It doesn’t work.
I might work if you believe in it and make an effort. Our tendencies can be overcome.

Some people are hardcore gay that cannot be changed. Others are only on a wrong path from where they can turn back. A human being praying to and trusting in the Lord always has a chance.

You are a beloved child of God. I hope you know love and peace, and realize your value in this world. God bless you.

They are all designed so they can be used in exclusive ways, without incorporation of all of the ways. How wonderful, to my way of thinking as an agnostic, that the body was created in such versatile fashion.
The Christian community would have different notions of design and creation than your agnostic community.

This would include the existence of a transcendent loving force of immense knowledge and purpose providing the gift of an immortal soul and not random interactions of unexplainable soulless particles temporarily giving the illusion of will and free choice only for decay and death to eventually triumph in an ultimately meaningless process.

For the Christian the first understanding is truly wonderful.

do you think the church teaching is wrong on this subject? if you do, where in scripture can you prove your point of view? or should the church throw out its Holy Book for the sake of conformity with the world.
This is something that those advocating the disposal of church teachings fail to do consistently. At best, they perform gymnastics every Olympic gymnast would be jealous of.
Truth isn’t a popularity contest. I can insist 3 is 5 over and over again but it doesn’t change reality.

Dear Ellipses,
Our Faith is a relationship w Jesus(Trinity). We worship in churches, so we don’t get rained on. Catholicism traces its roots back to StPeter. Traditions, scrolls and Paul’s letters were all we had before the gospels were written and compiled.
The Bible is the true word of God. Moses is given credit for the first 5 books of the Old Testament. The story is an allegory. It shows there was a God that created. Science can tell us HOW GOD CREATED. There was more than one Adam and Eve.
There is a passion in your spirit in your relationship w Jesus. As you couldn’t stop talking to the love of your life, it’s the same w God. Reading the Bible is a hunger that can’t be sated. When a new Baby in Christ, the Holy Spirit dumps all this in your spirit. When you grow to toddler phase, we have to work harder to understand the lesson we are learning in life.
Years later, we need structure and Bible Studies…
Reference scripture verses on homosexuality. God loves and we are to love the homosexual. I have family members who are gay.
You may have changed your mind but God hasn’t changed His.
These feelings are real but cannot be acted on.
You know, we can go from birth to death and not have sex and be happy. It’s a mind set of he times. Sex is a god now. It’s a free for all!
Our bodies come in a pattern like a shirt. Holes for arms & necks and waist. If you put it on wrong, it won’t look good. Certain areas are for certain body functions- not to be mixed up.
We,All, are to be pure in mind, body and soul.
Single life vocation, we go to school, find out our careers. Live w God and for God. The Religious life is suppose to be pure! AHEM! Living for God. Married vocation- we can have sex but we have self control. A romantic feeling can appear and you are not w your spouse. One doesn’t jump the nearest person around. Pure in mind, body and soul., We believers walk w God as much as we can. Fifty Shades of Grey is a NONO! There can be variety of positions and delicate lingerie but no fetishes like nurse outfits or Catholic school girl costumes. Our sensuality is beautiful.
So every creation is to strive for purity of mind, body and soul. No sex except married vocation. Have friends, not sex partners. Our souls and eternity is at stake.
Google Mystical Baptism.
I’m not sure, if it’s true but it’s interesting.
If one accepts their role in life but sins and is truly sorry, sins are forgiven. But repentance is turning away from.
I know it’s not what you want to hear. But, THATS ALL FOLKS.

Church doctrine will always follow the Natural Law and, as it has been interpreted throughout the times as it applies to the individual, the only way to follow through with the Law is for sex to happen between a man and a woman, with the intent of procreation.

If that’s the case, why do so many people find themselves attracted to their own gender, while finding the opposite gender repulsive? How could such an abomination, on the face of the Natural Law, have ever come to be a reality?
Why is a slice of the population doomed to either be shunned, or forced to comply with a Law that forces them to do something repulsive?
Do bear in mind that, for a homosexual, marrying someone of the opposite gender is pretty much equivalent to a heterosexual marrying someone of the same gender… Unpleasant, to say the least.

Personally, I think Natural Law needs a reinterpreting, to account for the rise in worldwide population and subsequent increase in absolute numbers of people with non purely heterosexual inclinations. In the old days, when these people made up such a tiny number of the population that you could ignore their troubles, the current understanding of Natural Law seemed very acceptable. Nowadays, although the majority would still feel Natural Law to be acceptable, the higher visibility caused by the sheer numbers inherent to our growing population can lead us to consider Natural Law either as inadequate or in need of a more encompassing interpretation.

