I typed her name and Scientology into Google and got lots of hits. She is definitely a scientologist along with her husband. There are a few websites that share some shocking news about her involvement and lawsuits.
Yes …I just did that…oh…this is indeed sad…
I like her program on Fox and maybe it shouldn’t affect that…but the more I know the more it does…I’ve watched her coverage of the Natalee Holiway case and think she does an excellent job…but hope on the side she isn’t trying to convert them 😦
I know she likes to keep a low profile…with her Scientology…she and hubby are part time residents of Fl… 😦

Thanks. Why do they call it a cult? there is a church of scientology near us. i have considered going as an educational experiance. is that even allowed? good idea or bad idea? i have absolutely no desire to convert whatsoever, im just curious as to what all the hoopla is about.
Please, please, don’t go!!! They begin the brainwashing almost immediately. They might or might not let you in, but if you get in, there will be all kinds of problems with getting away from them. They are very dangerous people!

On another note: One of the names that is not on the list of celebrities who are into this stuff, is Mimi Rogers, who got Tom Cruise into this to start with. Mimi is a second generation scientologist. She recruited him into it.
This is one of their things: dragging people in, brainwashing them into believeing that this is their only hope, & then not letting them go. Now, Cruise is doing exactly what was done to him. Thankfully, a lot of women have passed on the scientology “love bombing”. Tragically, it appears that Katie Holmes did not…She needs a lot of prayers, that she can get out before she is so entangled that she never breaks free…

I just did the same and I have read many of the articles. I read about her father and his income tax problems and how she went to the Wisconsin Supreme Court to defend him after he died. She is a remarkable woman really. She was raised Catholic and like many of the other Scientologists, fell away.

In the article, it was said that one of his ex-girl friends was “height challenged”, in other words, short. Aren’t we allowed to say “short” anymore, or will the PC police get us if we do?

I think you have it backwards. It is Tom who is generally considered “height challenged” by Hollywood standards–he’s 5’7’’. Since leading men, especially in action flicks, are supposed to be bigger than life, they generally have him with short co-stars and film from a slighly lower angle to make him look taller. They did the same with a lot of Schwarzenegger movies.

Oh, OK. I see my mistake. Just shows how much attention I pay to things like that. Thanks

I got a chill when I read this in the original post.
Curiously, since the Cruise-Holmes situation popped up, we have heard over and over again that Cruise was the young actress’ idol when she was growing up.
That’s certainly interesting because all of the publicity that used to run on Holmes — still found all over the Internet — lists another Tom as her favorite actor.
That would be Tom Hanks.
Many years ago I was watching an interview with John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston. She said that when she was a girl she walked past Travolta’s Grease poster and had an intuition that she was going to marry him someday. I’m beginning to think that that may be Scientology’s justification for age disparities among its celebrity adherents.

Cruise a kook? Check out these gems from L. Ron’s FBI file
JUNE 24–As Tom Cruise and his Scientology cohorts show Katie Holmes the religion’s ropes, they surely won’t be spending any time focusing on L. Ron Hubbard’s wonderfully entertaining FBI file. Which, of course, is TSG’s job. This Hubbard guy, the bureau documents reveal, was quite a raving lunatic (who could have imagined?). When he wasn’t diming out a supposed Nazi, beefing about his wife, or complaining about being harassed by Cuban commies, Hubbard wrote to the FBI about a bizarre home invasion. Hubbard, the guiding light to nitwits like Cruise, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, and Lisa Marie Presley, told agents in a May 1951 letter about being attacked in his crib. After being knocked out by the intruder(s), the science fiction author claimed, a needle was “thrust into his heart to produce a coronary thrombosis and he was given an electric shock.”

Ummmmm…OK, that’s a common experience in $cientology, is it??? Is this something that Tommy may have had, too??? Or is it only the:bowdown: head  nutcase that is attacked in his crib? (Stay tuned for further  adventures…)
You know, seriously, wouldn’t you love to be the poor FBI person assigned to deal with:whacky: this ? “Yes, I understand, Mr. Hubbard. What :whacky:kind of space ship were they driving on the night in question?”

Peace be with you!

I think Mel and Jim need to make a round of Hollywood and slap the sense into everyone.

Anyway, I think it would be interesting to go to a Scientology meeting or whatever they call it just to see what kind of wierd stuff they do (I doubt I ever will; I don’t even know–or care–where a “church” of theirs is). Of course, I would be sure to wear my scapular, a St. Michael medalion, and keep my rosary close at hand!

In Christ,
Rand
