I sent him an email this morning, as did a friend of mine. I struggle with going straight to the bishop 1)because I’ve always believed in working your way up the chain of command and 2)he’s recovering from a liver transplant.
That’s actually a good idea. I’m just tired of the deliberate leading astray of the people of God.
Hmmm, pray for the man, and if he should persist, I would write to the Bishop. I wonder if from what he said if he isn’t a “part-time” priest already in his devotion ot the Catholic Faith. Sad.

I’ve noticed lately that , while there is a shortage of vocations to priesthood, there is little shortage of vocations to the pontificate.
I think it might mean doing something like the permanant diaconate, except with priestly ordination.

How sad. Very sad, but the flip side happened in my church. My priest preached about why females were never gonna be priests - then he sailed right into homosexual relations, premarital sex, abortion and all the biggies. I almost broke out in cheer .
The pulpit is not a place for a preist to spread his politics around to his parish. It is a place for the preist to preach the Gospel. His job is to give an objective homily and administer the sacraments. Not to say that he is in clear disgareement with the Holy See.
I might have, but I am one of the music leaders. Kinda hard to walk out when you have an obligation like that.
yeah, nothing like taking the entire choir with you as you mark your protest with a walk out.
What he was talking about with regards to part-time priests is that we should ordain people for limited functions. i.e., person 1 is ordained for confessions only, person 2 is ordained for the Eucharist only, person 3 for… He also suggested that we could ordain people for a limited amount of time. As for married and women priests, his big thing was that we have a shortage of priests, and if we withdrew the restrictions of it having to be a celibate male, then we wouldn’t have the problem anymore. After all…it only takes 3 signatures from Rome to become a priest (he said that over and over on Sunday).

That is AWESOME!!! I would LOVE to have a priest stand up there and give us the truth about what The Church teaches about stuff! We tend to get the generic “God loves you” kind of homilies. This relatively new priest (he’s been here for almost a year) has said some really off the wall stuff.
Your priest knew what he was doing. Go to the Bishop.
He can have all of the opinions he wants, just can’t preach that at the pulpit. Pope John Paul II said that the discussion on female priests was closed. We’re not even supposed to be discussing it anymore.
Pray hard and fast for him but definitely report him.
