Jose,
As a malayalee, I would’ve expected you to appreciate the richness of the Christian and Catholic traditions we have in Kerala. The three separate rites are a product of the unique development of Christianity within Kerala. Although, the differences in rites have resulted from tragic divisions in the Malankara Church, they have added to the diversity abound in Kerala.
If we were to celebrate mass/qurbana in one rite, which one would you suggest? I am going to jump the gun and assume you would want it celebrated in Latin? Why abandon our culture and traditions, Our Father in God, St. Thomas the Apostle did not preach to us in Latin nor did he follow the post Vatican II revisions in the liturgy. Not to re-open any historical wounds, but it was the actions and ignorance of certain Latin Catholics (the Portuguese) that resulted in the divisions within the Malankara Church.
In my opinion, the Kerala was always rooted in Eastern Christianity and Western Christianity does not have a place there, be it the Latin Catholic Church nor the Pentecostals.
In Him,
Georgee
