Heard about the changes to the Roman Missal coming down the pike (I guess coming, have a feeling they’ll be delayed).
One of these changes is supposed to be to the Confiteor. I like the inclusion of the mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa from the Latin to the English …my own fault, my own fault, my own great fault (or something similar). I was greatly encouraged because I like the adherance to the old Latin.
But then something came to mind that burst my bubble. When was the last time I actually went to a church that actually recited the Confiteor? Answer: The last time I went to a Tridentine Rite mass.
So much for the change if the Confiteor is never used!!!
To anyone out there who may read this thread…can you tell me why the Confiteor is never recited at a Novus Ordo Mass anymore?
