Cell phones at Mass

Its not a matter of being irreverent, its a natural body function. Do you think that the Priest himself hasn`t passed gas a time or two when he was saying mass:)
 
we have a large no cell phone and no improper dress sign in the front of our church. It usually works. :rolleyes:
 
But do you have a no flatulence sign? Remember, flatulence will get you anywhere.

Unless I missed something, the first reference to flatulence that I found in this thread was an analogy. The analogy was fine but IMHO that really should have been the end of it. Guess not. But it is rather off topic. Oh well …

That’s my fault. I think that there is such thing as being rude in Church and those types of activities should be avoided as much as possible. I think that cell phones going off in Church is rude and distracting. I realize that it happens by mistake, but it often happens repeatedly by the same person (even during the same Mass) or after the announcement to turn the phones off. I think there is a certain behavior that should be expected in the Presence of our Lord, in particularly at the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass. Maybe my expectations are too high.:confused:

Your analogy was fine. (Actually, it was quite amusing. :cool: To me, cell phones in church are about as welcome as gas.) Unfortunately, though, it looks like others’ sophomoric humor has taken over which may well get this thread locked. 🤷

Brad, I didn`t mean to say anything to make You feel small, just to me passing gas is no different then when a person has to cough or sneeze, blow their nose etc, these are things that have to be,
 
I never turn my cell phone off during Mass because I want everyone to know how popular I am when my phone rings. I am so important I refuse to pay attention to those signs on the doors and I totally ignore the requests from the lecters to turn mine off or put it on vibrate. I especially need to keep up with my friends when they text me about our brunch date. The twitter contacts I subscribe to are so important to me too.

I receive a lot of important emails on my phone too. When the new seasons of Survivor, Idol, and the Bachelor are on I am just so excited when the web forums send me alerts to my posts.

Honestly, I just can’t do without my cell phone. Will there be cell phones in heaven because I can’t be forever happy without mine?

I hate cell phones. There is absolutely nol excuse for a cell phone to be heard at Mass. Those who must stay in contacrt because of an elderly/ill person know how to handle the issue.

Everyone else leave them in the car or at home.

I wonder if hospitals require surgeons and surgical staff to turn off cellphones in the OR while doing surgery. If they want to talk about what to bring home for dinner, ok, but the patient may be being charged for that extra time.
