. It certainly wasn’t a hit job and it took the Bishop and the Church’s views seriously. I would like to have heard more from the Bishop concerning his decision to excommunicate the Sister, but actually would have been disappointed if the Bishop had not maintained silence and descretion about the matter. The article calls me to prayer for all those who live within the Church.

Have you not notice that they only interview the dissenters of the Church? Those who speak against the Church?
Positive views are not considered “newsworthy.” Most of what is promoted by the major news media is negative.

I saw the program and felt it was very highly biased and distorted. Only giving one side of the story.

I trust CBS as fas as I can throw Walter Cronkite and Katie Couric.

Who watches CBS news anyway?
I always thought it amusing that their name says it all

See B. S.

Like all the alphabet soup channels, CBS is a shadow of its former self both in numbers and credibility.

Propagandists that use psychological manipulation to inculcate the masses toward their own radical cultural agenda are beginning to find themselves exposed more and more, as the radicalism becomes more evident, and the skills of obfuscation begin to erode. Once the curtain gets pulled back, the wizard immediately loses his mystique…and credibility. This phenomenon has happened, not only regarding media, but also the other engines driving this cultural degadation. And, as a natural reaction, we see a growing backlash that might be called skepticism, but in truth is outright, justifiable anger.

The confusion that had accompanied a seemingly amorphous transformation from a culture based on virtue into one that seems nearly graceless, has now given way to pained recognition that these changes were contrived, deliberately driven forward by genuine agents of change, of which a once-trusted national media can be proved a major culprit.

That the Roman Catholic Church is seen as an obstacle to this arrogant and ruthless revolutionary cause is real and evident; as are the unveiled attempts to break Her down, and discredit and marginalize Her. The latest CBS effort is but one of many. The question is, now that the motives behind these attacks are so unequivocally and transparently malevolent: What will be our response.

Look to Bishop Sheen, and his response to Communism. He spoke loudly and plainly against an evil which sought to consume freedom. We need to muster that brand of clarity and courage. We need to resist, or else we will lose.

I used to be a fan of CBS’s ‘Sunday Morning’ when Charles Kuralt was the host, but since he left the program became radically liberal several years ago, and I have turned it off and stopped watching it.

It all started when ‘Sunday Morning’ started to target the Baby Boomer generation as their main audience and began to feature interviews with various Rock N’ Roll musicians every week.

Some strange things I have seen on ‘Sunday Morning’ was a few years back when well known, long time U.S. Senator from Utah Orrin Hatch was featured giving a TV editorial in support of embryo killing stem-cell “research”.

Of course, no editorial opinion opposing Senator Hatch’s was offered to the viewer.

Another was Mr. Ben Stein giving a similar TV editorial defending New York Governor Eliot Spitzer having sex with prostitutes.

Of course, no editorial opinion opposing Mr. Ben Stein’s was offered to the viewer.

One Sunday morning when Charles Osgood, the show’s host, started the program with a lead news story about Cher’s daughter’s sex change operation, I knew I had had enough, shut it off, and since then I haven’t watched the program.

A few years back, they had a news segment about embryo killing stem-cell “research”; they featured some sort of Utilitarian Ethicist from NYU who used all the typical Utilitarian philosophical arguments to justify the murders of the embryos. They didn’t offer any opposing expert view against such destruction.

The only part I occassionally watch now is the final part of the program where they broadcast the Animal / Nature segment featuring wildlife, usually from a National Park.

They always show it at the very end. I tune in about 10:23 A.M., mute the ‘Face The Nation’ promo and commercials, and then I watch the Animal / Nature segment.

‘Sunday Morning’ has cut the Nature segment to the bone; years ago, it used to be about 2 minutes long.

Now, the Nature segment runs anywhere from 30-45-60 seconds; it is so short, it is hardly worth sitting a few minutes through a bunch of dumb commercials to see it and I rarely tune in.

It is obvious the cut the Nature segment so they could run more commercials and get more $$$.

In my opinion, the show advocates a Utilitarian philosophic understanding of the world, devoid of religion and the program is an arm of their propaganda.

The show caters to the New York liberal intellectual class / establishment.

I’m with the bishop on this one. God bless him. This is such a biased report, it makes me sick. “Inability to deal with the 21th century?” Really? So murder isn’t murder anymore? Interesting.
