I actually don’t think it has to do with their faith. My sil (who’s Catholic) lives in Jordan and there is a strong sense of nationality against outsiders. Opinions of Muslim Palestinian refugees is very negative their, especially when it comes to hiring. My bil (who’s Muslim and a native Jordanian) did not hire a Palestinian because she said she was Palestinian and did not seem grateful to be living in Jordan. My sil has friends of all different faiths there and has made it quite clear that Christmas trees (and the material celebration of Christmas) are bought by Muslims as well as Christians. Again, I think it has more to do with national pride (not trusting outsiders) than with religious beliefs.
