This is indeed horrible and I do agree with what one of those interviewed in the story said… It was probably taken for the purpose of a cult desecrating the Blessed Sacrament.

My prayers are that the thief repents of having stolen the Blessed Sacrament and returns it…even if done anonymously. :gopray:

Really sad, let us all pray for those who did such a horrible thing.

Not just sad, but frightening…

I would frequently think such rituals as a ā€œBlack Massā€ are simply tall-tale stories…and yet each time I read about a Blessed Sacrament being stolen, I believe.

As I read this, it makes me think about how Jesus still sacrifices for us, in that he makes himself vulnerable to attacks like this (a defenseless host), so that we may partake in the Eucharist and become one with Him.

I wonder if that’s theologically backward

I don’t really know for sure why but this reminds me of how the Roman soldiers divided Jesus’ garments by casting lots after they crucified Him.

Then they crucified him and divided his garments by casting lots for them to see what each should take.
(Mark 15:24 NAB-A)

A terrible incident. Moreover, is not the Tabernacle to be locked, or the did thief/thieves simply retrieve the Blessed Sacrament without issue?

The news article listed in post #4 mentions that the lock on the tabernacle has been changed for security reasons. I think this suggests that the tabernacle had been locked, and the thief or thieves somehow managed to circumvent the lock.

ā€œONLY?ā€

Nothing else in that church matters as much as the ciborium and the Body of Christ reposed within it inside the tabernacle.
I read his comment that way at first as well. I think what he’s trying to say is that they only wanted and came for one thing ---- ONLY the ciborium was stollen. šŸ˜‰

I see. Thank you for the clarification.

Thank you Lisa. I guess I am surprised that my words would be interpreted differently, but I see now that I should have been more careful how I phrased it.

Yes, my point is that the thief or thieves broke in specifically to steal the ciborium, and nothing else mattered to them.
I see. Thank you for the clarification.
Oh, you’re welcome! This was an unusual thread in that we wound up posting three different new stories, with only one or two details separating each one. So it was easy to get the impression that the second and third story had no new information.

This is sickening… Breaking into a place of worship and stealing there most holy of objects.
Not just sad, but frightening…

As well you should. They do happen. Mind you they are not always mockeries of the Catholic Mass…

Some of this ceremonies mock other faith and ethnic groups. A Jewish version is Hitler worship, the Buddhist version involves animal sacrifice (doesn’t matter the animal).

They’ve kept the term Black Mass for all of them and it’s basically just insult as many religions as possible.

Heck you can see Black Masses done on youtube…

Good point.
But I think, when an ordinary layman (whether religious or not) here’s the term ā€œBlack Massā€ they would more likely than not think about the perversion of a Catholic Mass.

I don’t want to look…

True this.

Propably a good idea. They even got Pagan Black Masses. I.E. Mockey of neo-Paganism. An the Satanist wonder why we don’t wanna be friends with them?

This is all just so disgusting that this was stolen. Does anyone know whether it was returned or not or whether it contained the Sacred Hosts or not? 🤷