I think the future will see more and more Catholics, of all sexual orientations, rejecting Church teaching on this subject as more and more of their loved ones reveal themselves as gay.

do you think the church teaching is wrong on this subject? if you do, where in scripture can you prove your point of view? or should the church throw out its Holy Book for the sake of conformity with the world.
I am not a Catholic. I think Church teaching is rational, if you accept the philosophical premises that there is a ‘natural order’ and that homosexual sex is outside this; and that ‘the end does not justify the means’. Very few people outside the Church accept these premises and I have yet to hear an argument that would convince me of either of them. I remain open to being persuaded. Scripture prescribes and proscribes a range of activity. only some has survived in modern Church teaching. I cannot imagine a situation in which, based on the natural law arguments, a person not a Catholic could be persuaded of the Catholic position. I think that is the reason that you so often see Catholics advancing other arguments such as happiness, suicide rates among gay people, need for population increase, outcomes for children etc.

The purpose of sex is to procreate.
Sex purely for pleasure is a perversion.
Sodomy is only ever just for pleasure, therefore it is a perversion.

This doesn’t mean you can’t like a gay person. It just means they are sinning, as you likely are in some other way.

Hello,
Just a curious question. What are your plans for romantic life? I mean… are you content to live without a partner? Join the priesthood? Marry a woman based on companionship love?

If the latter, would you tell the woman about your situation?

I do wonder how many catholic people with SSA would try to push down their natural inclinations and attempt to marry the opposite sex for companionship/following expected path of marriage and children. Similarly, I wonder how much of the clergy is made up of men with SSA? Not that it matters to me, of course.

I think that as being homosexual is becoming more and more accepted in mainstream society, there are less people ‘in the closet’ and attempting to have a marriage despite their sexual orientation is becoming rarer. I wonder if the true is same for catholic communities?

I cannot in my heart of hearts believe that their love for their same sex spouses and friends is in any way a sin or wrong.
The thing is, their bond is, in their own mind, a marital bond. Marriage though, is not defined by love. Love is meant to cement all human relationships. The defining characteristic of marriage is ‘oneness’. What is the ‘one;’ that two become? Human nature entire. Mankind as a whole. All humanity or human life as one. A microcosm of the entire human world. This is the environment children deserve. To enter life in a maternal environment that makes them ‘familiar’ with all of human nature. A SS couple is not that. By definition they can only be one half of human nature or a microcosm of one half of all humanity.Their bond cannot go beyond friendship.

SS couples, or any two people who live together and role play a marital bond will begin to experience the emotions and psychological dependencies common to marriage. Single mothers taking care of a single child form these ‘quasi’ marital bonds. Certain situations in families create environments where a sister and brother can form a quasi marital bond. No sexual activity, that would be repulsive to them too but the emotions and dependencies are there. This same kind of thing is happening to SS couples.

i think this is an exact description of the Catholic position. I do not want any Catholic to think that I am arguing against that position, given the teaching of the Church. The Church teaches that sex outside of marriage, or that is not open to reproduction, in each act, is evil. I feel that this is not in line with human understanding of love. I think it limits the potential of the grace of God. Love is good. I appreciate that tis is not the view of the Church. But it is my view. And it is the view of million (billions?) of others. The Church needs response that will persuade. The arguments in this thread do not persuade.

My plan is to live a chaste life.
This, my friends, is heroic love. Love of God and His Word above all. “Lost” needs a new name: “Found.”
A lot of us live chaste, unmarried lives for one reason or another. I’m one. It is a beautiful life and deeply fulfilling when you accept that this is your calling from God.

How does love distinguish your marital bond from other bonds between persons?
It is a love like no other love. Obviously, there are many different kinds of love. I realize some people disagree with this and say that love is love. But that is not my experience.

I will say that my experience tells me that love is binary. Either you love or you don’t. There is no “sort of Love” or “love a little.”

Too often it seems to be said or implied that the Church should accomodate the prevailing societal views on such issues, that the Church should ‘modernise’, that to fail to do so will see the Church shrinking in numbers. Is that what we are to be, a club that changes our message in order to attract more members?

Are we here to change the world, or are we here to change to be more like the world?

You can be what you think, but you are what you do! If you think you are gay, but then you move on and live like a straight person, then you are actually not a gay. However, if you act on your gay impulse, then you become a gay.
You seem to think that “being a gay” is a sin. It is not. (Calling someone “a gay” is offensive, however, because “gay” is an adjective, not a noun).

A gay person does not become disordered even by acting on his or her inclinations. Again, gay people are no more disordered in themselves than straight people. But the attraction to the same sex is a disordered affection – just like the desire to steal or rape or deceive or destroy are disordered affections.
